Boeing 747-400 for FSX

On the dds, no, not yet. The models search for the .dds texture, and if they do not find them, for the .bmp. The advantage of .dds is that it is faster to load, but I have a little batch job that can convert all a model at once once it is finished.

Hello Burkhard. Thank you for the files - they are DXT1 mipmaps. Should I really use an uncompressed bmp for editing the night texture?

They are 24 bit 1024x1024, aren't they? These get edited or processed 8) and tahn converted to DXT1 512x512 - or do I miss something?

A couple of strange patterns across the top -400F and where the rear fuselage joins the front, more noticeable with the lights switched on

The ones I have downloaded are 512x512 DXT1. I'd like the 1024x1024 24bit, just like the B744-l version. I want to black out some of the windows just like the day textures, and then compress and create the mipmaps. Unless I convert it in imagetool first, I can't edit the DXT1. Even if I did convert, the starting point would be of less quality (than the 744)

A new set of My744.zip got uploaded. Some changes again to the pax model, improvement of the texture fitting, new winglets, beacons when engines move.

Most important change: The 744F-model will move to an own folder. It requires a change in aircraft.cfg that prohibits usage of the same folder. But a new Cargo model, the 744C, is added in here. This represents the growing number of converted 744, without node opening, and since intended to operate from cargo ramp, without any door animation. These models have the long upper deck, and the windows are replaced by metal, but the frames still are visible.

Just to add the newly uploaded My743.zip is at the same state as the 744, all models corrected, C models added...

I think we need a list of which carrier operates what aircraft, like the one you did for the 744pax. I don't really know, 747s don't operate from my local airports :cry:

So while we can just work to the existing aircraft.cfg files, seems like we need to paint the correct models now and pick up new operators. Perhaps not a trivial piece of work, but best to avoid painting combinations that don't exist.

Perhaps I've missed it - is there a 744-F zip package or similar available for download now it is moving to its own folder? I had a little trouble making the Air China Cargo texture work last night, and ended up deleting the F model where it used to be (in 744MX). The texture works on the pax model, so there's hope :D

B747SP, B742-t,B742C-t,B744-t,B744C-t,B74F-t .

Also, the artwork on the freighters got improved a bit. All models support the -l night map on the quality models and the -l_1 on the performance model. Could also say I'm done with them. :D
