  1. Hi Pete, I hope you can help me resolve a fsuipc/simconnect error that I'm getting. I have FSX deluxe (sp1) and the latest version (registered) of fsuipc installed on my XP (sp2) computer. I'm trying to narrow down a problem I'm having using a third party program (Its Your Plane). I've noticed that I get the following 3 errors generated in the Windows Event log as soon as FSX starts: Event Type: Error Event Source: SideBySide Event Category: None Event ID: 59 Date: 12/15/2008 Time: 11:10:58 AM User: N/A Computer: MARK-0ECD4E3EFB Description: Generate Activation Context failed for C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\Modules\FSUIPC4.dll. For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp. I've tried following your advice in this thread: viewtopic.php?f=54&t=58095 twice, but I get the same three errors generated. Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Regards, Mark
  2. >If you want me to look at it enable IPC read and write logging in >FSUIPC's options. Keep the test short (with no other FSUIPC users >please), and show me the resulting Log file. Thanks so much! I really appreciate your effort, especially with how busy (and tired) you must be with the release of FSUIPC4. >>PS: The FS9 app is FSHotSeat, if this helps. >Does that require access to FS's files as well as an interface through >FSUIPC? The program reads FS flight plans (although I don't know if it does this directly from the Hard drive or through the program) it also does generic aircraft check lists and things such as turning the plane and setting the radios. I did have things roughly working initially where FSUIPC would connect with FSHS but kept reporting an invalid flight plan. After some investigation I discovered that the program, when run, would install FSUIPC 3.4 (that came with it) into the FSX\modules folder where FSUIPC4 resides. The FSHotSeat splash screen would report FSUIPC as version 4 but the programs log file said v 3.4. I wonder if maybe MSFS was loading both FSUIPC dll's. When I renamed FSUIPC4 to FSUIPC and replaced v3.4 with it it seemed to copy over and load it ok (stated v4 in the log file) but would not connect with FS. >If so then it is likely that it needs an update. Is there a support >forum for it? You should ask there. I did inquire through their tech support. They said that they would review the situation and decide later (after Vista is released) whether they will upgrade/patch the program for FSX. I never realised how much I loved this addon until I upgraded to FSX and lost its use  Thanks again for your offer of help. Regards, Mark
  3. Hi Pete... Can you please tell me if a commercial developer obtains a FSUIPC license from you for version 3.x are they required to update their license and/or software to use FSUIPC4. The reason I ask is I'm trying to get a FS9 utility program working under FSX & FSUIPC4 but the app isn't connecting with FS (with FSUIPC4 installed). If I registered my version of FSUIPC4 would this possibly overcome the problem. Thanks for your time. Regards, Mark PS: The FS9 app is FSHotSeat, if this helps.
  4. Hi Pete... Thanks for the speedy reply. Please see my other question below. [ >That's the whole idea. There's not much point in me working like this >otherwise -- the whole point for the last seven or more years of FSUIPC >has been to provide application compatibility across FS versions. Sorry, forgive my ignorance. I'm unaware as to exactly how FSUIPC works. I thought that a different version of FS would require not only a new version of FSUIPC but a different way of accessing the variable values it supplies. >But until it is tested on it I couldn't say whether it will work 100% >without more tweaks in FSUIPC4. I will need feedback on these things >and tweak it until it is 100% compatible. There's no way that has been >possible with the couple of Beta versions of FSX we've had I'm afraid, >and, as I say, I've only had what may be the Released version of FSX >for a few days. Would it be accurate in saying that because FSHotSeat works in FS9 that if I can load it into FSX that it should work with a correctly tweeked FSUIPC? or I'm I being overly simplistic and that the program itself may need to be re-written. I have an awful feeling I know the answer to this  Thanks once again. And regardless of if I can get FSHotSeat to run under FSX I will be purchasing your latest FSUIPC for it :D Regards, Mark Regards Pete
  5. Hi Pete... I recently got my copy of FSX and I'm loving it :) In FS9 I use a wonderful utility program called FSHotSeat. This program utilizes FSUIPC in reading MSFS variables. Is there any chance that your newest version for FSX will be able to pass these variables onto a FS9 program correctly, or will the MSFS program need to be re-written to access the values of these variables? I've sent a message to the author but haven't heard word yet whether he plans to release an FSX version. I'd really hate to lose the use of this program. Thanks for your time and effort. Regards, Mark
  6. Hi Pete... Thanks for the quick reply. I will pass this info on to Craig and let you know what I find out. Regards, Mark Can you be more specific? What is he reading for this, and how? Here I can set either Cloud or Wind turbulence in FS's weather dialogues and read it out through FSUIPC's interface. I can also set these values through WeatherSet2, though the Wind ones tend to be changed (mollified) by FS quite quickly after they are set, depending on the overall weather conditions around. The cloud turbulence 'sticks' better. Regards, Pete
  7. Hi Peter... I've been speaking with Craig, The owner and product developer for ivibe.com. They make a product called a Tactile Feedback System (TFS) which can read MSFS values through FSUIPC. To this point he has been successful in doing this with the exception of retrieving a turbulence value. He's told me that the value returned is always 0. I was hoping you might be able to shed some light on why this might be happening, and the correct method for returning a valid turbulence number? Thanks for your time and assistance. Regards, Mark
  8. Hi Richard... Thanks for the great news. I'm really looking forward to puting my Project Magenta cockpit together and the thought of having to wait three more weeks wasn't sitting too well  Regards, Mark
  9. Earlier today I went to sim market and purchased widefs. Several hours later (while waiting for my key) I decided to come here to see what was new. To my horror I saw the post by Peter stating that he has gone on holidays and won't return until March 12  Does this mean that new buyers are going to have to wait 3 weeks to get their keys  Grrr I'm so frustrated. I'm just in the process of setting up my hardware for project magenta and now it looks like I'm gunna have to wait three weeks :( I'm surprised given the length of Peter's absence that someone else was given athority to hand out new keys? Regards, Mark
