Waiting for connection

Recommended Posts

Well Pete i went back and just changed the routor ip to default

A router? You never mentioned one of those. Sounds like it was creating a block.

im not a expert in networking

Nor am I. I only know what Windows help says, and then some of it is confusing. That's why I'm puzzled. No doubt an expert would know once you'd laid out all the facts. I don't even know what INI parameter you changed now -- all that got very confusing along the way, me advising one thing you doing something different, if you look back! ;-)

Never mind. It'll have to remain a mystery.

Regards,

Pete

I'm having the same problem as above.

I'm using the latest versions of FSUIPC and WideFS

This most certainly means that your Client PC doesn't recognise the name "FS9MOBIEL". Your client doesn't know your server. There is nothing you can do in any of my software, you need to get your Network working first.

Sorry.

the network has been working fine for 2 years, i've got 4 different pc's in an all-xp network, i've tried every possible combination, but it doesn't matter which one I take for server and which for client, the outcome stays the same. Sometimes, when i wait long enough, there is a connection, but it 's gone after a few seconds. I don't use a router, but a switch. Each pc has a dynamic ip given by the internetprovider (cable). Even when I use the " ServerIPAddr" parameter, it doesn't change anything. When i look in my network enviroment via xp I can see all pc's so normally that couldn't be the issue, or am I wrong there?

Sorry, all I know is that if Windows says it cannot translate the Server Name into an IP Address, then it cannot see that PC correctly. Maybe it is firewalled, ir is in a different workgroup or has its IP address in a different sub-net (i.e. the part of the IP address masked by the subnet mask). I really don't know enough to analyse it more.

You may want to see if you can get help from Katy Pluta over in the FS2004 forum. I have had to ask her for help with my own Network from time to time.

Regards

Pete
