Will FS Commander calculate step climb

Hi Anonymous,

The answer to both questions is a straightforward no. FS Commander is NOT an FMC and cannot be an FMC for reasons I have explained various times before. Therefore the altitude chosen is the trip altitude for the entire flight, the only value known at the time of planning the flight. Actual altitudes during the flight may, of course, differ due to a variety of factors, ATC instruction, weather, traffic, etc.

The fact that altitude is mentioned in the flight plan at all is largely in consideration of flightsimming habits only. Personally I feel that altitude could easily be dispensed with altogether, since whatever value is chosen has no effect on anything else in the program.

Regards

Sascha
