Thank you for the responses.
John:
I found this paragraph related to Radar Contact in the MAKERWYS README version 5.13
by Pete Dowson © 2022 that was included in the .zip file when I downloaded the most current version from your fsuipc.com website.
UPDATING RADAR CONTACT's TRANSITION ALTITUDES FILE
If you are a user of Aivlasoft's EFB program for FSX/P3D, then part of the updated data you will have is a file with the correct Transition Altitudes for most airports in the world. MakeRunways can now automatically use that file to update Radar Contact's list too.
In order to do this, you must copy RC's "M4.CSV" file into the root FS folder, next to
MakeRunways. Don't worry about EFB -- if that is correctly installed then MakeRunways will find it.
To tell MakeRunways to update M4.CSV add a command line parameter: /+T
(It is “T” for “Transition Altitude”).
When MakeRunways has finished simply copy the M4.CSV file back into RC's Data folder.
I probably misinterpreted this as applying to either Aivlasoft's EFB or Radar Contact. My apologies if this is in fact the case.
Pete:
I'm not able to actually successfully use Radar Contact in MSFS. From time to time as new releases of MSFS become available and I install them, I will try RC on the off chance that somewhere in the myriad of changes/fixes included in a new version there will be something that will affect RC in a positive manner. Thus far that answer is "No". I understand that there are issues with weather, menus and transition altitudes, but I am forever the optimist. 😉
I got farther with this latest release than I have before. A RC "menu" was visible via my use of ShowText (I guess) and it listed the correct departure airport from my flight plan (as loaded into RC). Also listed were the correct radio frequencies for weather and clearances. When tuned to the weather frequency, I was able to hear the RC "voice" giving me weather information - not correct as you would suspect: QNH 0000, temp 0, dewpoint 0, etc. Additionally, the "menu" did not respond to any key presses.
I also had updated the RC database and, because of my likely misunderstanding of the text from the README.pdf quoted above, I also ran makerwys from a command prompt adding the /+T and /+Q paramaters. No joy, as you have explained. So my hope (vain though it may be) of a working RC in MSFS gets kicked down the road like the proverbial can.
Thanks to both of you, however, for your understanding, patience and listening to the ramblings of an old (77) man.
