  1. Yes, I initially did not because I wanted to check with you first. But, I have tried it and, HOORAH, it works. Thank you so much for staying with me and all of your help. You da man. Bobk.
  2. Thank you again for sticking with me. Does this look correct now? 3. That is correct. I still do not have an FSUIPC4.log file nor an FSUIPC4.ini file. Here is a copy of my corrected DLL.XML file. Thank you for your continued help. 4. Pete, I did as you suggested but still do not have FSUIPC as an add-on in FSX. Can I delete my modules folder and re-install FSUIPC4 and start all over again? BobK
  5. Thanks for the help. I'll do as you suggested, give it a try, and let you know how it works out. BobK
  6. I do not have an FSUIPC4 log file nor an INI file in my Modules folder. Also, FSX did not ask me to approve it being loaded the first time. As requested, here is the DLL.XML file. 7. I ran a successful install of FSUIPC4.82. When I start up FSX., no add-on drop down menu shows nor does any reference to FSUIPC show. I checked my FSX modules folder and all is there. I especially need FSUIPC to run FSFlyingSchool. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, BobK. 8. Thanks again Pete for your time and efforts to be of help. As far as I can tell, my SimConnect.INI file is now correct and it is placed in: My Documents\Flight Simulator x folder. As I just wrote ulf, since I may be purchasing a new computer in the not too distant future, hopefully, I might just leave everything alone for now. I have not noticed any difference or problem when I fly without FSUIPC4. I do appreciate all of your responses and attempts to help. Sorry I was such a dufus at times. Bob K.
  9. Yes, ulf, I did save the file in the correct location. I am thinking that since I may be purchasing a new computer in the not too distant future, I may leave everything as it is, and load FSX without FSUIPC4 for now. Flying without FSUIPC, does not seem to be causing any problem that I can notice. Bob K.
  10. Pete, Thanks for the continued help. I will correct the file and try again. In regard to your question about what do I mean that I run FSUIPC4, this is what I wrote on October 25 about that: "Also, the reason I am asked if I want to run FSUIPC4 is when originally I was unable to get anything to work,FSUIPC4 loaded or not, I was advised at another forum to delete my FSX.CFG files, re-start FSX and let the program rebuild. When I did that and startd FSX I was then asked if I wanted to run FSUIPC4. When I selected not to, at least I was able to run FSX. So, now I only run FSUIPC4 when given a choice to do so permanantly or for that time only, I chose for that time only. That, therefore, lets me fly again upon another re-start after the game freezes. I am happy I have that choice,at least." I'll forward a copy of my Simconnect log as soon as I do it right. Thanks again. UPDATE: Here is my new and improved SimConnect.ini file: [simConnect] level=Verbose console=No file=C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\Modules\SimConnect%01u.Log file_max_index=9 But, I still do not have a SimConnect log in my FSX modules folder. Now what am I doing wrong? Bob K.
  11. Pete, I think I have finally created the Simconnect.ini file. BTW, it is not that I do not read your instructions, it is that in regard to making changes and files, I am just not very bright. Be that as it may, here is a copy of the file I created and placed in My documents\flight simulator x file. [simConnect] level=Verbose console=No file=C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\ Microsoft Flight Simulator X\Modules\SimConnect%01u.Log file_max_index=9 I ran FSX, ran FSUIPC4, clicked on "Fly now", the flight loaded, and the program froze. When I got everyting up and running on my computer again, however, I did not have a Simconnect log in my FSX modules folder. I Think what I will do now, is delete the original Simconnect file in Windows, and run the FSX repair. Oh, I did remove(but saved) the .wx files as you suggested. Any additional ideas before I do the repair? Bob K.
  12. Pete, Again thanks for the response. Could you please help me create a SimConnect log and tell me exactly where I should place its location? Here is a copy of what I created. Is this even close to being correct? SimConnect] level=Verbose console=No file=\Modules\SimConnect%01u.Log file_max_index=9 I have it as a text file in notepad that is labeled as "SimConnect.ini.text". Also, if a SimConnect log is created, where would I find it. BTW, the other writer's log file is the same as mine with only two SimConnects noted and he says his FSX runs fine with FSUIPC4. What gives? Bob K.
  13. Hi Pete,(and Ulf), Thanks again for taking the time to respond. Yes, the problem persists but now almost exclusively freezes once the "fly now" flight is loaded. I have done a total re-install of FSUIPC4. Here are copies of the FSUIPC logs. BTW, if an older version of FSUIPC4 is available could you just placate me and provide it to me? Also, the reason I am asked if I want to run FSUIPC4 is when originally I was unable to get anything to work,FSUIPC4 loaded or not, I was advised at another forum to delete my FSX.CFG files, re-start FSX and let the program rebuild. 14. Hi Pete, Well I finally found the time to do as you suggested, that is, delete the latter two simconnects from the Windows file, unistalled Acceleration, and do a clean install of Acceleration. I am pretty sure it was a clean re-install as I had to re-register the product before FSX would load. Unfortunately, my initial problem still persists, again, only if I accept to load FSUIPC. I checked in my Windows file, and I do have three versions of Simconnect: 60905; 61242; and 61259. I would like to install an older version of FSUIPC4 and see if that makes a difference. Is there anyway I can get an older version? Thanks again for any help. Bob K.
  15. So if your install log is like mine, why am I still haveing the problem? Oh, I just checked my most recent FSUIPC install log and noticed that it lists my version of FSUIPC as 4.400 but I have version 4.5.30 installed and it does appear in my modules folder?!? Could that be causing FSX to freeze? And if so, how do I fix it. Should I uninstall FSUIPC and do a re-install? Further, is there a way I can get an older version of FSUIPC such as 4.400? Thank you for any help. Bob K.
  16. Hi Pete, Here is a copy of the Simconnect.ini file I created and place as you suggested. I note that it is an ".ini.text" file. Is that O.K.? If not, I do not know how to make it a pure :.ini" file. Anyway, I did load FSX and ran FSUIPC. BTW, this time it only took 2 minutes. Well, when I clicked on "fly now" the flight started in Clearwater, sound went out and all at first froze. If I put my cursor on the panel, the hour glass showed. Then the Fatal Error message showed and the program closed back to desktop. When I went to my Modules folder, however, there was no Simconnect log there. Here is a copy of the most recent load file. 17. Well, I'm just a big DUHHHH! I did see the announcements when I first registered, but was so focused on getting to your specific forum, I only scanned them. I did find the correct FSX Help you posted and will get back to you when I have been able to follow the directions and send to you the Simconnect.log I do appreciate your patience. I am not e newbie but I am also not a computer whiz either. I too thought that SP1 was part of acceleration pack as well. I truly would hate to do an entire clean install. Again, thank you for your continued help. P.S. Here is the file I created. Does it look correct or do I have to show the entire path by: "c:\program files\microsoft games\flight simulator x\modules\etc.? 18. Thank you again,Pete. I will get the info to you as soon as I can. BTW, I have not done an unistall of FSX. As you can see, I have installed the Acceleration package. Get back to you. P.S. I am sorry to bug you but I can not find the instructions for obtaining the simconnect log. I did go to the Simhow website. Would you be so kind as to direct me more specifically or provide me a link? Thank you. Bob K.
  19. Thank you so much for the comprehensive response. I am running on a rather older machine. My specs are: Dell Dimension 8400 Windows XP Media center edition Pentium 4 cpu 2.99GHz 1.00 gig ram I do have a few scenery add-ons for specific airports ,but I also have GEX and UTX installed. I have UTX, however, cranked down somewhat. In regard to default flight versus previous flight, the latter was attempted to be loaded when on start-up of FSX,when asked, I ran FSUIPC. The default flight was loaded successfully after I closed FSX, re-started, and did not run FSUIPC. Please know that any flight I load, including missions, freezes or gives me a fatal error message if I at start-up run FSUIPC. All flights load fine and all goes well if I do not run FSUIPC. Well, with all of that said, here is the additional info you requested. I do appreciate your continued interest and help. 22. Thank you for your quick response. Before I send you the info requested, please allow me to respond to your first question. I have been using FSX and then with Accelerator with lots of add-ons successfully since each came out. All of a sudden, when I would click on "fly now" and I would be looking at my vc panel and down the runway, FSX would either give me a fatal error message or my entire system would freeze and the only thing I could do is turn off my computer, wait a minute and turn it back on. All the fatal error message gave me was that FSX would have to close and I could chose to have it re-start or not. I also was given a choice of sending an error report or not. No other information was available. After posting on two other forums(yesterday someone advised me to contact yours) I was told to delete FSX.CFG and text, re-start FSX and let it rebuild. When I did that I was first asked if I wanted the assgnments done for me and after that I was asked if I wanted to run FSUIPC. If I click to the latter, I get the problem prior described. If I chose not to run FSUIPC as asked, it seems all is well. I do have the latest install of FSUIPC4 and it is in my Modules folder. Again, thanks for the response and I'll try to send the info you asked for as soon as possible. I must say, I was first kind of taken aback that THE Pete Dowson was bothering to respond to my post. Bob K.
  23. Although I had 151 views to my post, I had only one response. Over time, however, I was able to fix the problem and thought posting that fix may help others. I learned from other posts how to delete my FSX.CFG and text file from my Documents and Settings, etc. file, restart FSX and allow it to rebuild those files. As FSX was loading, it would ask me if I wanted Acceleration to set my assignments(I do have Acceleration),I clicked "yes", and it asked me if I wanted to load the newest FSUIPC,to which I also clicked "yes". The fatal error message continued to occur. The most recent time, however, I just took a chance and clicked "no" to loading the most recent FSUIPC. Amazingly, no more fatal error message and all is well. I am not savvy enough to know why this fixed the problem, but I'll take the end result. Hope this is helpful to someone else. I do wonder, however, even though FSX seems to be running fine, do I need to find a way to run FSUIPC without causing the fatal error message? Bob K.
