FSUIPC 3.96 / WideFS 6.78 problem

Recommended Posts

Hi Pete,

I use FSUIPC already 2 years and so far I had no problems.

When I instaled 3.96, WideFS works okay for a minute and then freezes. I wanted to look fsuipc.log and there was information of old version. I deleted everything by module and new instaled FSUIPC and registered. I have the same problem and I have no fsuipc.log.

My setup:

PC1 - Win7 64bit , FS9.1 , FSUIPC 3.96 , WideFS Server

PC2 - Win7 64bit , WideFS Client

I have FS9.1 but "FSUIPC install" says:

If there is no FSUIPC log file then FSUIPC is not running. It is that simple. It always produces a log, every time. So does WideServer. It sounds like you've not get FSUIPC installed into the correct place if FSUIPC is not running.

I have FS9.1 but "FSUIPC install" says:

It appears your Registry isn't updated to show where your FS9.1 is located. Check the Announcement "Fix for FS installation registry problems" above for a way to fix that.

Unfortunately you deleted the important part of the Install log, showing us where it installed FSUIPC.DLL

Looking in registry for FS9 install path:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator\9.0

Parameter"EXE Path"

... >>> OK! FOUND FS9! <<< ...

..................

So i cannot help. You'll need to check that it is the correct copy of FS9 -- maybe you still have an FS9 installation separate to your FS9.1?

Certainly if FSUIPC.DLL is in the correct place, the Modules folder of the copy of FS9 you are actually running, then there would be a Log file there. There will also be a WideServer.Log file, and that might show why your WideFS link is "freezing". Half of the picture really isn't sufficient.

Pete

Okay, and that's where FSUIPC was and still is! Therefore that is where the Log file will be.

P.S. It occurs to me that you may need to run Explorer "As Administrator" to see the real FS9 folders -- Vista and Win 7 provide aliassed folders for Program Files, for non-Vista aware programs like FS9.

I've found log file in C \ user \ username \ my documents \ Flight Simulator files. I have FS9 new instaled the same problem. Fix for FS installation registry does not help too. I have instaled new windows and FS9, and now. "Log" file is in the right place in module. Unfortunately, my client works exactly like earlier times only a minute and then freezes.

"Log" file is in the right place in module. Unfortunately, my client works exactly like earlier times only a minute and then freezes.

Okay. Your FSUIPC log file shows that it is working well, and your WideClient log shows it is okay. That's one half of the story. You don't show me the WideServer log file, which will also be in the Modules folder. That is the Server half of the story. Why don't you check that too if you think you have a WideFS problem (which doesn't look to be so).

Also, you say your client only lasts one minute then "freezes", but this is not borne out by the client logging:

The client application starts here:

9375 New Client Application: "GAPanel" (Id=608)

WideClient was still connected okay when you closed FS three and a half minutes later:

215406 FS closing down (param=ADBC), disconnecting

215406 ********* Interim performance summary *********

215406 Total time connected so far = 212 seconds

215406 Reception maximum so far: 28 frames/sec, 14380 bytes/sec

215406 Reception average whilst connected so far: 22 frames/sec, 8296 bytes/sec

And it maintained a good average frame rate all that time!

Furthermore your application was running and exchanging data with FS all that time, too:

215406 **************** Individual client application activity ****************

215406 Client 608 requests: 898 (Ave 4/sec), Data: 1703213 bytes (8034/sec), Average 1896 bytes/Process

So, the next question is: what is really "freezing"? It certainly isn't WideFS or FS. It looks like that application of yours, GAPanel, is your problem? Is that freezing? Maybe it has a video problem local to the Client PC? Why are you thinking it must be WideFS at all?

Certainly, let us check the WideServer log file, at last, but I am now thinking you are looking in the wrong place, that you have a problem with the application itself.

BTW there is a much later version of FSUIPC, 3.976, available in the Updates announcement in this forum. I suggest you update to that version, then you are using the same one as me.

Regards

Pete

GAPanel and WideFS.

And then GAPanel I can close normal but WideFS need the help of Task Manager.

So, the next question is: what is really "freezing"?

GAPanel and WideFS.

And then GAPanel I can close normal but WideFS need the help of Task Manager.

By "wideFS" I assume you mean WideClient? If WideServer freezes then FS freezes also!

And you've shown no logs from Wideclient which show anything wrong at all, they all terminate normally after a message trelling them to do so from WideServer, a result of you closing FS and the parameters you've set to allow the close in WideClient.INI.

If your application freezes then it can easily cause WideClient to freeze, but you've shown no evidence of either. Quite the contrary. If it is merely that you've never shown me the correct file, then it is sounding as if the application is buggy. If it is a graphics program, maybe it has a problem with the graphics driver. I suggest you contact the author to see if it is properly compatible with your PC.

Your WideServer log shows everything is working properly as well. It perfectly matches what is happening at the Client end of the link:

294563 Incoming connection Accepted ok (skt=3360) TCP

294766 Connected to computer "FRIDOLIN" running WideClient version 6.780 (skt=3360) TCP

513610 Close signalled to clients

514719 Closing down now ...

...

Throughput maximum achieved: 28 frames/sec, 14580 bytes/sec

Throughput average achieved for complete session: 4 frames/sec, 1711 bytes/sec

Average receive rate from "FRIDOLIN": 2 frames/sec, 62 bytes/sec

So, WideFS is working correctly both ends, as is FSUIPC. You have an application problem. Sorry, I cannot help with that. You'll need to check with their support.

Pete
