need more braking friction

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I am using FSUIPC to control toe pedal brakes with Saitek Cessna rudder pedals.  I would like more braking friction from the pedals.  What parameter do I adjust for more braking action?

Thanks.

If you've calibrated them correctly then pressing them all the way will give the maximum braking designed into the particular aircraft you are concerned with. If you don't like the modelling you may be able to increase the braking effect by altering either the AIRCRAFT.CFG file for it, or the AIR file -- but the latter needs a special editor, such as AirWrench, and great care. I'm afraid I don't know what parameters there are for this -- it is probably some inertia or momentum value. Of course you could get more braking action by simply lightening the load. Maybe you're carrying too many passengers or too much fuel?

With most aircraft I've flown in FSX I've found the braking is rather too effective, often probably unrealistically so..

Go to the [brakes] section of the corresponding aircraft.cfg file and decrease the toe_brakes_scale value; 1 is the default. For example, try

toe_brakes_scale=0.80 and make some tests; know that many 3rd party commercial aircrafts use values between 0.50 and 0.70

There's no air file parameter for this action, only the boolean #332 value (Toe brakes available) but it is obsolete in FSX

Hope it will help
