No Coordinates send to ADE when FSX:SE paused

Recommended Posts

Hi everybody,

I encountered a Problem with the connection of FSX:SE and ADE:

The function "move aircraft here" works only in one direction (ADE to FSX) when the Simulation is paused (which is normally the case, when FSX is on one display and you're working with ADE on the other). The aircraft moves to the new Position in FSX, but the Symbol in ADE stays on the old Position. When you press "P" to continue the Simulation, the plane Symbol in ADE moves immediately to the new Position. It Looks, as if FSUIPC does not work properly when the Simulation is paused. There was no Problem after the first setup of FSX:SE and ADE on my new machine. It might be, that it came with the Installation of PMDG 737 or Flight1 BN-2 Islander.

System recovery, Uninstall of PMDG 737 and BN-2, Reinstall of FSUIPC did not help. Any clue to this Problem?

ADE being what, Airport Design Editor?

Really? FSUIPC doesn't care whether the sim is paused or not, it reads and writes coordinates to order.

The aircraft moves to the new Position in FSX, but the Symbol in ADE stays on the old Position. When you press "P" to continue the Simulation, the plane Symbol in ADE moves immediately to the new Position.

In that case SimConnect is not supplying the updated coordinates whilst the sim is paused, or they are not reaching FSUIPC for some reason.

It Looks, as if FSUIPC does not work properly when the Simulation is paused.

It won't be FSUIPC -- it is only passing on information received from SimConnect.

Have you tested changing coordinates using FSInterrogate (part of the FSUIPC SDK)?  You can also monitor the Lat/Lon offsets in FSUIPC, and that will show when the SimConnect values are received.

There was no Problem after the first setup of FSX:SE and ADE on my new machine. It might be, that it came with the Installation of PMDG 737 or Flight1 BN-2 Islander.

Hmm. I can't see how they can force SimConnect to delay updating variables when paused. Unless one of their DLLs is intercepting them and not passing them on.

Uninstall of PMDG 737 and BN-2, Reinstall of FSUIPC did not help.

Reinstall of FSUIPC is merely replacing the FSUIPC4.DLL with the same identical FSUIPC4.DLL, so obviously that can't change anything. When you "uninstalled" the others, did you also prevent their DLLs being loaded by DLL.XML?

I don't know why you need to pause in the first place -- the coordinates can certainly be changed all the time when unpaused. Only in FS9 and before did the sim have to be paused or in slew mode to move it about.

Hi Pete,

thanks a lot for the quick Response. Yes, ADE is Airport Design Editor. And i contacted already Jon Masterson - he had no idea.

I understand, that Sim Connect might be the cause of the Problem. Is there a way to reinstall/repair SimConnect?

So, what is FSInterrogate and where can I find FSUIPC SDK?

I did not only uninstall, but deleted everything I found regarding PMDG, also edited the DLL.XML.

When FSX is not in "full Screen" view mode, it automatically paused, when you click into another Screen (I've two Displays).

What versions of SimConnect DLL do you have installed? FSX-SE installs its own. There are three others. ADE probably uses one of the others. But the DLL is simply the interface into FS, and the code which does all the SimConnect things is inextricably bound into FSX modules, all over the place. So really the only "reinstall" is a reinstall of FSX. With FSX-SE there's a check and repair option in the Steam interface. You could try that.

But quite honestly I can't see how such a thing can be broken. Why are you pausing the sim in any case?

So, what is FSInterrogate and where can I find FSUIPC SDK?

FSInterrogate is a utility for reading and writing FSUIPC interfaces. The SDK is available in all the same places as FSUIPC, and all my other programs and modules. See "Download Links" subforum, for instance, or the Schiratti site.

When FSX is not in "full Screen" view mode, it automatically paused, when you click into another Screen (I've two Displays).

But that's just an FSX option -- change it so it doesn't pause!

Thanks a lot, Pete,

using FSX paused is just to avoid plane crash when moving it in ADE. You never know, wether there is some autogen object in the new Position. Sometimes there is the need to place an aircraft directly into a building, f.e. to place a roof into the right position on a building.

I'll try the repair Option.

Attached is the SimConnect.dll (It's the same as in the original FSX from my old machine).

No, that's the XML file. Do NOT try to attach DLLs, they are programs. You just need to review programs installed (Windows control panel), or take a look at the list of SimConnect versions FSUIPC's installer finds -- it's recorded in the Installer log file.

Okay, you have the Steam SimConnect 62613 build installed, and the FSX SP2/Acceleration 61259. If ADE is happy with that, it's okay. Don't keep attaching XML files which aren't relevant in any way.

Sorry, there's no answer here. You say it used to work and now does not. FSUIPC hasn't changed, so something else did.

O.K. it's a strange thing - and very strange is, that it was working  a few minutes ago, while I was editing an airport file. But only a short time. After shutting down FSX, compiling the airportfile and starting FSX, it's mad again.

Could it be a Hardware Problem?

George,

for some reason slew mode does not work, plane is spinning around. No Problems on my old System, using the same Standard.xml in the new System.

My Workaround now: Unpaused and crash reallity off.

Have you tried <Numpad> 5 to stop the spinning?

The spinning means that your yaw control (rudder pedals or joystick twist grip, for example) is not centred to neutral.

You can temporarily disable your control devices - I think it's ctrl-k - but I just calibrated my devices properly to stop it happening!
