Simple (hopefully) question about FS2Crew and FSUIPC

Recommended Posts

Maybe someone in here can help me out. I'm running FS2Crew, but I'm using FSUIPC to control all my yoke/throttle/pedal functions. it's disabled in FS. The newer version of FS2Crew is looking to capture the button press of my yoke to trigger certain things to happen (Red and Green button). Now, since I don't define these 2 button presses in FSUIPC as actually DOING anything, FS2Crew is not capturing anything. As for as it is concerned, the buttons I have picked don't exist since it's not defined in FSUIPC. I don't want FSUIPC to pass anything (command or what have you), I just want it to pass the hex code that's specified for that particular button so FS2Crew can catch it. Is there a way to accomplish this? Thanx in advance!

Buttons are only "captured" in FSUIPC in any case, the same, presumably, as FS2Crew would be doing. Why would it think they don't exist?

Sorry, that doesn't make any sense. There's no "hex code" passed, and where would it come from and go to? There are two ways of getting button presses in Windows -- direct using the Windows "joy" API, which is what FSUIPC uses, and DirectInput (part of DX) which FS and most newer programs use.

There are no facilities in FSUIPC for it to emulate real joystick buttons through Windows I'm afraid -- you need a real USB or GamePOrt device for that.

If your buttons are on a standard joystick recognised by FS and Windows, then the question you need to ask (of FS2Crew) is why their program can't see them. How is it looking for them?

Regards

Pete
