  1. Thanks for your response Pete... When I downloaded both products, I put them in folders on the desktop so I'll be able to find them after getting them installed. I will admit...I didn't put the WideServer Module in the FS Module folder. I actually had a friend set things up for me 2 yrs ago, linking my Vista to a system w/XP. Will look things over again, you enjoy your trip, and again Merry Christmas
  2. Pete...Merry Christmas to you and your Family. Instead if starting another post on the same topic, I thought I would add on here. I notice you said you need the WideServer and WideClient log files. Can you tell me where I can find them so I can post? I'll be at work tomorrow 12/19 and won't be back till 12/23, so please excuse me if I don't respond between that time I'm using FSUPIC/Wide FS on my laptop which has Vista. I got a new computer just for FS9 which uses Windows 7. I have them networked, I did a ping, they are talking. I've uninstalled/reinstalled twice. They are registered versions. On the Windows 7 computer, I turned off the firewalls. When I reinstalled FSUPIC, I did it under Admin, but Wide FS I couldn't. Thank you for any help you can give... Alex B.
  3. Figured out what the problem was......have to run as admin. Thought since I was signed on as admin on whole computer, it would work. But when requesting a program to run, had to right click, select run as admin, and it all works
  4. I'm having the same problem. I'm trying to get FS Commander9 and VAFS to work w/Wide FS Client on laptop, which has Vista on it. ********* WideClient Log [version 6.78] Class=FS98MAIN ********* Date (dmy): 10/02/11, Time 09:55:48.401: Client name is TRACIEANDALE-PC 265 Attempting to connect now 811 Server = FLIGHT-7245DFB2 842 Trying TCP/IP host "FLIGHT-7245DFB2" port 8002 ... 842 ... Both computers show connected (Wide Server shows 1 connected, Wide FS shows connected)...FS Commander and VAFS isn't detecting Flight Sim 9 The computers are showing in the same network group Both have FSUPIC (regiestered). Both have version 3.984. I have dropped the firewalls on both to get the info to go between them, no luck. Computers still show connected, but VAFS and FS Commander9 not connecting to Flight sim I am not a computer pro, I drive a truck for a living. So please be patience as I try to understand Thank you for your help
  5. Pete, I found the problem...it was the firewall on my laptop. I dropped it, and it connected. But I put it back up, and its still there. Thanks for the help and the direction to look in. Please keep up the great job you do!!!
  6. Didn't know I had goofed...sorry Pete, just having a time trying to make this all work. Thanks for your help and all you do Alex
  7. The two computers are connected, I did that last night The version of FS is FS9, and I'm using it on a seperate PC, it has the WideServer on it. It's Windows OS is XP My Laptop has WideFS 6.78, using Windows Vista. Both units have FSUPIC 3.98 on them, and they are registered. I'm trying to find the Log Files...I saw them last night and this morning before sending my first msg I'm no expert at any of this at all Pete, but any help you can give me would help. I've read your section on Configure Network, and I've tried to edit the config file in the WideClient.ini (on my laptop because that is where it is) and it won't allow me to save. Mind you the laptop has Vista
  8. Mr.Dowson, Sir, I have been sitting here trying not to throw this computer to the wolves. I have been looking and have read your instructions on Wide FS, but I'm not the sharpest tool in the sheed when it comes down to computers. Last night, I put the WideClient.exe and WideClient.ini in a folder named Wide Client on my laptop. I clicked on the Wide Client App to get it started, and another screen popped up saying "Waiting for connection", while on my flight sim computer, it says "waiting for clients". Like I said sir, I'm not the sharpest tool when it comes down to working this thing, but I've all but run out of ideas on what I have to do to get this work. If you could, please help..... Thanks, Alex Brown
