I have entered my call sign I fly under in the optios window/ flight tab... but to no avail. right now I am running FSC version 8.2.

I am relatively certain I NOT doing something correctly as I just got this program a couple od days ago. But I have scourering to find an answer to this

to no avail.

Thanks..

Hi,

sorry, but I can't verify your problem.

btw do you see your own aircraft if you are connected to the FlightSimulator whithout ti be online?

Maybe some settings are wrong in the VatSim client.

Volker

No... I don't. Online I see everybody else... off line I see the AI A/C.... but not my own.

hi

you say you are new to FSC, so just in case you are not aware

have you read page 48 of the manual?

for your aircraft to appear, you need to have your flightsim running.

then, in FSC select GPS from the drop down menu ,then select connect to FS

your aircraft will then appear in the centre of the screen.

you also get a little GPS screen

this can be turned off by selecting GPS, then GPS window.

Yes sir I DID read the manual... in fact I printed it out and read it at work!! Somehow that part didn't stick in the brain!!

BUT... that would make a LOT of sense!!! I will give it a try on Saturday!!! :D

FSC is great program, but it does involve a learning curve

to understand all its functions.

(im still learning myself.)

having a printed manual is a great help.

good luck for saturday.

Thanks!! I'll let ya know how it goes!! :D

Update: That wasthe trick!!!! Thanks!!!!

glad you got it working, and welcome to the world of FSC

you mentioned that you also run 64bit vista.

i run 64bit vista with fsx, FSC, goflight controls, and trackIR4

to save you some possible problems with other programmes, here are

some vista tips that might help if you find addons to fsx etc dont work correctly.

1. before you install any programs,

right click the setup file and select properties. then compatability tab.

'select run as administrator '

once installed right click the desktop icon and do the same.

(vista can restrict file access even when you are an administrator ,so i always do the above for any programme i install)

2.if still problems then you need to check your DEP settings

click start, help and support ,and type DEP into search box.

go to the DEP page and make sure DEP is turned OFF for any programme you have trouble with.

DEP(data execution prevention) is vistas way of preventing programmes accessing vista kernal.

you can turn it off for everything except windows (not reccomended) but i dont.

just click 'add', and browse to the 'exe' file and add it to the exception list.

3 vista uses UAC(user account control) and this sometimes causes a problem. i do not reccomend turning it off permantly because UAC prevents progs starting without your knowledge.

however you could turn it off temporarily to see if it helps.

UAC can be found in control panel.

using the above actions i have not yet had a programme or fsx addon that i could not get working with my 64 bit vista.

Thanks a bunch G-bobb!!! Yeah Vista has given me more headaches than the program is worth!!! The ONLY reason I "upgraded" to Vista was because I have a Thrustmaster Cougar HOTAS,,, and unfortunately no drivers were available for a 64-bit XP system.... JUST 64-bit Vista. Or I would not have gotten Vista at all!!!!

although many wont agree, XP is a dying product that microsoft dont want to support anymore.

SP3 will be the last XP update. 64bit XP is dead in the water.hence no drivers.

vista was rubbish at launch but has now matured.

it has plenty of driver support including 64bit.

its again a learning curve ,but well worth it for the benefits.

eg no 4gig ram limit, better multiproccssor support, 64bit speed.

once newer true 64bit applications come along it will get even faster

i reckon the next flightsim version will be 64bit

yes its akward to use untill you get used to its way of doing things, and its lock down security can be a pain.

but as ive mentioned previously,if you follow the tips you should get most things working fine.
