Unable to install the latest version 4.939d

Recommended Posts

Please do NOT post pictures of text files, but paste the entire text file instead. I need to see the entire file -- the part you captured is incomplete and shows no failure at all. Why do you think it fails?

And please also explain the history which led to there being two pointers to FS, one for FSX and one for FSX-SE -- that's not possible if you never had FSX-SE at all.

You can save the file using "Save" in the File menu, assuming you cannot find the FSX Modules folder where it will have been installed.

The installer detects FSX-SE bcause your registry says it is installed, though it points to the same folder as FSX. See here:

 HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator - Steam Edition\10.0
     Parameter"SetupPath"
... >>>  OK! FOUND FSX-SE!  <<< ...
     SetupPath=C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator X\

This cannot get into your registry without something putting it there, so evidently someone's been at your PC without you knowing? The registry is exactly as it would be without FSX but with FSX-SE only.

For the next version of the FSUIPC4  Installer I will try to deal also with this crazy case. There seems to be many ways in which folks can get their Registry in a mess!

If you cannot wait for a revised installer, the only solution for you with the current installer is to use Regedit to delete the complete key (and subkeys) at:
 HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator - Steam Edition

As far as I am aware that cannot be created by anything other than using the Steam FSX-SE installer.

Either way, so I can make the right changes, can please you tell me exactly what the FSUIPC Installer does -- the text file ends abruptly! There would have been a message or something, and maybe an option to do something, but the text file is still incomplete. I need to know why. What you saw, and what you did! PLEASE!

Never mind. I simulated your Registry mixup here, my messing mine up, and worked out what to do about it in the Installer.

Download the revised FSUIPC4 installer from the Download Links subforum ("Updated Modules") and try that. It won't fix your registry (so other installers may also get confused), but at least it now doesn't stop FSUIPC4's installer working.

Thanks Peter for your support.....I will download the new installer later cause I'm not home....

the crazy thing is nobody other than me touches the computer and yesterday I opened regedit and looked for the file and following the path in the Microsoft folder I don't see FSX......I'm thinking of someone else installer screwing the entire registry. ....I hope that your fix works, I really don't want to reload everything.

How can your Modules folder be in the root of drive D:? It must be within the FS folder!!!

If you want help with anything to do with Installing, I need to (a ) be told the version number, and (b ) see the Install Log. That is why a log is produced, to resolve installation problems quickly and easily!

The prossess can not access file because it is used by another prosess

In that case you obvious have FS or P3D still running, probably in the background with no Window. Check in Task Manager and terminate it. There is no way any program can ever be replaced when it is actually running at the time!

My P3D is installed in drive D:

I thought there had to be separate installs for P3D and FSX.

So if I only install it in FSX it will work in P3D to?

I haven`t had any problems with FSUIPC before. I made this problem myself when I maybe installed it wrong in P3D.

Where exactly should I install it in P3D

I will follow your instructions and try to solve this later today.

Thanks for answering:)

What, in D:\, not something like D:\P3D? Doesn't sound a good idea. I think a number of add-ons will have problems with that.

The one installer installs into FSX, FSX-SE, P3Dv1 and P3Dv2, in the one session. You don't need to run it 4 times!

So if I only install it in FSX it will work in P3D to?

No, the Installer needs to install it in each and every instance.

Where exactly should I install it in P3D

You don't! You let the Installer do it.  Please read the Installation document included in the ZIP!

Well normally you'd install it into a folder, eg D:\P3D. I've never heard of anyone not doing so.

A lot of add-ons like placing their products in a folder OUTSIDE of  the simulator folder, so, for example D:\Aerosoft. They cannot do that on your set up. So either they will fail during installation stage, or, if you are lucky, allow you to install on a separate drive. Or maybe they will allow you to install INSIDE the sim folder. Maybe it'll all work, it just all seems a little odd.

Hm,I installed it on my separate drive called D: and haven`t had any kind of trouble with it.

People I have asked told me that I could do it like that so I did

The only issue I have had is when installing Milviz King Air 350i.

But here I know they`re struggling with some bugs for P3D

Hi all,

I have a Strange Problem with newest FSUIPC and P3D v2.5. Installer won't start at all and in Modules folder there are no entrys.

P3d v2.5 is Brand New installed on Monday and installed all with Admin rights. P3D is installed in d://p3d.

with the older Installer 4.9.3.7, Witch i have used succsessfull in v2.4, installer will start But asks again and again for FSX.EXE. so i am in a quiue. By canceling that it continues but writes a fault that he didn't find FSX and the installed P3D Version is newer than this FSUIPC Version knows

Looking now in the Modules Folder i see the FSUIPC entrys, and after starting P3D im finding the 1st time the "AddOns" bar, but than P3D freezes with a Heavy fault and shut down.

Whats The Problem? Something went wrong, am i able to delete old or wrong FSUIPC parts somewhere Manually?

Can someone send me the actual dlls if there is no other Way?

I have a Strange Problem with newest FSUIPC

Newest? How do you work that out?

Installer for FSUIPC4.DLL version 4.937

4.937 is very old and unsupported. You need 4.939i (soon to be 4.939j).

And the log shows that the path for FSX actually points to your P3D, look:

INSTALLATION FOR FSX:

SetupPath="D:\P3D\"

Since FSX.EXE won't exist in a P3D installation, it isn't surprising you have a problem!

If you don't actually have an FSX installation, then how come you have Registry entries saying you have? You'll need to delete the section in the Registry for key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator\10.0

Thanks for that fast reply!

I know that is not the actual installer, but only with that i get something started so that is only a try.

I don't have that Folder microsoft games in The registry!

I left only a FSX.EXE on my desktop i read somewhere that is needed for some Addons.

Deleted it now.

No FSX Parts shown in the P3D folder.

Now i tried the actual one.

Again he is asking "FSX not found, please locate and open FSX.EXE." and moves to d://P3D.

I abort, he says no FSX found no changes have been made there etc....

Confirming with ok button, the window closes very fast, i remember the last Lines like "...FSUIPC DLL SUCCESSFULLY ...."

And no Register window starts.

But nothing found in Modules Folder.

Ah. It'll be disguised by the "WOW" system which is new in Win 64.  Try

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator\10.0

That 'Wow6432Node" is a way of Windows mapping 64 or 32 bit programs seaparetly to what they think is the same Registry key. Very annoying!

left only a FSX.EXE on my desktop i read somewhere that is needed for some Addons.

Deleted it now.

So, are you saying you NEVER EVER had FSX installed, or you did and deleted it without properly uninstalling it from the Registry?

If the only FSX.EXE you have is on the desktop, then that's where the Registry should say FSX is installed. How did the Registry get to point to P3D for FSX? Are you fiddling it or using some horrible migration tool?

Now i tried the actual one.

What's this "actual one"?

Again he is asking "FSX not found, please locate and open FSX.EXE." and moves to d://P3D.

I abort, he says no FSX found no changes have been made there etc..

I have no idea what you are really seeing and doing, I need the proper Install log for the CURRENT installer, 4.939i. Please find that, or, if you think it isn't being saved, save it yourself using the menu on the on-screen log.

I found i the System Control --> programs the FSX.

Hmm. I deinstalled it from there, wondering that there are some rests...

I did not find now Microsoft Games in that registry route you have shown.

I started again the installer i have Downloaded it from the chiratti.com Site, INSTALLER with the Word document "FSUIPC 4.939i changes" inside.

Now he is not longer asking for FSX!

But closes again very fast, couldn't find the log and any FSUIPC dlls.

Do i Have to start it at a special Folder? Currently i am starting from Desktop.

Well, it is certainly there, because otherwise it couldn't find it's way into the Installer and show a path to P3D!!!

Now he is not longer asking for FSX!

So what changed on your system? You said you were using that one in any case.

But closes again very fast, couldn't find the log and any FSUIPC dlls.

Closes again after what? Sorry, I am not understanding much of what you say, and I most certainly need the log to help you. It sounds like your system is really screwed up. Doesn't it come up with any messages at all? No screen, nothing?

Do i Have to start it at a special Folder? Currently i am starting from Desktop.

No, you can start it from anywhere, though I never recommend using the desktop. you could, with some installers, end up with a lot of clutter there.

If you really cannot get a log, or any information to help, I'll look at making a test version of the Installer which saves an extra copy of the log in the same folder as the Installer (or, in your case, presumably on the desktop).

Pete, Maybe i can contact you via Skype for a voice call? Must be easier for both.

Check "spaceweather" if you want.

The 4.937 installer is working fine but makes the old dlls. Can Start it very often.

The New one closes right after starting, couldn't catch the shown infos, no log, no Installation.

Couldn't Start it twice, by the Way. for That i have to unzip and create again.

Weird. That sounds like a virus checker in action.

Try downloading 4.939j from the Download Links subforum. Place the Installer on the desktop and run it -- it will put the Log on the desktop too. Then show me the log.
