  1. Another suggestion...... A new command for TRACON: (Callsign) After (nav aid/waypoint) fly heading XXX (Callsign) After (nav aid/waypoint) fly heading XXX, descend and maintain (altitude) Example: Jetblue 3 after CAMRN, fly heading 045, descend and maintain 7000 Air France 7 after JFK, fly heading 180, descend and maintain 9000 I had more... I'll post 'em when I remember...
  2. Yesterday I made a quick comparison of flights in and out of Newark (KEWR) in Tower multiplayer and Tracon with Real Traffic, at 23:00 hours, no weather, runways 4L and 4R open, with arrivals and departures set to full capacity. It seems that Tower is suppressing 2/3 of the flights available to arrive or depart for some reason, while there is no issue with Tracon. I noticed that when I ran TRACON, I automatically see departing Continental flights when I did not see them in Tower. When I peeked at the Tower game log, I noticed a bunch of errors in regards to airports. I did notice some flights in the game log, but they never ran in the simulation. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling both Tower and Tracon, and even tried swapping the Tracon databases into Tower. I got the same result, which is only getting 1/3 of the flights simulated in Tower. I have included the Tower game log in this post. Currently running Windows 7 Home Premium Service Pack 1, 64 bit on a Compaq (HP) CQ5300F, AMD Sempron LE-1300 @2.3 GHz, 2 GB Physical memory, NVidia GeForce 6150SE nForce 430 256MB. OpenAL is installed. Speech is installed and configured. game.zip
  3. Thanks Fracasado, however it's not the flight paths of the SID/STARS I am referring to. Although I have extensively tweaked the SID/STARS that TRACON included with the airspace editor, my question is how the flights are assigned their departure gates and what the role the sidstar_jfk.txt file is in the simulator. I have encountered situations where a flight will have a departure gate that seem out of the way from its destination. As an example, a flight that departs JFK with a destination of Fort Lauderdale and it has an exit gate assignment of Merit, or Parke, instead of Shipp, Dixie, or Wavey. It's no big deal since flights may alter their flight plan to go around storms and such. It only caught my eye since I witnessed flights make a complete 180º turn after I hand them off to center. Also, there have been times where a flight deviates from the published SID before they are handed off from the tower. It gets a little frustrating because it can give you an unwanted penalty in certain situations.
  4. A zip file of the planes I have edited. I would make a safety copy of the originals that are in the Feel There airplane folders and replace them with these. I have also found what looks to be a great website for info at: http://www.skybrary.aero/index.php/E190 I might re-edit what I have already edited once I have a better look at the website. E75.zip
  5. I hope it has the same runway matrix as Tracon where you have the option to assign runways for arrivals or departures or both. Like for instance, if you were to have a Tower version of Laguardia Airport, their departure and arrival runways intersect (arrivals on RWY 31, and departing runways on RWY 4) ;) My wish list/suggestions: 1. The ability to string more commands into a single transmission in Tracon. For example: "Jetblue 975, turn left heading 310, cleared ILS runway 31 left approach, contact tower on 119.1" "American 22, proceed direct Solberg, climb to 17 thousand, contact center on 125.3 2. The ability to have airport specific visual approaches in Tracon. What I mean by that is JFK and LGA visual approach procedure that are different from your normal visual approaches. JFK has 'Belmont Visual RWY 22L' and 'Parkway Visual RWY 13L/R' approach procedures, and LGA has 'River Visual RWY 13' and 'Expressway Visual RWY 31' approach procedures. KLAX a couple, as does KBOS and KEWR... this would be a great advanced feature I think. 3. Some special departure procedure options maybe. For instance, JFK has departure procedures from runways 31L and 31R: "Canarsie Climb", "Bridge Climb", "Breezy Point Climb". I realize that they are already formatted into some SIDs, but you don't know which one they are taking because they do not announce which way they are going when they are departing from runways 31L/R. Maybe this is already possible with editing the SID/STAR.txt file in addition to editing/adding a SID? I think I have asked you that question somewhere else... 4. The ability to view the available holding patterns on the RADAR in Tracon, and edit them in the airspace editor. 5. The ability to see the icons for surrounding airports on the RADAR. I think it would be great to see where they are even though you're not controlling them. 6. Having 'heavy' aircraft for some wide body flights. Like, Speedbird 117 heavy (BAW117/H), Delta 15 heavy (DAL15/H) etc... 7. Better voice recognition, but I think that is a windows issue. 8. Options for speed restrictions at certain altitudes. Some STARs list them in the procedures you find online. i.e. JFK's CAMRN 4 arrival says to expect 11000' and 250K when reaching waypoint CAMRN. I've also experienced certain planes refusing to slow below 250 knots at any altitude as well. 9. The ability to put the mile rings in Tracon around a different airport when needed. Some of these may fall under the 'beyond the scope' heading but what the heck.... :P I'm sure I have more, I'll post them when I think of them.
  6. Yet another update.... After finding and installing a little app online by PCWinTech called 'Simple Port Tester', it told me right away that it was NOT connecting to tcp or udp ports 22224. No big surprise there. Checking the router for the umpteenth time to confirm the settings to the ports, disabling and/or uninstalling the firewalls on the computer, and just about every other combination I can think of resulted in a big fat no f••king bueno. After exhausting almost everything I can think of concerning the configuration of my VerzonFios wifi router and firewalls to accept communication through ports 22224, I finally found a small blurb on another website about dealing with ports not opening on WIFI routers that Verizon Fios uses with their service. One user has a similar problem to mine where he couldn't connect to someone or connect as a host server for whatever game or sim he was using. He said he initially thought he had a bad router, so he called Verizon and got a replacement. As it turns out it did the same thing on a brand new router. So, I read the forum post further, and his end result was to put a second router (that he had lying around) after the Verizon Wifi router, and then connect it to the computer. He then initiated a Demilitarized Zone on the Verizon router for the i/p address of the second router, and in a nut shell said he finally got it to work. So I log back into my Verizon router and DMZ the computer i/p address (without a second router), and lo and behold, the Simple Port Tester says it was successful in creating a connection with tcp and udp ports 22224. Now, the caveat is that I read some IT guys are leery of apps like Simple Port Tester. So if anyone has any feedback on that please let me know. Leaving the computer in a DMZ is another concern, but there is Firewall software on the computer and I can always turn the DMZ on and off when needed. Until I have tested it further by actually connecting to Terry, which will not be until Monday, or any other player with Tracon/Tower, that is where I stand right now.
  7. Never heard of steam before today so I do not have an opinion.
  8. just an update... I have solved one issue where a "parental control" software was shutting down the connection in 15 minutes regardless of the setting. (Uninstalled it) This last time I disabled all of the firewalls and I still was unable to host on either Tracon or Tower. I can only be a client on Tower. My last game log is attached. That's where Terry tried connecting to my Tower with out success. J game.zip
  9. Tracon or Tower? If it's Tower... it should be just 'XXX contact departure". If it's Tracon, center and tower frequencies should be in the manual .pdf included with the Atlanta sector.
  10. I am 'the other player'...... .............and it's most of the same issues again. While I have been able to connect Tower to Terry, he gets an 'Connection lost with the server' when he tries to connect Tower with me. I have also asked him to connect Tower to me when I had Tracon running. No dice. I have checked the router settings (port forwarding) more times than I can remember. I have port triggering open as well to tcp/udp 22224 as of this morning. I have even completely disabled the firewall software that is installed on this computer at one point, even though I got a pop up notice from the firewall software asking to allow Tower to connect to the internet... I have Verizon Fios service to the house, and it's a rock solid connection. I have had the same issues before with Tracon and Tower with another player, with the exception that we couldn't even get to computers to connect at all. She seems to have given up since she has not gotten in touch with me for a month. I have included the latest tower and game log to this post as .zip files. Currently running Windows 7 Home Premium Service Pack 1, 64 bit on a Compaq (HP) CQ5300F, AMD Sempron LE-1300 @2.3 GHz, 2 GB Physical memory, NVidia GeForce 6150SE nForce 430 256MB. OpenAL is installed. Speech is installed and configured. game.zip tower.zip
  11. Am I correct in assuming that you can edit the SID/STAR .txt file in the databases folder by assigning airports to certain SID or STARs under the proper list? Or is there more to it that is beyond the scope/limit of what is end user editable? There has been more than one occasion where I have seen departing flights that were assigned departure gates that didn't make sense to me...... For example, departing flights from KJFK to KLAX had a departure gate that was east of JFK instead of west, flights to Canada were assigned departure gates to the south instead of north, etc... Thanks....
  12. Found that the E175's are also suspect........ found this out when I was issuing a 'reduce speed' command yesterday and promptly got a 'negative' response. On an unrelated note, is there a place to submit suggestions?
  13. No....... it was another issue which dealt with real traffic, of which I figured out. We tried again this morning with a multiplayer session with Tracon and Tower and no joy. I have triple checked everything on my end and it seems to be in order. Waiting on Dana to double check her settings on her router to try again.
  14. I previously had another question in this pane, but I erased it due to operator error. . . . . . . . . . ......and I answered my own question.
  15. Graham, No, I didn't try 22R mainly because I didn't think about it at the time. I did give the command to enter final Rwy 13R last night, which works fine in the context of the sim. However, I assume it probably wouldn't be the correct procedure in a real world scenario, especially with having 3 extremely busy airports in such close proximity (KJFK, KLGA & KEWR). I did edit the E190 and E195 last night in the airplane editor. Just had to pop in the proper speed numbers where needed. Thanks!
  16. Yesterday, I noticed a couple of things while on Tower 2011 (KJFK)... 1) The E190's seem to come in too fast. They do slow down for the final approach, but seem to kick it up to about 250 knots when actually landing. Had a near miss on the runway because of it. No big whoop, I'll look at the E190 in the aircraft editor later and change it if needed... 2) I also had an instance where I cleared a 747 to land on JFK runway 22L. 22L is 8400 feet in length, and the 747's need about 7000 feet to safely land and stop. Well, the result was that the plane could not stop in time and overshot the end of the runway, and I was penalized for the error promptly. Now, since I was set up with converging runways (I was using 13R for departures, 13L and 22L for arrivals), I couldn't change to the parallel 22R because it was closed due to the configuration. My question is, If I gave the 'go around' command and handed them off to departure, would it return to approach 22L again, or would the sim change the plane's approach to 13L (or R since Tower doesn't have the same runway matrix as Tracon), or would I have to guide the plane to enter the pattern of 13L where I was funneling most arrivals to? Thanks for any insight.
  17. Yes, I have port forwarding to the computer ..... tcp and udp ports set to 22224.
  18. Hello everyone. For the past couple of days I have been attempting to connect Tracon!2012 over the internet with another player. After quadruple checking our router settings and ip addresses, going over the manual verbatim (page 21), and swapping who the host is, we have been unsuccessful in actually securing a connection. We also made sure our runways and weather conditions matched. We still couldn't get a connection. Now, I have the JFK sector installed, and Dana (the other player) does not have the JFK sector. However, we were going to use the LAX sector for the multiplayer session. Does she need to have the JFK sector installed in order to network even though she doesn't have the JFK sector? I also assume that all players need to either have Real traffic installed, or not installed. To the best of my knowledge, we both have Real Traffic installed. I would like to try to at least make sure that everything is working on my end, so if anyone has a free moment to try, PM me to let me know. Any suggestions are welcome. 19. I have TRACON with Real Traffic and the New York Sector. I've been controlling KJFK mostly (arrivals and or departures depending on the time of day)...... Which sector or airport would you want to try multiplayer with?
  20. Hey all Anyone want to try Tracon 2012 in multiplayer mode? I am set up with the New York Sector along with the standard sectors and the real traffic add on. PM me if you're interested. John Wy
  21. Hello Just letting you know that the airspace editor crashes when you select "Outer Marker" in the elements pull down menu. I haven't encountered any other issues at the moment. Windows 7 Home Premium Service Pack 1, 64 bit on a Compaq (HP) CQ5300F, AMD Sempron LE-1300 @2.3 GHz, 2 GB Physical memory, NVidia GeForce 6150SE nForce 430 256MB. OpenAL is installed. 22. Hello all! I'm not sure if this was answered previous, but I'll put it out there any way.... I've been playing around with the JFK airspace editor, inputting a couple of ILS waypoints, and it hit me that it would be nice to have cetain visual approach procedures available, say the Belmont Visual Runway 22L procedure and the Parkway Visual Runway 13L/13R procedures for JFK, Stadium Visual Runway 29 for EWR etc. when certain parameters are met. What'dya think? Thanks John
  23. .......and I cannot upload the second half...... because it is another 15kb and I have 2.98kb left.... suggestions?
