Continuing Weather Problem

Recommended Posts

Volker:

I have installed version 8.4.2,

I have changed my time format to HH:mm:ss, and

I have copied the new URL into the options page.

When attempting to download weather I get an error downloading file message. The readme for the patch indicates that I should be able to download the file manually. I see no option for a manual download. How would I download manually??

Hi Tom,

The readme for the patch indicates that I should be able to download the file manually. I see no option for a manual download. How would I download manually??

as we have written in the Fsc842PatchEng.txt :

This patch allows you to manually access the ftp server at ftp://tgftp.nws.noaa.gov/data/observatiar/cycles/

and again manually copy the weather file onto your hard disk.

IMPORTANT:

Note furthermore that you download only ONE file which corresponds to the current Zulu time.

IMPORTANT:

a. the file must be copied into the /database subdirectory.

b. the name of the file must not be changed.

Choose subsequently Weather --> Show weather

Regards,

Volker

Gents,

I have the same problem.

I copied the url and emtied the filename field (fsc_metar)

I get also the error 'downloading the file.

What I want to know is why this download feature doesn't work.

Do I something wrong?

I installed a patch that doesn't completely works?

Greetings,

Paul

Paul:

Do not use FSC to get the file. Copy the URL into your browser and it will take you to a page with a bunch of files named 01Z.txt 02.txt and so on. I usually find the one that was most recently updated. Right click on the file you select and choose the option "Save target as" or "save link as" . Save the file to your FSC\database directory. Do not change the name. Now load FSC and "Show weather." Do not download the weather. Just show it.

Hello Tom,

Thanks for your support.

I found out the trick, but do you have any idea why the download procedure doesn't work?

Just curious. It doesn't look like rocketscience to me.

No offence to the developers... :)

Grz.

I can't find how to adjust my time setting in windows, and also have a problem downloading the fill via the program.

I did try the manual way and that does work, but I do not intend to keep on using it like that.

Hopefully there well be looked at this soms more?
