djgodden
I know I can configure engines 1 and 4 on one throttle and engines 2 and 3 on the other in FSUIPC. The instructions left me a little confused on how to configure multiple engines on one throttle. Could someone give me the "for dummies" expanation? Thanks, Joel EDIT - SUCCESS! Got it figured out... with a little help from Capt Morgan.
Pete Dowson
I know I can configure engines 1 and 4 on one throttle and engines 2 and 3 on the other in FSUIPC. Well, that can be done but not easily. The facility to map 2 throttles to 4 engines assumes you may want asymmetric thrust at times (e.g. to assist in ground turns, or cope with an engine out or rudder failure), so the mapping goes 1->1+2, 2->3+4. A mapping as you suggest has got little practical value. The instructions left me a little confused on how to configure multiple engines on one throttle. Could someone give me the "for dummies" expanation? How much more can it be "dumbed down" than the one little check box on the single Throttle calibration section saying "map to 4 throttles"? Doesn't that say it all? How many other words do you need? Regards Pete
djgodden
Pete your product is excellent... but your people skills need work. If you noticed my edit of my original post you'd see I figured it out. BTW, why did you bother to reply if you had no intention of actually pointing me in the right direction? What I probably didn't express in my question is that I've never used FSUIPC since registering it and letting it do what ever it does as an addon. However, I had absolutely no idea where to do what I wanted to do. I only discovered that FSUIPC would do it on another forum. What I have discovered in this little exercise is that FSUIPC does a whole hell of alot more than I ever thought. Thanks for a great product. Pete Dowson
Pete your product is excellent... but your people skills need work. Hmm. Thank you for the compliment. Have a nice day yourself. If you noticed my edit of my original post you'd see I figured it out. I reply for the benefit of other readers. That's why I operate a Forum and not, as I used to, support by private email. BTW, why did you bother to reply if you had no intention of actually pointing me in the right direction? The right direction to do what? I corrected the mistake you made in stating the mappings in case it confused other readers, and I pointed to the correct checkbox for mapping one to 4 throttles which is what you appeared to ask for ("multiple engines on one throttle", remember?). I said it a way that showed I couldn't see a way to make it easier for dummies, which is what you asked for, right? Regards Pete
djgodden
Touche... I wasn't clear in my original question. Thanks again, Joel
djgodden
I've decided to tell you why I asked to set up my throttles that way you couldn't understand. When I configure the throttle axis in FSUIPC I can get engines 1 and 4 to work on throttle 1; and 2 and 3 to work on throttle 2. However, when I configure the "way most people do" with 1 and 2 on throttle 1; and 3 and 4 on throttle 2 I actually get engines 1 and 2 working fine on 1... but engines 2,3 and 4 all working on throttle 2 (even though engine 2 isn't even assigned to throttle 2). Pete Dowson
I've decided to tell you why I asked to set up my throttles that way you couldn't understand. When I configure the throttle axis in FSUIPC I can get engines 1 and 4 to work on throttle 1; and 2 and 3 to work on throttle 2. How are you doing that, please? However, when I configure the "way most people do" with 1 and 2 on throttle 1; and 3 and 4 on throttle 2 I actually get engines 1 and 2 working fine on 1... but engines 2,3 and 4 all working on throttle 2 (even though engine 2 isn't even assigned to throttle 2). Which version of FSUIPC is that with, please? It is either an old one which had such a bug, or, possibly, you have the throttles assigned in more than one place? First please make sure you are using the latest FSUIPC release -- 3.82 or 4.30, or the interim update availalbe in the Downloads announcement here. It's 2 am here now. I just saw this befor switching off, so sorry for any delay whilst I sleep. Regards Pete
