  1. Same with me. I am very cautious about what I download and what emails I open etc., etc. I don't think I have any virus or anything but maybe it's what I need to do. I did try the controller on two other computers. One running windows 7 the other XP, and it worked perfectly on both. Thanks for the quick replies. George
  2. Thanks Pete. I think you are right. Saiteks only advice is to have me send it back to them. I've tried everything else suggested. Hopefully it is a hardware issue with the controller and not something with my computer. They also recommended I completely re-install Windows. Does that seem like a good option? Anyways, thanks for your help.
  3. Hi Pete, I apologize for bringing up this topic under the wrong part of the forum. I've searched through the different topics and although it may exist I cannot find it. Again my newbie status really shows at times like these. If there is a better place for me to post this topic I will gladly do so if you could point me in the right direction. Everything works great with FSUIPC and FSX by the way. Thanks again for the help. My new problem is with Saitek's pro flight yoke and throttle quadrant. I just purchased this and attempted to use it today. It seems that my computer, and/or fsx recognizes the devices only for a few seconds, then stops working. If I un-plug and re-plug them in they work again for a few seconds. I have tried all sorts of fixes I read about on the net with no luck. The reason I bring this up to you is one of the posts I read on another site mentioned un-installing the device drivers, installing FSUIPC from this site and trying to see if they will work from there. I do not know how to un-install drivers...only programs. I thought that you might have some experience here. Again, I apologize for bringing this up here. I realize it isn't the right thread for this issue but again I'm lost. Thanks again in advance.
  4. I agree. It's unbelievable what you guys have done with this software. I've had it for years and am a corporate pilot in real life and this is the most fun I've had in years. So thanks for your help. Glad I finally got it working with your help. I'm sure it won't be my last issue. (it never is)
  5. I'm not sure why you're so grumpy. I plainly said I'm sure nothing I did was what fixed it. I did everything you said to do and it worked...I apologize that I was frustrated and was trying anything. I never said the documentation was the problem, I was just trying anything that might work. Never said it worked. Actually this forum has been very helpful to me. I'm sorry you take things so personally. I did re-download the software and have all the documentation back. Did that before you so politely told me not to ask anymore questions. It's responses like that that turn new people away from sites like this. I tried very hard to make sure I explained all my problems and all my futile steps to you very clearly. Maybe I should have just kept my mouth shut then. I know this forum isn't the place for argument but it seems like anytime someone does something that you don't agree with you get pissy and upset. Anyways, thanks for your help. I did EXACTLY what you told me to do and guess what? It worked! I apologize for myself and anyone else who takes some initiative to try and fix problems on our own. Guess we can't be as smart as you.
  6. Not sure what exactly happened, but it works now. Since FSX had no problem starting when FSUIPC was installed through the ACARS installation, I wrote down all the files that were copied to the FSX/modules folder. Then I deleted them and installed FSUIPC through this website and the subforum link you gave me. I compared the two and deleted any file that wasn't the same as the ACARS download. Pretty much just doc files and adobe files. I then put in the acceleration cd and rain the repair process. Re-started my computer and tried again. Alas it worked! I'm sure it has less to do with any fiddling around I did and more to do with the persistence thing. Thanks for your help and your quick replies.
  7. 1) The add-on menu has never been there. Not when the version from ACARS is installed (maybe it's the same), and when I install it from http://www.schiratti.com/dowson.html , FSX won't start, just crashes. 2) I probably did not need to purchase it, but being naive and quite frankly stupid in these areas I purchased without reading enough to find out it wasn't necessary. 3) I am not sure if FSX is updated to SP2, but I do have FSX Acceleration installed. That's the add-on with the F-18, etc. right? Still doesn't work. 4) I am using the version from the website http://www.schiratti.com/dowson.html I assume that's the most up to date version. I did what you said and downloaded version 4.703 from the download link sub forum. Still the same problem. I spent over an hour on the phone today with alienware support trying to determine if it was a problem with my computer. We couldn't find anything and they have been pretty honest up to now if there has been a hardware or software issue. I am running Windows 7 Ultimate, 64-bit. Don't know if that could be an issue or not. It has caused a few other software programs to be tricky in the past. Maybe not. All I know is I'm frustrated and I really want to get started with this. Anyways, thanks for your quick response. Let me know if you have any other suggestions to try. I will continue to try and load FSX until it hopefully works. Thanks again.
  8. Hello there. I have read through this and tried to find a solution to my problem. I have NOT re-installed FSX but am still having problems. This is my first time trying to use Delta Virtual Airline, and in turn it is my first time with FSUIPC. Here is my problem. I successfully downloaded and installed ACARS from the DVA website. I have followed all directions when choosing and saving flights, etc. I get as far as loading my saved flight plan into ACARS. I click connect and it connects just fine. By this time I have already opened FSX, chosen my airplane, flight plan, and loaded the flight. After setting the parking brake I notice there is NO add-on menu next to help where, from what I've read, it should be. Nevertheless I go click start flight in ACARS, and one of two things happens. Either I get a message that says, "FSUIPC did not load correctly" or something along those lines, or it just shuts down. I have gone to the website and purchased FSUIPC4. When I download it and install, it accepts my information and keys no problem. Once I am done installing I try to stars FSX. I get to the initial blue welcome screen, hear about 2 seconds of music, and it crashes. I get a message that says FSX has stopped working. As you can see I am quite frustrated. I have no doubt that it is not the software that is the problem but my general lack of knowledge when it comes to these sort of things. I have tried uninstalling ACARS, deleting FSUIPC and re-installing both. Everytime I get the same message. DVA hasn't been able to help me. All their suggestions failed. You are my last hope. If you can I would appreciate any assistance you can be. Thank you in advance.
