Can't install FSUIPC on Prepar3D v2.4

Recommended Posts

Hello,

first of all, I apologize for my potentially bad English (I'm German).

So, I tried to install the version 4.938 of FSUIPC and got the following error message: "Cannot edit the Prepar3D DLL.XML file to activate FSUIPC. Please make sure you run Prepar3D at least once before installing FSUIPC."

However, I did run Prepar3D more than once (as administrator and normal).

The installation log is:

Looking for the current user's Application Data path:

 ... No Prepar3D.CFG there
Looking in "C:\Users\User\AppData\Roaming"
 ... No Prepar3D.CFG there
Cannot edit the DLL.XML file to activate FSUIPC.

What is weird is that the installer cannot find the Prepar3D.cfg file in C:\Users\User\AppData\Roaming although it's there.

Hope someone can help me!

Cheers

I'll look at the problem when I can. Trouble is I am running on a crippled system till at least Tuesday, when a replacement PC should be ready.

Meanwhile, if this is your first time with FSUIPC, use the 4.937 installer: link Install FSUIPC4937.

Pete

Incredible, this version got immediately installed without any problems. Thank you very much!

Okay, I found the problem with the 4.938 installer -- just a silly error. I forgot to increase an install count by 1: FSX, FSX-SE, P3Dv1, P3Dv2. That's 4. The count stopped at 3! Stupid! :-(

You can re-download 4938 now. I've not changed the version number -- the FSUIPC is still the same.

Ok Pete! Sorry about that!

When i try to install fsuipc and the installer askme to locate the fsx.exe or Prepar3D.exe they return this error:

Your Prepar3D intallation is incorrect! The version of SimConnect installed will not run FSUIPC4. You may need repair the installation to rectify this first.
No changes have been made by this program.

Looks like your P3D installation is all messed up. Not only are there no installation details in the Registry, but there are no SimConnect installations for applications to connect to.

I know you've managed to get passed the former problem by using the FSUIPC Installer facility to allow you to point to the program, but to get around the absence of SimConnect you will need to find and run the SimConnect installer(s).  Look in the P3D install package. There should be a SimConnect.msi file there somewhere which SHOULD have executed when you did the install. Evidently it wasn't, or it failed. Alternatively, and possibly more flexibly for the many other applications which use FSX SimConnect versions, go download the FSX SDK, here

FSXSDK-SP2Update

and you'll find the FSX SP2/Acc version of SimConnect.msi. and, probably, in "LegacyInterfaces" also the RTM and SP1 versions. There are programs which only link via the older ones. it does no harm to install all of them.

In the end you might be better off in the longer term uninstalling P3D altogether and installing from scratch, hoping it goes right this time. If it doesn't, it's a matter for discussion with L-M I'm afraid.
