Pre purchase query - usability of FSC features

Just a clarification please. What features are usable in FSC if you load a flightplan into FSX/FS9 and use the default FSX/FS9 GPS or a third party one for navigation (or even the old fashioned way - VORs etc), but don't have a flightplan loaded in FSC (because you can't import FS flightplans into FSC - a big drawback IMHO). On the face of it just the information you can glean from the map but I may be missing something. Thanks

Don't understand what you mean  It doesn't make any sense using FSC without a flightplan loaded. Why FSX plans can not be loaded has been discussed a thousend times here in the forum. When you load a FSC plan in FSX, it is loaded into the GPS and works like a normal plan (thats what FSX can handle). You can of course use it in FMCs of other aircrafts, depending on their individual requirements and procedures.

I recommend you to download FSC and test it in the trial mode (terminates after 30 min.)

Hi Bruce,

there is little we can add to what Otto has written. It is difficult to imagine why anyone owning FS Commander would want to exclusively create flight plans with FSX and then load those into FS Commander, simply because - as many have observed before - the FSX flight planner is not a very sophisticated tool compared to what virtually all other flight planning programs offer. And even if it were possible to load FSX plans into FS Commander, this would not be very recommendable - to say the least. Remember that FSX is more than 4 years old and therefore relatively inaccurate as far as the current waypoint, airway, etc. situation in the world is concerned.

Regards

Sascha & Volker
