Windows 7 ( 64 bit) and FSUIPC

Recommended Posts

Hi Pete; A quick question/comment from someone whose been sucsessfully using FSUIPC for a while

I've just moved across to a new machine as below

WIn 7 Pro 64 bit ,

FS2004

FSUIPC 3.93

All works fine if I run in XP compatibility mode - FSUIPC finds my registration key and I can set up everything to suit. However if I run as a native Win7 application FSUIPC is there but fails to find the registration. Is this a known issue?

I haven't yet checked to see if the keys for other apps (eg Squawkbox) are being read correctly - once I've had a bit more experiment I'll report back

Thanks

David

ps

For info I've seen the other comments about the interface sometimes showing problems with - That's being fine here

No. What is the exact symptom of it "not finding the registration"? The key file is in the FS9 modules folder, next to FSUIPC.DLL, same as the INI file and the LOG FSUIPC produces.

Did you register it when running the installer as a normal native Win7 program? Is FS9 installed under the same user as a native Win7 program? I really have no idea what fiddles Windows gets up to in the compatibility modes, but if you installed FS for one specific user you have to register FSUIPC whilst logged in as that user.

There's no difference for FSUIPC under Win7, 32 or 64 bit. I'm not sure why you are considering using any "compatibility modes" for FS9. I don't think it needs them.

Does Squawkbox use a key? I thought it was freeware?

Regards

Pete

Sorry Its taken a few days to get back to you

Even with my key file and old ini file in hte correct directory FSUIPC was showing the Unregistered user form

Yes I tried the installer and I think that they are installed as the same user. I think this is where the problems may come from I don't use an admin account by default and the installers ask for admin privelages prior to running. I think it is my misunderstanding of all all the security policies and rights in win7 that has been causing problems. What appears to have cleared up things a lot is to increase my normal user rights in the FS9 directory to read/write/view rather than the default read/view combination.

The upshot is FSUIPC FS9 and all are working quite now happily in a native win7 mode

thanks for your help
