Hey :)
Ok so I tried installing as admin; that didn't seem to help but I also read your notes about not installing in C:\program files\ everything I have is in there including FS and it has not really given me any problems other than when I try to modify aircraft.cfg or sound.cfg, etc but those are easily fixed. My point is this: it worked FINE this whole time without much change and even some minimal changes it worked fine then one day I can't look up airports well... there was no data at all it listed cities and countries but no airports!
So I did the next best thing; I installed FSC9 in C:\FSC\ (and yes I forgot to run it in admin mode; but it still installed anyway) as per your notes I also left it "for everyone" I know the implications of doing it the other way makes it much more difficult so I don't really use the "only me" option. I ran the database; and I fired up FSC9 for the FSX database and it works I can look up airports and all.
What I'm trying to tell you is and which I tried to tell you before; there seems to be some kind of database issue and how do I fix it? (even if I delete the database so I can generate a new one, re-running the DB builder doesn't fix the problem just FYI)
well nonetheless I got it installed and it works but I also have FSBuild as a backup

I don't know, but it worked fine when I installed it for the first time when I first got win8 and its been fine for the last 6 months. I also should point out to you that the FS9 database works fine too just not the FSX; it won't recgonize any airport codes I enter. (yes I know FSC uses a separate database for each MSFS)
-
I'm also going to reinstall to a different folder and see if that helps I've never had this issue ever since owning FSC7/8/9 until I got here on win8 (well it worked for quite awhile on win8 the way it is)

Hi ???,
And what you have changed between yesterday and today? The FSC is not so smart that he has no fun to work!
Please read here:

and here also:

Well that's my problem, there hasn't been any real changes in the past day but there were changes before that and it worked fine.
So here are the specs you're asking for
Win8
FSC 9.22 downloaded from your website
FSCDB 9.2 Build 15-May-2012

so I'm getting this error: "no airport for this ICAO code found"
So I figured I misspelled it, nope it happens to EVERY airport, I've even tried looking up airports via city name; nothing no airports are listed
I have tried to rebuild the database; no change
so I uninstalled/reinstalled and even did the update to 9.2.2 result? No change I still get this error
This program was working fine yesterday, how does this happen suddenly? I know there's a database problem somewhere but I am not sure what to do.
I tried FSC for FS9; it works fine as it obviously uses a different database.
This is my only flight planner and I'd like to get it to work please thank you very much :)

There are a number of VORs that have the SAME ICAO code HOWEVER different frequencies and completely different location.
LPPT SRA 3910N DETOX 4321N 4529N 4634N 4741N YYT REXAR LEXAK DARIM ATLAN YQY YYG YQM BAGLE HUL VLV YUL YOW YEE ECK DABJU BAE DBQ OBH GLD ADANE KCOS
This is the route I planned, for some reason FSC keeps wanting to pick SRA in Argentina!!!!! (it should be in PORTUAL!!!!!)
I'm FUMING over this silly NONSENSE and I want my money back!
If you're going to provide SUBPAR customer service I will let my bank file a chargeback on a product that was significantl DIFFERENT than as DESCRIBED!

could have made that a lot more simpler but ok... I officiallyg give up... no more new versions for me!
-
Also when GPS is connected (yes I read about changing the options to disable map moving) either way it still keeps moving to the moving airplane... of course man if I could go back to FSC v8 it was a lot easier!
-
ok guys
the only part I couldn't find and I think its fair that you help me out here :)
I found the answers to ALL my questions listed in my opening post except for ONE
and that is:
when FSC first opens after executing it asks for which airport, why not open the FSC itself to the world/map rather than having to select an airport first?

Hey guys (Sacha and all :))
Thanks, no offense to you or anything but RTFM has a whole new level of awareness :D actually the manual is very hepful although I had to figure out a couple things but not difficult at all!
Thanks for a GREAT product :)
-
I remember being able to open FSC and seeing the world instead of the stupid airport window when the app loads, I'd rather see the world FIRST then I'll look for my airports... /sigh
My other complaint is when in GPS mode, I can't stop FSC from tracking (yes I want to see my plane, but I don't want FSC to keep my plane centered on the map). Every time I try to zoom it likes to go back to FS9 even though I'm not done zooming and I need to minimize FS9 in order for it to work effectively... GRRRR
The GPS window is GREAT! only issue I have with this is similar to my above problem with zooming is that when I move it around, FSC likes to come and go as it pleases.
I don't see an options menu to control behavior of this and quite frankly I like FSNav better only because it handles zooming better and doesn't require a GPS window.

Just what the title says...
when I save flight plans, there are many checkboxes I could pick, but I cannot untick the flight commander checkbox so I have to assume it is saving in a format it can understand and I also select flightsim flight plan format so that other applications can read the flight plan.
I'm using REX and it seems to read FSC flight plans ok but I am not sure why FSC can't read its own flight plans!
cant unzip fsc97.zip (answered)

glad to see this was resolved; there's no link to this forum from the FSC site ;)
