Mouse macros for a self centering switch

Recommended Posts

Pete: Here is the log. I first entered the 3 items that you requested in the General section of the ini file. I then opened FSX and loaded the Citation. I first opened the APU subpanel and then did 2 things.

I first mouse clicked the APU start switch followed by mouse clicking the APU Off switch. That is all.

(BTW, I did do a little experimenting with additional numbers before doing the above but still no luck with self centering the switch)

Okay. But there appears to be more going on that that, from the log:

First there are these apparently different mouse clicks in different places. Would that be some sort of preparation, like getting the overhead up etc? Do you recognise the Xxxxxx numbers at all. (It might help if you showed the macros you have for this aircraft, especially the one for the APU, so i know which one is relevant).

Then we have these three different mouse actions on one mouse rectangle, presumably the 'start'?

followed a good 11 seconds later by a similar sequence on a separate mouse rectangle:

I assume the first 3-action sequence is for "Start", and the second for "Off". In each case the first is "mouse left button single click", the second (11) is "mouse leave", and the third (17) is "mouse button release".

So, try constructing three-line macros for each, using the values shown. Let me know how you get on please.

Pete

[/b]

Then we have these three different mouse actions on one mouse rectangle, presumably the 'start'?

91823 Mouse by function: RXadf90*X55cc (flags=20000000), Module="ESDG_CitationX.GAU"

92088 Mouse by function: RXadf90*X55cc,11 (flags=00000800), Module="ESDG_CitationX.GAU"

92088 Mouse by function: RXadf90*X55cc,17 (flags=00020000), Module="ESDG_CitationX.GAU"

followed a good 11 seconds later by a similar sequence on a separate mouse rectangle:

103413 Mouse by function: RXae000*X55cc (flags=20000000), Module="ESDG_CitationX.GAU"

103694 Mouse by function: RXae000*X55cc,11 (flags=00000800), Module="ESDG_CitationX.GAU"

103710 Mouse by function: RXae000*X55cc,17 (flags=00020000), Module="ESDG_CitationX.GAU"

I assume the first 3-action sequence is for "Start", and the second for "Off". In each case the first is "mouse left button single click", the second (11) is "mouse leave", and the third (17) is "mouse button release".

So, try constructing three-line macros for each, using the values shown. Let me know how you get on please.

Hi Pete: Was out of town for the weekend, visiting my son. As you suggested above, the initial macros were for preparation work to get to the APU panel.

The 2 macros for the APU are one for the Start: RXadf90*X55cc

and the second for the Off: RXae000*X55cc

I do NOT know why there is one with the 17 modifier added to it. That is NOT in my MCRO file at all. I only have the 11 modifier in there because that is what was successful before in the FS9 version.

Here is what I have in my MCRO file for the APU:

21=APU Start=RXadf90*X55cc

22=APU Normal

22.1=RXadf90*X55cc,11

22.2=RXae000*X55cc,11

23=APU Off=RXae000*X55cc

Thanks, Al

You seem to have completely misunderstood the purpose of the exercise. That log is NOT showing what your macro does, but what using the mouse does! Remember? We are trying to find out what the mouse does, which works, so we can do the same by macro! I asked you to add some logging and operate the APU switch by mouse so we could see what was happening when it works!

Maybe you forgot all this in the days in-between?

Here is what I have in my MCRO file for the APU:

21=APU Start=RXadf90*X55cc

22=APU Normal

22.1=RXadf90*X55cc,11

22.2=RXae000*X55cc,11

23=APU Off=RXae000*X55cc

I know! But that isn't what the mouse actually does, as you can see. This is exactly why I suggested that you replaced what you had for the macros with three line ones using the same sequence as the mouse. This is why i said

So, try constructing three-line macros for each, using the values shown. Let me know how you get on please.

which you apparently ignored. :-(

Very sorry Pete but I guess I misunderstood and add in a little confusion as well. I do not do this every day of the week.

I changed my MCRO file to the following:

21=APU Start

21.1=RXadf90*X55cc

21.2=RXadf90*X55cc,11

21.3=RXadf90*X55cc,17

23=APU Off

23.1=RXae000*X55cc

23.2==RXae000*X55cc,11

23.3=RXae000*X55cc,17

Are these correct and what you referred to by a "three-line macro"?

Left out the APU norm for now.

When I open FS, I can hear a click with APU START and OFF but no there is movement of the APU switch.

Well they are the same as what the real mouse action seems to do, so that's whjat I would have thought would have worked.

When I open FS, I can hear a click with APU START and OFF but no there is movement of the APU switch.

Strange. Maybe there's no way to do it then.

Pete: Then please explain, if possible, why is it that if I ONLY use these 2 macro entries,

21=APU Start=RXadf90*X55cc

23=APU Off=RXae000*X55cc

the APU switch "works" in that it will move up when I click my CH switch to Start and it moves down if I click my CH switch to turn Off.

Of course it does not self center but if the log says I need a 3 line macro then using a 3 line macro does not even move the switch, other than the switch sound.

Thanks, Al

I have no idea and I don't know how you expect me to have one.

The aircraft is not mine, I do not know its innards. I don't know how they've written it so that these things happen. I don't even have it here to muck about with. I was only trying to help you experiment to find a solution. The only other way would be for you to hack into the code and work it out yourself. it might not be possible in any case.

Logging the real mouse operations and emulating them seemed to be a good idea. I don't know why it doesn't work - maybe it needs the screen coordinates on one of those lines (which of course we cannot supply with mouse macros. You might be able to find a solution by experimenting with other combinations. You've only tried two or three so far. I've tried to suggest ways, but I cannot solve it for you. You have to do that yourself.

I've no other ideas for you.

Thanks Pete. Please let me say again that I appreciate all your efforts and help as always.

I will try a few more experiments.

I also plan to talk to the developers and ask them what was done differently with this APU switch compared to the FS9 version.

I will let you know if I get any additional information that could help in solving this problem.

I have one other question. I noticed something that popped up in my log and would appreciate any comments about what it means.

I see the following line repeated many times in my log that I sent you.

Do you know what it means?

"Exception 15 "WEATHER_UNABLE_TO_GET_OBSERVATION", Ref 3887, Index param -1 on Weather request type 5"

Thanks, Al

I see the following line repeated many times in my log that I sent you.

Do you know what it means?

It is only logged because we have "extras" logging enabled to get more information about the mouse actions.

"Exception 15 "WEATHER_UNABLE_TO_GET_OBSERVATION", Ref 3887, Index param -1 on Weather request type 5"

It means that, at the time it was requested, SimConnect could not supply weather information for a specific location. It may be able to a bit later, or it may simply be a weather station which hasn't been populated specifically. With Extras logging I log all Exceptions returned from SimConnect. (There are other logging options which log everything sent to and returned from SimConnect!).

Nothing to worry about.

Pete
