I am wishing to change my FSX traffic from MyTraffic X 5.1 to version 5.4a.
Can someone advise me of all the specific steps involved so that I get it right from start to finish.

Do you have MyTraffic from Aerosoft ( DVD version) or did you purchase it from Simmarket?

Both the 5.1 and 5.4a versions were purchased via Simmarket.com

So you have the full Installer MTXV54a.exe ? Then I recommend that you either rename your existing MyTraffic folder to MyTraffic 512 or delete it, dpending on disk space you have and if you made soemthing yourself in that folder, and then run the installer. You do not need to make the two additional steps after installation if version 5.1 was working.

Yes I have purchased the full MTXV54a.exe installer.
I have not edited version 5.1 in any way (no added aircraft or flight plans etc.)
Do I not need to clean version 5.1 out of FSX first (de-activationg the scenery fron the scenery list within FSX)?
Do I not de-install via the add/remove option of windows 7?
I do understand that I do not need to make the two additional steps after installation if version 5.1 was working. (Adding MytrafficX to FSX.cfg).
I want the process to be as clean as it possibly can be to avoid conflicts with the registry and within FSX.

If you have MTXV54a.exe, this is a full installer, and you can delete the old folder and just run the full install. The incremental update is MTXU54a.exe, this requires MyTraffic 5.4 to be installed.

Thank you for your continued help with my question, The full MTX54a.exe is what I have, so I will simply delete my My Traffic X folder from within my main FSX folder and run this installer.
With your mention of the incremental update called MTXU54a.exe requiering MyTraffic X 5.4, am I right in thinking this does not apply to my situation?

Yes, since you have MTXV54a.exe . There never was a MTX54a.exe.
