Following the release of its hugely successful "Tower!2011" product, FeelThere confirmed its intention to craft a modern Air Traffic Controller Suite for the current generation of flight simulation enthusiasts. Today, we are pleased to reveal the latest release in the Tower! Franchise – Tower!3D

Tower!3D will arrive on Windows PC this Spring, followed by the Pro version with added features and voice recognition later in the year.

Following the success of Tower! 2011 and Tracon! 2012, Tower!3D will allow new and existing flight simulator and air traffic control fans to experience the thrill of controlling air traffic on and around airports from the airport tower.

Using an intuitive, mouse driven command system even non-English speaking users can enjoy the Tower!3D experience. Tower!3D uses the latest technology in rendering the whole environment in full 3D with realistic foliage, real time weather changes, volumetric lighting, AI traffic and much more.

Feelthere is also pleased to announce its partnership with Dovetail Games to bring this new title to Steam.

“Working with Dovetail Games proved to be a success reaching to customers who were outside of our typical sales channel. By adding Steam as our point of sales we hope we can introduce Flilght Simulation and Aviation to new and existing fans who use this next generation platform to purchase games ” said Victor Racz, president of FeelThere.

Nick Rooke, Director of Third Party Relationships at Dovetail Games added, “Following our partnership with the FeelThere team on content for Flight Simulator X: Steam Edition, we were very pleased to be able to work with them again in publishing Tower!3D on Steam. We look forward to sharing more news on this exciting offer with people soon.”

Tower!3D will be available on PC from Steam, www.atcsuite.com andwww.feelthere.com when released in the Spring.

More information about Tower!3D, including pricing and release date, will follow soon.

Dare we hope for an option to download real word weather?

By the way, you guys did a great job on the teaser video.  The music fits perfectly and really suck you in!  However, I am eager to see another video that shows the mouse interface in action.

Thank you Rob. Yes, Nyerges Design is already working on it.

I hope you aren't going to wait for the airline option pack to release this;  I'd buy it now with the 'fake' airlines knowing the option packs will come later (hint hint)

Nice ... been waiting for this ;-)

One question do come to mind. With the initial version not containing voice. Will it be possible to upgrade from the "basic" release to the pro version later and just pay the price difference? If so I'm ready to buy the "basic" version right now, and upgrade later. Otherwise I'm also going to wait for the pro version, as voice is a huge factor for me.

Ps. Planning to use Steam.

I can't wait for the 'Buy Now' button to work (hint hint, Vic!)

Yes, if you go to the product page from the feel there website, it has a buy button that looks active but is not.  They need to get their IT people working on that problem ASAP

Dear Folks,

Most likely we will contact the eligible customers for discount privately. Surely only customers who purchased their Tower!2011 directly from feelthere.com and atcsuite.com will be eligible for some discount. Also it needed to be bought within a certain (yet to be decided) time frame and the discount will be available only once and for a limited, short time period. We are not yet sure about the Pro version as it's still under development and we don't know yet when will it be released.

Just as a note, Tower!3D is still a pretty complex simulation. I tested it a lot during beta and there were times when I lost tracking of time and spent hours of controlling for fun :)

My consern regarding discount had nothing to do with Tower 2011. In fact personally owning Tower 2011 I see no reason that I should get a discount at all in the first place when purchasing Tower 3D, they are completely different products regardless of when you purchased it in my opinion! :)

As for upgrading from Tower 3D to Tower 3D Pro thats a completely different story. I cant talk for all of us here but I bet many are much less interested in Tower 3D than Tower 3D Pro and will purchase Tower 3D just because the Pro version is not available yet. I hate to have one licence for Tower 3D and one for Tower 3D Pro beeing the same core sim and all I really care about was the speech recognition part.

In my humble opinion both versions should have had speech recognition to begin with, then the standard version would have been all I needed.

I would buy the non-Pro version regardless of the Pro version features now, even knowing I would have to buy the Pro version later to get the newer features, especially since there is no ETA on the Pro version; having a 'discount' for those that bought the non-Pro version to 'upgrade' to the Pro version is a bonus.

I'm just drooling over the video and screenshots right now, and there is no way I would wait for the Pro version, so Vic, get that 'Buy' button working as I feel the 'flu' coming on (cough cough) and will need to take a ton of sick leave to 'get better'.... :P

Gentlemen,

Thank you very much for your comments they are appreciated.

With the release of Tower!2011 we believe we set the standard for voice recognition for atc products. However we received many requests from non English speaking customers to somehow make it compatible with mouse. With the feature list of Tower!3DPro we knew it right away it will be impossible to translate those commands to mouse clicks (typing them is OK but we wanted to have a mouse driven system) so we decided to split the development between two versions. Tower!3D is far from being a game; it received some of the features from the upcoming Pro version but we needed to rip some commands from the original Tower!2011 too to make sure it fits the mouse :) We spent a considerably time to balance the "gameplay" to make sure it wont be arcadish and it's still a simulator. Most of the team fell in love with this system, it's pretty fun and balanced. Even controlling at TIST will be interesting as we updated the schedule (thank you VERY much Dick!!!) and added even more local traffic. We also brought a feature from Pro so you will no longer have to wait for the first airplane to arrive or depart; the time will be advanced to the selected hour's first traffic.

Obviously we can't give away all features yet but I try to answer them as much as I can :)

Thank you

Vic

1. I'm still trying to get my head around this.  Sounds almost like the Pro version will represent an entirely separate product line.  That is to say, that not only will the basic version lack some features of the Pro version, but that the Pro version will also lack some features of the basic version.  Please clarify further.

2. Could you give us an example of the sorts of commands that were stripped from Tower!2011 for the basic version of Tower!3D?   For example I see from the marketing material that the basic version will include things like changing runways and takeoffs from intersections, which is great.  However, what kinds of things will we not be able to do? Speaking for myself, voice control is not something that I care about.  I do, however, care very much about micromanaging every aspect of the traffic.  Purely in terms of traffic micromanagement, will the Pro version have a large number of additional features, or just a few small ones?

3. How do you expect add-on airports to work in basic Tower 3D versus the Pro version?  Let's say I buy the basic version of Tower!3D, and then later buy an addo-on airport for it.  When the Pro version is released, will the add-on airport I already bought for the basic version also work with the Pro version, or would I have to buy a new version of it?

4. I am sorry to keep hitting you with tricky questions, but I think it is a very valid concern for the customer trying to decide whether to buy the basic version at release, or to wait for the Pro version.    I am very enthusiastic about the upcoming release, but if financially committing to one product line will penalize me if I later decide that I want to buy into the other one, then it gives me hesitation to buy either one until both have been released and I can compare the full feature lists  side by side to see which is right for me.  The more information and assurances in that regard that you give now, the more likely it is that more of us will buy the basic version at release.

!Pro will have all the functions from !3D. We are not yet sure how's the mouse commands will be brought over so it is possible it will be ripped from !Pro. However all controlling functions should be moved over to !Pro and we also add a bunch of new commands to !Pro based on the wishlist you Folks provided back a few years ago and we also had our own list of features. Almost all requests made their ways.

Airports will be compatible with both versions so one purchase will cover both Tower!3D and !Pro versions.

Intersection takeoffs and routing (via) command will be available for Tower!3D as well as !Pro. !3D is a very functioning sim, please don't think it became an arcade game. We took away a limited number of commands that really needed speech and we couldn't figure out how to translate it into clicks. You will see all the familiar commands such as follow company, intersection takeoffs via, etc

Thanks Vic.  That helps.  So how far are we from release?  <7days, 1-2 weeks, 2-4 weeks?
