TRACON: Sharing Created Sectors

Recommended Posts

I've spent some time on a DTW sector (one of the busier airports in the US and a Delta hub).

It's probably about a version 0.8 as while the main airport is complete with all the current (as of July 2015) SIDs and STARs created, I still need to add some bells and some of the regional airports.

A big help was finding the methods/tools to add about 1500 waypoints in less than 10 seconds to the file as well as control the upload of the runway and navaid information.

Couple of questions:

  • Is there a suggested method/location for sharing the work so others may test/enjoy?
  • It seems like in addition to the sector file, the additional sid/star configuration for the sector needs to be shared so others can append to their files - any others?
  • In the case of KDTW, the main SIDs start with ATC vectors within 10 DME - any suggestions on modeling this start?  I've currently created a departure that climbs to the reverse outer market (about 5-6 DME), then proceeds to the first indicated waypoint on the SID.

Any help would be appreciated.  It's a fun sector when a ton of arrivals start flowing in from 5 different angles.

I believe there might be a need to share the schedule.txt, airports.txt, airlines.txt, aircraft.txt too. If one (the user of the shared sector) does not amend/update the database files Tracon might not generate flights as expected, aircraft might not move, SIDs and STARs are not allocated correctly or Tracon simply might crash.

You may try it by yourself by checking the game.log

I can't think of another way to do it. Sometimes it is necessary to deviate from real live in order to get it to work in Tracon.
