Please help with black panels with IFLY 747 FSX problem

Recommended Posts

Hey,

I'm new to these fourms so please bare with me if this question has already been brought up.

I just downloaded and installed the IFLY 747 for FSX and i can never get the side view panels in 2-d and everything but the MFD in VC to show up normal, they are always black. I read from the site i downloaded it from and it said if this issue came up, to delete and reinstall FSUIPC, well i've done that about 5 times now. I went to Mr Dowson's page and download the latest FSUIPC 4.20 and delete the old one and installed the new one and the same thing happens. What can i do to fix this issue?

Thank you for the time.

Really? How odd. I don't see what that could possibly accomplish. Replacing one file with one which is identical changes nothing.

I'm not really aware that IFLY 747 uses FSUIPC for anything, so it is difficult to help, but assuming it does, you need to see if FSUIPC is actually running correctly. Maybe it's a SimConnect installation problem, which does seem to affect an inordinate number of people.

So, please look in the FSX Modules folder and find two files, an Install log and the FSUIPC log. both are ordinary text files and you can paste their contents in a message here.

Regards

Pete

You omitted the final line or two in the FSUIPC4.LOG. I really always need to see the whole log. However, I have a couple of observations:

First you are still using the original rather buggy version of FSX. So many bugs were fixed by the free SP1 update that I really advise you to install that. It may well be that the IFLY aircraft depends on it in any case.

Second, your SimConnect is not working well. Here are the symptoms:

679609 **** Simconnect Data Stalled! Re-connecting now****

679609 SimConnect_Open succeeded: waiting to check version okay

Evidently no data is actually arriving from FSX via SimConnect and FSUIPC is retrying every three seconds. I'm not sure what is causing this, but the most likely culprit is an incompatible security program -- either your anti-virus or firewall program or their settings.

If you update to FSX SP2 level then these programs will no longer present any problems for local use of Simconnect. You'd need to install SP1 first, then SP2. Both are free. altrernatively you could purchase the FSX Acceleration Pack which will get you to SP2 level in one go.

To delve into the technicalities of the problems more please see the FSX Help announcement above. You would need to obtain a SimConnect log file, in the way it describes there.

I did send you the whole FSUIPC4.LOG, i don't know what it is missing.

The last line at least, maybe more. The last line reads something like

***** FSUIPC Log file closed ***** and is a useful indication that all the assorted threads terminated okay and the memory allocations properly freed. If that indeed was the complete log, then it looks as if FSX is not terminating correctly but hanging at the end.

Mr. Dowson

how are you? i did what you said and loaded but sp1 and sp2 and iFLY. when i loaded FSUIPC4.20 i recived an error message. i didn't write the whole message down but it said "cannot edit the DLL.xml file to activate it, please read the documents and manually activated"

I looked and couldn't find anything about it but here is the log

Installer for FSUIPC4.DLL version 4.20

Looking in registry for FSX install path:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator\10.0

Parameter"SetupPath"

SetupPath="E:\FSX\"

Checking version of FSX.EXE:

... Version 10.0.61472.0 (Need at least 10.0.60905.0)

Checking compatibility with installed SimConnect:

... Okay, Probe Manifest matches installed SimConnect 60905 (Original)

Found later build SimConnect 61242 (SP1 May07)

Found later build SimConnect 61259 (Acc/SP2 Oct07)

Checking if there's already a version of FSUIPC4 installed in:

E:\FSX\Modules\FSUIPC4.DLL

... No previous valid version found.

FSX Modules folder already exists.

Okay -- installed FSUIPC4 into "E:\FSX\Modules\FSUIPC4.DLL"

Looking for the current user's Application Data path:

... found as "C:\Documents and Settings\Joe\Application Data"

Now finding \Microsoft\FSX\FSX.CFG for all users, including this one

Looking in "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data"

No FSX.CFG there

Looking in "C:\Documents and Settings\Application Data\Application Data"

No FSX.CFG there

Looking in "C:\Documents and Settings\Default User\Application Data"

Looking in "C:\Documents and Settings\LocalService\Application Data"

No FSX.CFG there

Looking in "C:\Documents and Settings\NetworkService\Application Data"

i will look again though the documents and try to find it. thanks

I don't think it could have said quite that, but I know what you mean.

The installer cannot find the FSX.CFG file, which it needs to find so that it knows where to place the DLL.XML file. It looks like you've not run FSX yet, as that creates the folders and files needed. Try running FSX first, then exit and re-run the FSUIPC4 installer.
