I feel your pain. From day 1 of T!3DP, aircraft characteristics have been very much a sore spot for a large number of users. The taxiing after landing and other slowness are game engine flaws that were never addressed. Additionally, we lost a lot of customization capabilities with T!3DP that we had in T!2011. Unfortunately this caused us to totally rely on the quality of Real Traffic and Real Color. A poor business decision as these products have historically been sub standard.

Thankfully, it appears, FeelThere has heard the customer’s cries and will reintroduce editing capabilities with T!S3. Hopefully, the game engine will also be enhanced as needed. But for now, what you see is what you get!

Thanks for the reply!  Figured that would be the case...oh well!  Looking forward to the next version.  Hopefully, they'll have a lot of the flaws fixed as you said.  😁

  2. Hey all,

Haven't been around in ages, but just starting to get back into T3D Pro again, and already starting to pull my hair out lol.

Is it possible to get into the game files and edit various characteristics of aircraft?  For example, things like takeoff acceleration and distance; landing rollout speeds, etc.  It's super frustrating watching biz jets take forever to takeoff (they're rocket ships and accelerate very fast), and prevents a good flow.  Also, what about editing the distance they travel once turning off the runway?  Places like LAS and SFO, and I'm sure others, have a few spots where the aircraft will travel past the first taxiway rendering it unusable, and it really throws a wrench into everything.

These basic parameters, as you know, make it very difficult to run the game in certain configurations, like SFO's standard "Land 28s, depart 1s."

Just curious.  Hope you've all been well!

Edit:  I should clarify that, by changing parameters, I guess I meant more of "Is it possible to assign a Challenger the characteristics of the 73W" in the game...something simple like that.  Even though takeoff distance might be a bit more, at least they'll accelerate and get out of the way at a more reasonable rate.

Following on from my previous post, ok ok I'm kinda hijacking my own post.....

I'm thinking about getting KMEM, but have misgivings having read the collision horror stories, and the confusion about whether an update has been released (the Current Versions topic shows it as KMEM: Release") despite a thread I found which seems to indicate there was a patch, albeit for the Fedex runway issue.

What's everyone else's take on the airport?

    Thanks

    BLB

I bought it, played it a few times, and never re-visited it again.  When FedEx has their busy times, it's definitely a mad house.  Outside of those times, it's pretty dead.  (I don't think I used a custom schedule though.)

@CL30  Spead yr wings a bit. EGKK, Gatwick with Sp1 is now a good airport if you like various operators. It is really a single runway A/P with interesting taxiing requirements. I have gone back to this one lately after the SP1 release  including RC SP1. There are several RT packages available to choose from or you can make your own if you don't like the original RT package.

Like most A/P's, there are a predominancy of one operator, in EGKK it is  Easy Jet & Brtitsh Airways.

Only a suggestion to look at if you want something different to a US airport.

That's a great suggestion, and now I realize that I didn't say I was open to airports outside the US.  I should've said I was open to that, so thanks for the recommendation!

Rdu is a fun airport its not busy so of u like a slow airport rdu kmco is a good airport but if u like high volume lax JFK an Bos are really good kmem isn't a good airport has a lot of bugs I would recommend kbos with the different runway configuration

Thanks, yeah, I like LAX and BOS a lot.  Just looking for something different.  Might try MCO, guess I'll think about it and see if more replies follow.  😉

  6. Hey folks!  I'm not sure which to grab next.  Just kinda getting back into this game recently.  I just bought JFK this morning, and I'm disappointed- lots of bugs with taxi instructions.  What would be your pick for my next airport?

    I have these airports now:

    • KJFK
    • KSAN
    • KLAX
    • KLAS
    • KPHX
    • KMEM
    • KBOS
    • KPHL
    • KATL

Been thinking about MCO.  How's RDU though? I'd like something that stays pretty busy with a good a/c mix.

DFW Is great, provided you are staying on one terminal lol.  Though the trams have improved over the years as far as functionality and accessibility.  Still not the best way to lay that out.  ATL is not too bad.

Oh, we were referring to actually taxiing the plane around the surface, not navigating the terminals.  Sorry for the confusion!  DFW is actually pretty nice in that regard.

Have you flown into Atlanta? If so how is it in real life navigating the airport?

I've flown into ATL a couple of times. Wasn't an issue getting around either time. We parked at the GA ramp on the north and landed each time on the north side.  The more difficult airports to get around at are ORD, SFO, and even DFW at times.

  9. @crbascott hit the nail on the head with his list.  I would agree that LAS is probably the most fun on that list, with PHX a very close second.  I wouldn't spend money on MEM...hate to say that and trying not to sound negative.  SFO, like he said, can be fun, but only if using non realistic configurations.

Another fun one is ATL.  It can definitely get overwhelming quickly, and it can be really tricky getting planes from one side of the airport to the other.  Lots of potential conflict in the "alleys."

  10. For those of you that have both TRACON and Tower 3D Pro:  does TRACON have little bugs or nuisance items like we deal with in T3DP?  Meaning things like planes taking the wrong exit off the runway, slowly taxing off the runway, weird pushback issues, etc.  If TRACON has lots of little things like that then I may pass on it, but it it's pretty squared away then I'll probably pick it up.  Thanks!

Oh ok I will try that’s thanks

No problem.  An actual "cross runway" kind of command would be nice, but this works just as well.

One gotcha...some airports will have a glitch where the plane will taxi onto its departure runway when you have given these types of clearances.  I've had planes taxi into the backs of planes that are in position for takeoff, which results in a crash.  You'll just have to try it and see.
