YOKE CALLIBRATION IN FSX

Recommended Posts

Hi everybody,

for starters: I'm not a well seasoned simmer and pc guy. So please answer ASAP (As Simple As Possible)

After reïnstalling FSUIPC4 (version 4.949 of 22 dec 2015) I have this problem. In the callibration section of FSUIPC the "in" and "out" values of the ailerons and the elevator show "0". The minute I turn/push/pull the yoke the ailerons and elevator flips immediatelly full left/right/up or down. In other words: it's impossible to fly. The values in the callibration go direct from "0" to full range. All other controls (rudder, toe brakes and trimwheel - all Saitek) work fine.

I discovered on the forum that, although the controles in the FSX panel are disabeld, the sliders must be set at max sensitivity and no null zones. Which I did, but with no result. I had the same issue before reinstalling FSUIPC with the mixture and prop pitch on the throttle quadrant. But after the reinstall this is OK.

I read on some topics that there must be something like "SimConnect". Is this important and necessary? Can't find it on my system.

I noticed that you somethimes ask for the log or ini files. I send them right away to save time and affort.
Awaiting your reply (ies),

kind regards,

Eddy

for starters: I'm not a well seasoned simmer and pc guy.

This is almost always due to a bad install of the basic joystick data in the Windows Registry.  It seems to afflict Saitek users very frequently. There's nothing FSUIPC or FS can do because it makes the axis act as a digital "on/off" switch. I think the only fix might be to edit the offending part of the Registry.

You could try the Saitek support forum, and there is actually a FAQ subforum thread on this, the one entitled

"Fixing problems with 50% (or digital on/off) action with Saitek levers"

Hello Pete,

thanks for the answer. A little update. Following the user guide as good as I could I temporary removed the.ini file out of the modules, to see if the fsx settings are working better. Nada ! So it became clear to me that is was not only (if any) a FSUIPC problem. Tried some other settings there, but with no results. Until I saw a button with something like "reset all default settings". What had I to loose so I hit it. And,...Bingo ! Everything back to normal and after some callibration everything works as it should be. So it is possible when I move the .ini file back to the modules, the Callibration via FSUIPC will work again. I haven't tried it yet because I'm afraid to mess things up again. As I told the forum, I'm not a well seasoned simmer and have only basic computer knowledg. Beside that I'm from Belgium, so English is not my native language. Having a 'normal' conversation is not much of a problem. But all the technical stuff is something else. So I'm going to enjoy flying for some time, and afterwards I will try to replace the ini file and see wahat it does. Interested in a follow-up ?

Hope you had a nice holiday

KInd regards, Eddy

PS: but I will check out the Saitek link.

Where was this button? What program?

Certainly! Always best to make a thread complete. Please add the results here when you try. BTW you cannot mess anything up -- what's in FSUIPC stays in FSUIPC. It doesn't touch anything external to itself.

Hello again Pete,

good news! After the reset in the FSX settings everything in FSUIPC works as well. I did the same exercise twice (to be sure) and yes, all like it should be. Maybe good news for others simmer as well. It's really a very simple solution and it works for me. So no digging into the files in the belly of the sim, just click the "reset (or reload?) default" button. Sure worth trying !

Just one little issue, and this may be not be the right topic here, but it could save me some time searching for it, and I'm sure you know the answer. When I hit the differential brakes (I fly the A2A 172 and A2A PA-28) the diff. brakes are working ok, but when I press them both, to do a full brake, they stop braking once I passed the half-way point. Once passed this point I got no brakes at all. I had this a long time ago but can't remeber how it could be fixed. So please some advice to fix this.

Thanks in advance.

Kind regards,

Eddy
