FS Commander and loading flight plans into PMDG products

Recommended Posts

I have saved flight plans in FS Commander and have saved them in Flight Simulator X Files successfully. Is it correct that these plans cannot be automatically loaded into the FMC and will always have to be loaded manually? If not, how can this be done?

Many thanks for any advice or help.

Shaun

Not sure I understand your question, are you asking how FSC plans can be loaded into PMDG ?. If so then all you have to do is tick the PMDG box when saving.

The instructions that come with FSC are very good and really need to be read.

Patrick thanks for the response.

I have a problem importing saved flights into any add on aircraft that has a reasonably sophisticated functioning FMC. Any add on aircraft will follow a saved flight plan. However, the saved flight plan will not automatically load into any of the add on aircraft with a FMC. This is despite following the flight sim commander manual. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Shaun,

an external program like FSCommander CAN NOT load the exported flight plan into your FMC automatically.

You have to load the exported flight plan into your FMC manually.

Please read your FMC manual and search for loading flight plans.

Volker

Hello there,

As Volker says you have to load the flightplan into the PMDG product after you have saved it correctly in FSC.

In the PMDG FMC you just enter the the name you saved in FMC into the CO. ROUTE in the FMC - lsk 3r on the initial route page.

I must admit PMDG don't explain this very well in their user guide - you may find this helpful http://smithplanet.com/fs2004/pmdg/index.htm.

Persevere, the combination of FS Commander and PMDG works brilliantly - I like it so much I added a cheap second monitor for use on FS Commander

I saved a FS Commander flight plan to the C:\programfiles(86)\microsoftgames\flight simulator 9/PMDG/flightplans directory and confirmed it was there. However, entering the name into the CO.ROUTE with the lsk 3r yields "Not in database." PMDG's FMC user manual at page 8-19 says that this is the proper spot to save PMDG flight plans. I checked PMDG when I saved the flight plan from FS Commander. I don't understand why this doesn't work.

Help would be appreciated.

Hi Anonymous,

There is no reason that you save the flight plan here: C:\programfiles(86)\microsoftgames\flight simulator 9/PMDG/flightplans directory.

This step leads to the FSC by themselves.

Just read the manual, chapter 5.5, Saving and loading flight plans, page 54, ParagraphFlight plans in the format of PMDG Boeings or the Level-D 767 are saved ...

It is important that you have setting the flight plan path for your simulator in the Options Window.

I read the manual on that page and saved the flight plan to the Flight Plan directory for FS9 by checking "Go directly to FS Flight Plan directory." I confirmed that it is there. Again, when I enter that name (or the name with .pln)using th FMC CO ROUTE lsk 2 on the RTE page, the PMDG FMC says "Not in Database." I do find flight plans that I saved from FS9 using the PMDG aircraft in that same directory. :(

Hi Anonymous,

post your FSC.INI here and let me know the drive and path where your Flight Simulator are.

Seems to be a bit of a mystery.

I use FSX with PMDG and with it you do not add the extension to the flight plan name when loading co.route.

Also in the FMC it is entered in rsk3 in the ROUTE page, you mention lsk2 ??.

This is probably a silly question - are you perhaps using FSX for FS Commander with fs9 for PMDG ?

Hi Volker:

My name is Nelson. I don't know why you are only seeing anonymous, because I see my user name "nrcapes" in every post.

I didn't understand your question about where FS is installed. I use both FS9 and FSX.

FS9: c:\programfiles(x86)\microsoftgames\flightsimulator9

FSX: c:\programfiles(x86)\microsoftgames\microsoftflightsimulatorx

I use FS Commander with both FSX and FS9. It saves flight plans correctly in both simulators for aircraft other than the PMDG, which of course is only FS9, since PMDG does not support the 737 NG for FSX.

IN my FMC, co.route is entered in lsk3 of the RTE page. What aircraft are you flying?

Volker:

I am posting the fsc.ini file AFTER I set the Flight Plan folder in the Window>Options menu. It is set in Window>Options to c:\programfiles(x86)\microsoftgames\flightsimulator9, but FSC does not save this to the fsc.ini file. I can send you a screen shot of the Options card if you like (but I don't know how to do it on this forum).

Thanks for all your help, but there is still something not working. I exited FSC after doing Flightplan>Save as, navigating to c:\programfiles(x86)\microsoftgames\flightsimulator9, entering "testkmspkdtw" as the flight plan name, and checking the PMDG box. The plan is saved in c:\programfiles(x86)\microsoftgames\flightsimulator9\pmdg but not in c:\programfiles(x86)\microsoftgames\flightsimulator9\pmdg\flightplans. Also, it is not in PMDG format but in FS9 format. When I select Flightplans rsk key under Navdata in the PMDG FMC, this name does not appear. I believe I saw an earlier post about FSC not saving a flight plan in PMDG format.

Hi Volker:

As I put in my earlier post, fsc.ini still does not have the FPPATH= set, but suddenly there is a .rte file in the PMDG Flight Plans directory that loads into the PMDG FMC. I do not understand why this did not work earlier, but it works now.

Hi all

I had the same problem as volker, that is why I followed closely this thread.

I was trying to save a flight plan from cyyz to cyul as CYYZCYUL and it gave me the errore msg Error Writing PMDG FP.

For some reason I changed the name of the FP to CYYZCYUL-FSC just to make a test and it worked. Why? No clue. It might work for Volker.

Bat :)
