I heard back from the viva developer. Turns out, there are two versions of the dll kicking around out there, and he had only marked one of them as compatible with the latest P3D versions. He has now added both to the list. Try clicking "Check Online" now and see if that helps.

I need to update the installation instructions for it, though - the location is going to permanently change with the release of Nantucket. I'm working on that right now.

Sorry - I still get the same message. I have 3.4.14.18870
Have you tried grabbing the latest viva.dll from http://iblueyonder.com/viva ? If not, you might do that and follow the installation instructions on that page.

Sorry to yell, but I wanted to make sure and get everyone's attention. iBlueYonder has a new website, and included in it is a new official support forum. Please direct all support requests to http://iblueyonder.com/forum from now on. I will do my best to check back here often, but for fastest service you'll want to use the new forum.
thanks,

Try again, please. The module has been updated for compatibility with 3.4.18.14974.

Good news! You should be able to click "check online" and have viva.dll validate now in P3D 3.4.14. I just heard back from the developer; tried it, and it seems to work.

I need to get the module developer to mark this version of P3D as compatible. After that, clicking "Check Online" should clear the message permanently. You know, until they release the next P3D ;-).

Thanks Bill! I reinstalled my sim. The current version of the scenery is still iBlueYonder Heron's Nest v.1.02, right?
Greetings!
That's right.

According to the module's developer, you should click "run once", and then it should work fine. If someone could confirm that to be the case, I'll let him know and he can mark it as compatible on his server.

*sigh* I'll contact my guy.

The latest version of viva.dll has been uploaded to the viva page - http://iblueyonder.com/viva/ . Please note the installation instructions on that page, but it's really simple. For FSX/FSX:SE users, there is no need to download. This is an update for P3D 3.4 only.

Viva has been updated to P3D 3.4 now. You can either wait a bit (less than a day, I hope) and click "Check online" when the prompt comes up, or shortcut the process by going to http://iblueyonder.com/viva and downloading the new module now.

zazaboeing,
The viva developer says the module should work fine in P3D 3.3.5. When you start P3D, do you get the pop-up asking you to check online for module compatibility? If you do, click the "Check online" button. It should fix itself.

Seejay, the link to download never changes. To download again, just open your previous email with the link and click it again.
thanks,

Nothing has changed with viva.dll, but P3D has once again sub-versioned up. I have 3.3.3, and it works fine. If it's crashing with 3.3.5, then you and I both are waiting for a new version of viva to roll out from the developer. As soon as it's available, I'll put up a post on the forum. I know it's a bit confounding, but we're stuck in this upgrade arms race for the time being. I'll ask the dev to check and see if an update is required.

Hi Bill. I just got a shock. I went to Herons nest and where there aught to be buildings, there are only black bldgs. and black geometric shapes. Even the pier is black only --no textures.
Cheers.
It sounds like you've got some resource starvation going on with your system. Generally, if an object's textures can't be found, the object won't show up at all. Can you reproduce this with multiple sim sessions (quitting the sim and restarting it again)?

I have a build of it that includes custom terrain mesh for the island, plus a new set of runway flattens that maintain the undulating terrain, but make it a bit easier on the undercarriage. Problem is, it looks pretty good on FSX, but shows a large area of missing water on P3D. So now I'm chasing that problem and hoping to get it all wrapped up soon. Just in case you thought I was just dragging my heels... ;-)
-
I've got the custom mesh in place, but I'm still dinking around with the actual runway flattens. The challenge is to get it a little bumpy and undulating while not making any prop-killing sharp inclines.
-
This is why I didn't get too worked up about their enhancements. ;-)
I was just there a couple of days ago, and it have to admit, it's weird walking around a real-world airport when you've spent so much time modeling it virtually. It's like having your own private VR world - with incredible graphics!

Hi guys!
When I click check online it requests me to go and download the viva_p3d.dll online, which I just did.
One quick question? Is this dll really required to run the scenery? What would happen if choosing not to run it?
Still got the mesh issues, but I love this scenery.
Thanks
Viva.dll controls the appearance of the grass, trees, and various vegetation around the airport, not only placing it, but changing its appearance seasonally. You can run without it, but all the greenery (except the autogen trees) will disappear, as will the stairs leading to the float hangar. That last bit - the stairs - may have to come out soon anyway though. I've been working on a fix for the mesh issues, and in doing so I've discovered that the high-res terrain I've downloaded makes the island considerably flatter, so stairs might not be necessary.

The viva server has been updated. If you get the incompatibility message when starting P3D, click "check online" and it should run smoothly after that.
-
Oh good grief. Note we have to do the whole notify the developer and wait for a fix shuffle all over again. *sigh*

I'm working on a permanent fix for this. Stand by...

Excellent! I'm glad it was a simple oversight that we could get fixed.
