Autoroute 2007 and Fsuipic / WideClient / GPSout

Hi there good people of the FS world.

A couple of years ago i got MS Autoroute 2006, FS9 working together. I could then see where I was flying in MS Autoroute. A live GPS in other words.

Now I wanna try the same with Autoroute 2007 and FSX.

Is there a way I can see what FSX is sending to my WideClient Fs (that is connected). I'v tried the Log=yes, but it dosnt seem to log what im looking for. In other words, is there a way I can see the GPS coordinates that fSX is sending to wideclient? Just to confirm that the cooridnates reaches the WideClient

A couple of years ago i got MS Autoroute 2006, FSX and gpsout running. I could then see where I was flying in MS Autoroute. A live GPS in other words.

You got FSX a couple of years ago!? ;-). I assume you mean FS9.

Now I wanna try the same with Autoroute 2007 and FSX, but i seem to have forgotten how to do it (It could just be that its not working with this new software).

Erwhich new software are you talking about? You must have changed everything? Autoroute 2007 instead of 2006 (why not try 2006 first, to be sure?), FSX not FS9, and presumably FSUIPC4 instead of FSUIPC 3 and GPSout?

I'm gonna start this of by asking; Is there a way I can see what FSX is sending to my WideClient Fs98 Eliminator (That is connected).

Eryou are using WideFS as well?

Please, I think you need to start from the beginning. What are you actually using, and where? Please include version numbers.

Iv read the doc up and down, but really cant find any info about it.

Info about what? GPSout, configured to send data via WideFS, is documented in the FSUIPC4 documentation. WideFS is documented in the WideFS documentation. MixW is documented in its own package -- it isn't mine. I assume you are using MixW to give you the two virtual COM ports on your client PC?

It is very difficult to help on the basis of almost zero information. Please expand.

Pete

I rephrased the entire post Pete. Hehe. Did'nt count on such an fast answer.

I don't have Fs9 or Autoroute 2006 installed anymore, so there is no way to check it.

What I'm trying to do is:

Run FSX on Spillpc (name of computer).

On my Laptop2 (name of laptop), im running Autoroute 2007, WideClient, MixW ComEmul (set up to use com1 and 2). I want FSX to send its GPS out to Laptop2 and then laptop2 to feed the GPS data to Autoroute 2007.

I have FSX set up to send gpsout to laptop2 via WideFS. And on Laptop2 i have WideClient running with status Connected. And MixW ComEmul altso setup. Is there a way I can confirm that the cooridnates are sent to laptop2.

See my original post again for log files.

Okay. Exactly as I do with FliteMap.

Okay, from this I gather that you think you have everything set up correctly, but it isn't actually doing anything?

The "coordinates" are in the form of NMEA sentences. Have you selected the ones needed for AutoRoute? Do you want me to check the settings in the [GPSout] section of your FSUIPC4.INI file?

You can Log the data WideClient is receiving. I think just setting Log=Yes will log the GPS data, though I'm not sure without checking the code. The question hasn't arisen before -- give it a try.

See my original post again for log files.

Duh! Sorry, I didn't even notice those before!

The WideFS logs are fine, but I don't like these in the FSUIPC4 log:

287563 **** Simconnect Data Stalled! Re-connecting now****

287563 SimConnect_Open succeeded: proceeding to initialise interface!

287563 Initialising SimConnect data requests now

287563 FSUIPC Menu entry added

287703 Running in "Microsoft Flight Simulator X", Version: 10.0.60905.0 (SimConnect: 2.0.60905.0)

288407 System time = 20:50:30, FSX time = 12:34:45 (18:34Z)

288422 Advanced Weather Interface Enabled

These are occurring every 3 seconds or so, meaning that FSUIPC4 is never actually getting any data from SimConnect. Thus GPSout will never send any data.

You unfortunately have the symptoms of one of FSX's Simconnect bugs at present. I'm surprised you even managed to get an Add-Ons menu in which to register FSUIPC4 and set these WideFs and GPSout options!

Do you have other SimConnect clients loading? Please see the FSX Help announcement at the top of the Forum and see if you can get a SimConnect LOG. Maybe that will help. If you have no other clients running, try repairing Simconnect as explained in the same announcement.

Pete

Okay, from this I gather that you think you have everything set up correctly, but it isn't actually doing anything?

Yes. I wanna be sure FSX actually sends the GPS data to laptop2's WideClient. That Wideclient recives them.

The "coordinates" are in the form of NMEA sentences. Have you selected the ones needed for AutoRoute?

Fs is set to use GPSout, send data via Widefs, interval 1000 and GGL is used for NMEA sentences.

You can Log the data WideClient is receiving. I think just setting Log=Yes will log the GPS data, though I'm not sure without checking the code. The question hasn't arisen before -- give it a try.

I set it to Yes, and it did'nt log any GPS data. And the gpsout bit of the wideclient.ini, look like this:

[GPSout]

Port=COM1

Speed=19200

; -----------------------------------------------

[user]

Log=Yes

MixW is configured like this:

Pair 1

First emulated port COM1

Secound emulated port Com2

When i open Autoroute 2007 and tries to choose available ports, Autoroute lists Com2 and Com3.

The WideFS logs are fine, but I don't like these in the FSUIPC4 log:

287563 **** Simconnect Data Stalled! Re-connecting now****

287563 SimConnect_Open succeeded: proceeding to initialise interface!

Okey. SimConnect reinstalled, logfile now looks like this:

Erdoesn't it end? That part just seems to be the first part of the last log. What happened next? Did everything hang or FSX crash or something?

Now that I examine this part alone (I didn't notice before), FSX seems to be taking an AWFULLY long time to start:

4719 SimConnect_Open succeeded: proceeding to initialise interface!

106141 Running in "Microsoft Flight Simulator X", Version: 10.0.60905.0 (SimConnect: 2.0.60905.0)

217750 SimStart Event: Initialising SimConnect data requests

That's nearly three minutes before FSX tells SimConnect to tell FSUIPC that it is starting? What is going on in that time? Then:

217750 FSUIPC Menu entry added

217922 C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\FLIGHTS\OTHER\FLTSIM.FLT

217922 C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\SimObjects\Airplanes\B737_800\Boeing737-800.AIR

218172 System time = 22:34:38, FSX time = 07:32:37 (06:32Z)

218531 Aircraft="Boeing 737-800 SAS"

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

336000 Advanced Weather Interface Enabled

A gap of another two minutes after loading the flight before it is ready to fly?

Why is FSX taking five and a half minutes to be ready to fly? What is going on then?

But, more relevant here, what happens afterwards .. the log ends here. Is FSUIPC4 continually retrying? Did FSX crash? Have you no description of what this log is supposed to represent?

Regards

Pete

Fsx runs on like it should. No problems what so ever :)

Well. It just takes time. I have no idea what its doing. Iv got 2 gb ram, a newly defragged disk that has FSX in the outer layer of the HD to load faster. But it seems its working the total oposit way.

Then:

217750 FSUIPC Menu entry added

217922 C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\FLIGHTS\OTHER\FLTSIM.FLT

217922 C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\SimObjects\Airplanes\B737_800\Boeing737-800.AIR

A gap of another two minutes after loading the flight before it is ready to fly?

Yes. Thats odd.

Why is FSX taking five and a half minutes to be ready to fly? What is going on then?

Seems to me that its loading. Dunno what.

But, more relevant here, what happens afterwards .. the log ends here. Is FSUIPC4 continually retrying? Did FSX crash? Have you no description of what this log is supposed to represent?

Fsx just run's, like nothing is wrong. It all seems to work just fine.

Here are the new logs with the PartRx logging turn on

(here i started fsx, started wideclient, started a flight, waited around 1 min on the runway then shutdown Fsx (alt f4)):

Here are the new logs with the PartRx logging turn on

...

********* WideClient Log [version 6.71] Class=FS98MAIN *********

Date (dmy): 18/12/06, Time 16:35:33.466: Client name is LAPTOP2

410 Opening GPSout port COM1, speed=19200 -- FAILED!

GPS data won't be requested by the Client if it cannot open the COM port you specified. Seems that COM1 is not actually available.

Not sure if the above is GPS data or something else being sent.

The GPS data will be obvious when you see it. But Wideclient will not ask for it if it has no place to send it.

Regards

Pete

First of all Pete, Thank you, and then Thank you again. You answer faster than lightning. Just amazing support.

I moved the port to com10, and set Autoroute to use com11.

Voila... It works. Like a charm.

Lovly !

Again, thank you for amazing support.
