  1. ok, now for the interesting part:

    I have now the last days installed:

    P3D with HF2

    LINDA

    ORBX Vector, Germany North, Trees, Global

    Aivlasoft EFB, PFPX, TOPCAT, AS16 and ASCA

    and FSUIPC 4959 of course

    the sim was running the last days without a problem.

    Now today I have installed Digital Design LOWS (including SODE) and PMDG 737 and 777.

    And I have the issue with vanishing P3D to a background task again.

    I have then run the installer FSUIPC 4958 and it has said that there's a newer FSUIPC version and is has not been overwritten. But after that I was able to run the sim.

    FSUIPC.log says also version 4959 is still installed.

    You shouldn't need to reinstall anything after replacing RAM, surel?. Or are you suspecting the integrity of everything which has been accessed through defective memory?

    I got a lot of BSODs and wanted to trace them down and was finally convinced it is a driver problem. So I reinstalled anything and guess what: the BSODs came back one after another till finally even my BIOS freezed.

    Yes, I should have been testing RAM some steps further, but the BSODs always hinted me to some driver errors. Ok, lesson learned.Luckily I have such a good backup system, that it doen't take long

    Win7??? Never ;)

    So, first startup with

    UpdatedByVersion=4959

    FSVersionUsed="Lockheed Martin® Prepar3D® v3",3.4.18.19475
    SimConnectUsed=3.4.0.0

    is working

    I'm curious at which point the error comes up again ... if so

    just the LINDA lua running?

    Just the LINDA.exe running

    Sorry, that I have not reported back the last days. Have had several BSODs, RAM was defect. Have to install everything from scratch now (WIN10 64 Pro)

    But that is the possibility to test on a vanilla system without anything.

    Will report back later

    gypsycar was able to restart P3D after with most of the different options removed, one at a time.

    But be careful as I could also restart P3D several times also with 4959!

    The issue begins when I send my computer to sleep or shut down for some time, hope you've taken this into account with your tests. (But I don't know if thats the case with others, too. But it is here a 100% reproduceable thing)

    As you talk about versions:

    the 4949f is just one I have had saved. I used another, more actual version before I have updated to 4959, but can't remember the number. But normaly I keep FSUIPC relatively updated. So, 4949f is just the last backup I had unfortunately. maybe you could provide me the last version before 4959 and I could try this also?

  5. Hello Pete,

    ok, now I have made my test run. (nothing disabled, nothing changed)

    - Installed 4959

    - started sim twice without problems, made also a flight, everything normal

    - shut down computer in sleep state for a minute, woke it up again

    - started P3D again twice, works

    - shut down computer for about one hour (also sleep state)

    - started P3D again several times, error is present: P3D vanishes into the background tasks. Have to kill P3D in task manager background tasks.

    (and this is now the very obscure thing, that it just happens after some time the PC was sent to energy saving state (sleep). I have observed this very often with 4959)

    No FSUIPC.log is produced

    - added  P3dhacks=36 as you said - no difference unfortunately. Tried it also several times.

    - then copied back the FSUIPC.dll 4949 (which I have saved before), but P3D vanishes also into the background task. This is sth. I observed also before. I have to reinstall FSUIPC now with 4959 (have no older installation file, from 4949 I just have the FSUIPC.dll) and then copy back the FSUIPC.dll 4949.

    - ok, then re-installed with Install FSUIPC4.exe to version 4549 again ---> P3D is working as it should.

    will copy back then the FSUIPC.dll with 4949.

    Hope this helps.

    I can assume it must be a horrible scenario for you, sorry ;)

  6. Hello,

    yes, I have HF2 and it runs without problems. I get one red line in the LINDA console (which shows the FSUIPC.log in case of an error), can't remember which. (edit: the friction line) But it runs

  7. Ok,

    I'll add my findings here too and hope it helps to resolve the error.

    I have also since version 4959 (P3D 3.4.) the issue that the sim starts and then "vanishes" into nowhere. Task Manager shows P3D running, all other tools, which are related to P3D do also behave normal as P3D is running. It is not possible to restore the window - even not with ALT+Arrow to move a window, there is no window.

    When I reinstall FSUIPC, then it works till I restart my computer, or better said, I send him to sleep mode (energy saving). Can't currently say if the issue persists also, when I shut down the PC completely as I normaly use energy saving (sleep). Once the issue comes up and I reinstall FSUIPC it is gone till the next sleep.

    I have removed everything LINDA related from the modules folder --> issue persists

    I have disabled any other addon in the exe.xml and dll.xml --> issue persists

    deleted FSUIPC.ini --> issue persists

    disabled FSUIPC in the dll.xml --> issue solved

    Tried to start with simStarter (what I normally use) and also without simStarter. Tried several saved flights and created new saved flights --> issue persists

    I have now reverted to FSUIPC v 4949f and have no problems. (I haven't had access to possible version between, just had the 4949f stored somewhere, so couldn't test later ones between 4949f and 4959)

    many thanks!

    Why not refer to the Offsets Status document installed in your FSUIPC Documents folder? That is what it is for! Just search on the word "Free". It includes 66C0.

    Documentation is provided for you to use. Much more efficient than posting here, surely?

    In the document I can see (and that is where I get the number):

    66C0 Free for general use, for example in button or keys programming.

    But it doesn't tell me if there are other offsets I can use and if so, what the numbers are. That was my question.

    I'm no mathemathician or programer, so I could just assume that there are possible offsets between 66C0 and 6700? If so, the next question is how I could count these type of numbers?

  9. Hello Pete,

    hope you had nice holiday!

    we try to make the simulator communicate with some external gauges.

    For testing purposes I found now one way to make a LUA script:

    FT = ipc.readLvar("FuelTankTop")
    ipc.writeUW(0x66C0, FT)

    and let offset 66C0 read from the external software what is working actually.

    So, now my two questions:

    1)

    I know there's a range of free offsets one can use ... however I haven't found any documentation what range it is. I found 66C0 somewhere (don't ask me where, I do not remember) and do need now some more free offsets I could use

    2)

    The LUA script is executed now (for testing) just by pressing a joystick button -  so the data is just sent, when the button is pressed.

    How could I make the script running continiously to send the data, and is there any danger of "overloading" the sim with it?

    Or do you have a better idea how to send or grab that values?

    We talk about the A2A Spitfire. And like with every advanced addon there are functions which couldn't be read as standard FSUIPC offsets. So, I have seen you have provided an offset mappig for 737/777 directly in FSUIPC... so, is this something I could achive also (without using LUA scripts) or is that sth. just you could provide with native code inside FSUIPC?

    I hope you understood my question ;)

    many thanks!

    Günter

  10. Hello,

    I checked controls and ESC is assigned via the normal P3D menu to end scenario and there's no assignment in FSUIPC (even not possible)

    So, it is 100% reproduceable:

    FSUIPC enabled: short scenario end menu

    FSUIPC disabled (via DLL.xml) results in the longer scenario menu

    (Or, to be more precice: the longer scenario end menu is BEFORE the short one, so with FSUIPC enabled, the long one is supressed.

  11. Hello Pete,

    a question after a long time again ;)

    I use the following LUA script to assign cowl flaps (in this case) to several addons:

    -- Assignments valid for all A2A Addons and Realair Duke

    -- rounds the integer
    function round(num)
    	num = tonumber(num)
    	if num == nil then return 0 end
        if num >= 0 then return math.floor(num+.5)
        else return math.ceil(num-.5) end
    end

    function round2 (num, idp)
      num = tonumber(num)
      if num == nil then return 0 end
      local mult = 10^(idp or 0)
      return math.floor(num * mult + 0.5) / mult
    end

    So far, they work as they should, however I have encountered now, that these scripts (or the assigning of these scripts) cause big stutters. From 40 to 50th down to 10 or 5 frames in unregular intervals. With unregular intervals I mean not exactly every second as example, but nearly every second - sometimes more, sometimes less.

    If the levers stay at zero, there's no problem.

    I have assigned that scripts via "send to FS as normal axis" and I use FSUIPC 4.937 in P3Dv2.4

    Do you have any idea what is the issue here?

    Many thanks,

    Günter

  12. Hello Pete,

    if I use the Traffic Zapper in P3D v2, it crashes (CTD) P3D, faulting module FSUIPC4.dll.

    This is 100% reproduceable and occurs only if I "zapp" onto an airplane.

    If I do not aim at an airplane (hearing just the zap sound, but no plane is zapped away), the sim does not crash.

    Any idea to solve this?

    Many thanks,

    Guenter
