  1. They do no harm. It is part of the natural and correct process documented by Microsoft. Regards Pete Hi Pete, I ran a test over the weekend. Since I couldn't track down a copy of 4.15, I completely removed FSUIPC. I then tried the same flight that hasn't been successful (KMIA-EGLL) with the PMDG 747x. This time, the flight went smooth, and there was no problem at the destination airport. I need to run a couple more to confirm the theory, but this was promising. For some reason, the 747x, and FSUIPC seem to crash with those simconnect errors. I know you mention they are harmless, but for ME, they must be causing something to crash FSX. It may be my setup, or just an anomaly. Just to be clear, my LVLD 767 works fine with FSUIPC. It's just the 747x that has this issue. I will test some more, and let you know. XP SP2 FSX SP1 Thanks, John
  2. Could you explain what it is you are trying to test, please? Maybe I can answer it for you without such hassle? Regards Pete Hi Pete, Basically, I'm having a consistant problem with the PMDG 747x. After many hours of flight, I'm getting an FSX crash with a generic error upon landing at the destination airport. After I receive the error message, and close FSX, I check the Windows event log, and see many simconnect errors with FSUIPC listed. It's not scenery related as I don't have any add-on scenery. After speaking to somone whom I consider and expert with FS, and computing, he mentioned that he had several reports of the same type of behavior, and in all cases, it was related to FSUIPC 4.2x having an issue with simconnect. He knew without me telling him that I was on 4.2x, and said that the problem was resolved by moving to 4.15. So, in order to test this theory, I need a copy of 4.15. It may work, or it may not, but at least it's worth a try. Flying with the end result being an error is very frustrating. Thanks for reading. John P.S. I have the registered version. The only facilities I use is the key stroke mapping to my yoke buttons.
  3. If anyone can please send me a copy of 4.15, I would really appreciate it. I need to test a theory I have. I will then post the results. Thanks, John
  4. Hi Pete, I may be blind, but I can't find where to download past versions of FSUIPC. I would like to test a theory I have by downgrading to 4.15. Can you lead me to the right place? Thanks, John
  5. Hi Pete. Thanks again for discussing, and trying to fix this. I hope they give you what you need to completely fix a huge ongoing problem for FS. It's getting to a point, where I don't use "real weather", due to the unrealistic, and frustrating results that occur. Can this discussion be pushed to other forums that Aces regularly reads? I see that Phil Taylor seems to float around at AVSIM quite a bit. I will continue testing for you if you find any way to fix this issue via FSUIPC. Thanks, John
  6. Thanks John. I have tried this, and while it does make things better, it's imperfect (no fault of Pete's, by the way - he's doing the best he can in a tough situation). I believe the only way this can be properly solved is to have ACES fix their algorithm. Being a professional developer myself, I even have some concrete ideas on how ACES can improve things. What we need to do is convince ACES that (a) their algroithm is buggy (and my data will certainly help with that!), and (b) it's impacting alot of users. Then, I think we may see some action. - Bill Crazy question, but have you sent Phil Taylor a note? I don't expect much action, but perhaps if enough people complain, they might just release a small fix for it... or I'm just dreaming. Thanks, John
  7. Here is some of the history on this: http://forums.simflight.com/viewtopic.php?f=54&t=64895&p=406784#p406784 - John
  8. Not wanting to give up without more of a struggle, I've now uploaded 4.175 with a renewed attempt at getting wind smoothing working. I'm managed to reduce the stuttering, but i fear it may also be less effective. I won't be able to do a full flight test on it till later in the week, but please try it yourself and let me know. Regards Pete I will test over the coming weekend. Thanks Pete. -John
  9. Thanks Pete! Your work is very much appreciated. I will look out for the new version, and give it a spin. At least it looks like all the research was not in vain. I hope that MS listens to you! - John
  10. Thanks Pete. I will start testing this week as soon as you release the latest. - John
  11. That's worrying. Not sure how they could arise .... FSUIPC certainly doesn't invent winds, and the incremental values to those which exist should be reasonably small. Where are you seeing these reported? If through WeatherSet or Radar Contact or other programs reading weather via the NWI, that may just be incorrect reporting due to me breaking the NWI, not 'real' winds. Okay. If you still see "freaky winds", please close FSX, add these lines to the [General] section in the FSUIPC4.INI file, and test again. Try to keep the test short as the log will get huge: Debug=Please LogExtras=256 Zip up the log and post to petedowson@btconnect.com. Thanks, Pete I saw the freaky winds when on approach to KLAS. Prior to that, it was mostly ok. When on approach to KLAS, my airspeed jumped from 220kts to 270, then 190, then 270, etc... It finally stuck at over 260, at which point I had no forward motion. In addition, the plane yawed back and forth from left to right with the rapidly changing wind. I'm not using any outside weather, just FS real weather. I have loaded the latest version, and am testing. I will report back. Thanks, John
  12. I have been testing with 4.169, and had some REALLY strange results. 260kts winds, rapidly changing wind, freaky stuff. I just saw your note about 4.17x, so I've just downloaded it, and will test with it. Thanks, John
  13. Hi Pete, I humbly apologize! My mistake, as I've just started getting back to this forum. - John
  14. Okay, thanks. 4.168 is up in the FSX Downloads announcement now. Regards Pete Hi Pete, On the download page (http://www.schiratti.com/dowson.html), it shows 4.16, with a release date of August 28. Is the correct file there? Thanks, John
  15. Hi Pete, Sure, I will try it out. What kind of performance hits am I looking for? I just want to make sure that I recognize the issues properly. Thanks, John
  16. Yes, of course. Nothing will have changed in this regard until Microsoft overcome what they perceive as the more important issues -- according to feedback they get. Erhow many upgrades giving FSX progress have you seen so far? There's only been SP1, which was primarily a performance and major bug fix update. SP2, the only other one expected this year, will be about DX10, and performance again. Pete Hi Pete, Sorry, I mis-typed. What I meant was that the wind problem has been a problem throughout multiple versions of FS, and is still in FSX. I know they have had only one update, but I have a lack of faith that they will address this type of issue, because they have bigger issues to deal with. That's why I was looking to you as you have been able to make things better through FSUIPC. Thanks for reading. - John
  17. Hi Pete, A couple months ago, you mentioned that you didn't have what you needed from MS to incorporate the wind smoothing option into FSUIPC for FSX, to fix the bad wind shifts again. Is this still the case? In my opinion, FSX made no progress on this issue. The wind still shifts back and forth unrealistically. I loved your wind smoothing for FS9. It worked excellently! Thanks again, John
  18. Thanks Peter. I will see what I can find out, and send you a file if it can be reproduced. You do an outstanding job on your products, which I have used for many years. I hope that MS appreciates what you do to fix shortcomings for them! :) - John
  19. Hi Guys, I heard that FSX has the same wind problems that FS9 had (abrupt wind changes) that are unrealistic. I see that FSUIPC for FSX does not include the wind smoothing option yet to help fix this issue. Is this something that's being worked on, and if so, how far down the line is it? Thanks in advance, John
  20. NEVER MIND, my fault! Somehow I accidentially programmed the yoke button to the FS brake command. Not sure how! Sorry for note. - John
  21. Hi Guys, I was running FSUIPC 3.53, and had no problems assigning the two keys to my CH Yoke. I just upgraded to 3.70, and when I assign the "Z" key to button #0, it not only sends the "Z" command, but also a "brake" command, most likely a "." I have tried to set it multiple times, but it keeps activating the brake as well as the A/P disengage. Not sure what else to do. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, John
