  1. Hi Pete! Great news! The Throttle Reverse Thrust setup in your FSUIPC worked! I set it up yesterday and it works like a dream. I flew the Twin Otter and the PMDG B1900 yesterday and they both handled like the real aircraft. I was able to taxi in both AC without using the brakes at all. The throttle is now very accurate and…very sensitive! I could slow down, speed up, slow down again with gentle throttle movements and stop! with full reverse thrust. I flew both aircraft in normal flight using the full range of the throttle and it was terrific. No problems at all. I reduced the throttle during the approach process and when I touched down, I pulled the throttle back to the idle zone, the nose eased down and the front wheel touched and I eased the throttle back to ‘soft’ reverse and the aircraft quickly slowed. I eased onto the turnoff and taxied to the terminal, not once using my brakes. It will stop on a dime with full reverse! Incredible! I became quite comfortable with the throttle positions after several minutes of flying time and was able to move through the entire range from maximum throttle to idle and then to reverse with no problems in finding the ‘right’ spot. I did not set up any type of detent for the CH throttle. Instead, I painted the reverse thrust area beside the throttle slot with fluorescent red water-soluble model paint. Although I felt very comfortable with the throttle and had no problem in moving it to just the right location, the paint is very helpful to insure the throttle is set at idle during start-up. I have also set the mixture control on my CH Yoke so that full back will give me reverse thrust on my jets. I have not tried it yet but I know it will work great. Thanks for FSUIPC…a great program that allows me to conform my aircraft to fly more like the real thing! Best regards,
  2. Hi Pete! Many, many thanks for your reply to my last post. You have answered all my questions!! Hoorah!! And a special thanks for the "extra" info on how the reverse thrust works in the real world. Very informative! Also grateful for the advice on the 'detent' problem. Ray said you had mentioned maybe two erasers glued to the side of the throttle slot to indicate the idle zone. Very good idea. I especially like your idea of a hinged piece of metal that could be flipped out of the way when reverse is needed. I have done a lot of modeling in my life so I will really give this some thought. I hope to tackle this beast today and experiment to see what happens. Again, many thanks. If I come up with something that works, I'll keep you posted. Love FSUIPC! Best regards, Dave
  3. Hi Pete, Many thanks for your prompt reply and I apologize for not being more specific as to my problem. I have a pretty good understanding of the process and I think I can set it up but my question really centered on the 'idle' portion of setting up the throttle for reverse thrust. How do I determine where to set the min/max for the idle zone? I imagine this zone should be very small so I'll have room for the full throttle as well as incremental reverse thrust. If this is the case and since I don't know exactly "where" the idle zone is, then how do I avoid passing right on through the idle zone and into the reverse thrust zone? Your friend, Ray Proudfoot, is also a very good friend of mine and he said you guys had discussed this a bit and you mentioned having some sort of 'detents' or 'markers' on the CH yoke throttle to avoid this situation. Would you comment on this for me? As for me being "skittish" about losing my settings, etc., I now realize that I can back up my current FSUIPC.INI and have it in case my new settings don't work out as I had hoped, so no sweat there. Many thanks for all your support! Dave PS. You may receive two messages from me. I sent you one earlier but upon submitting it, I got a message that it was an invalid session. So I had to write again. I have no idea what happened to the first note.
  4. Hello Pete! I have just learned that it is possible to use FSUIPC to program my CH yoke throttle to have throttle, idle and reverse thrust! I have your latest FSUIPC and have printed the manual and also ventured into the Joystick section of FSUIPC. I found page 1 and 3 but really do not understand what to do now. Also, I must admit that I am really skittish about making these changes.. I have programmed my Mixture control to give me reverse thrust in my jets but haven't tried it yet. I have the CH Yoke and Pedals USB running with Windows XP. I would appreciate any help/advice you can give me on how to set my throttle to give me reverse on my props. Many thanks, Dave in Raleigh, North Carolina
  5. Hi Pete! Many thanks for your rapid response to my question! I followed your directions and you were right on target! It worked! I can now see my FSUIPC.INI. I decided to edit it while I was there and add the InitDelay=3000 line to it. I had the same results as others...it made the black screen problem worse, if possible. So I edited it back out. I can still fly both FS202 and FS2004. I just can't go from Full Screen to Windows mode, minimize and then back out to Full Screen. But that is ok. I have changed a few things and really don't need to go to minimze now so I can live with it. I hope that someone will find the solution to this problem someday. I think your creation, FSUIPC is a work of art. I have used it for several years and was more than happy to register my copy. I thank you for all the years of hard work you have put into our hobby to help make it the best ever! Again, thanks for your help! Regards,
  6. Hi Pete! I am one of those folks who have the Dreaded Black Screen problem and I have what is probably a strange question. I read your post about upgrading the video drivers...(I have the Nvidia FX 5600 and have the very latest drivers), and, if that doesn't work, going into the FSUIPC.INI and adding the InitDelay=3000 line. Then I read the post saying that this doesn't help. Well, before I read that, I tried to find the FSUIPC.INI and I can't find this file. I have checked the MODULES folder in FS 2004 as well as FS 2002 and it is not to be found. I do have a FSUIPC.CFG file in each of my FS's. ??? Is this the same file? I opened it and it had the [GENERAL] section but I wasn't sure if I should alter this. I also did a 'search' on my hard drive and it showed two FSUIPC files...both of them the cfg files I had already found. I suppose it really doesn't matter now with the information that changing that line doesn't help but I was speaking with my good friend, Ray Proudfoot, and he said the lack of the INI file was not good and that I should check with you. So...here I am. Am I missing these critical files? I can live with things the way they are. I prefer flying in Full Screen. The only problem is that I have to fly in Windows Mode if I want to use Radar Contact 3. Then I have to switch to Windows and stay there because of the black screen if I try to go back to Full Screen. Your help is much appreciated. FSUIPC is great and thanks for all your hard work to make it better and better. Best regards,
