shortcut error or STB fault?

Recommended Posts

I've just purchased and flawlessly installed Simmarket STB 2 (and patched to 2.2 as well)

when I launch STB from the shortcut, I get the error ("an error occurred.........."), as reported at viewtopic.php?f=268&t=71934 (Simconnect is installed, the dialog error message shows STB pointing to <\Documents and Settings\Administrator\FSX traffic> folder that doesn't exist in my vista64: there I have \users\username\appdata\roaming\flyingWsimulations\Supertrafficboard...)

when I launch TrafficBoardFrontEnd.exe from own folder, STB seems to load correctly (yet I did not make any change so far, waiting for your assistance)

do I have a working program or not?

PS according to viewtopic.php?f=268&t=71934 "extreme solution" suggestions, I prefer to be a disappointed buyer than to reinstall a perfectly running FSX, not to say a perfectly running OS :)

The FAQs cover several problems, and the cause of action is unique to each. So far, I don't remember anyone having to go as far as reinstalling FSX to resolve an STB problem. Instead I've worked with the individuals concerned directly to fix any missing files. The area of FSX we talk about is Simconnect and for 1% or so that does not get installed properly by FSX. The problem with the shortcut is annoying but can be worked around, and we'll fix it properly in STB V3.1.

The references to the folder are nothing to do with how things are on your PC, but actually refer to the compiler on mine so I can locate the source code where the problem occurred. I cannot being to tell you how invaluable that information is in resolving problems.
