FSC Fails

I'm trying out version 8.5 but it is not working properly. I just installed it and there were no warnings at all of any install problem. I then ran the database manager and it went through a lot of files. It also ran with no errors noted until I clicked the exit button after it was done. I was then presented with a runtime error 75 Path/File Access Error message. Not knowing what this was about since it said it found the FSX folders OK I went and started FSC. I then got two error messages on the start up splash screen. One about no SID or STARs files missing and the other about weather station file corrupt or missing. Then after clicking the OK buttons on the error messages the program opens after I select an airport. The map shown had airports drawn but nothing else even though all the navaids were selected to be shown.

I believe I got a good download as I tested the file from the unarc program and it showed no errors. So, what's up? What Path/File Access could it be looking for? How is this connected with no navaids showing up on the map? How do I fix this?

Thanks for the help.

Terry

hello Terry,

all the files ceated by the FSC Database Manager will be writed in the folder FSC\database\FS9\ or ...FS10\. Please make sure you can create file in this diectory (such as test.txt). I think you have read only rights, so that the Manager can´t write done the files. You don´t need to repare the files, the Manager will recreate all this, if it can write.

Best regards Eric

are you running XP ,vista, or vista 64bit?

whatever OS you have, you must be logged in as administrator when installing,

or your files may be denied access to the folders its creating.

please advise which OS your on for further help.

FSC ran fine on my XP machine,

and now it runs fine on my 64bit vista machine

so, you will get it working eventually.
