Hello, Is there anyway to get higher quality models in 5.3a as was in previous version. I remember "Install aircraft with full resolution and animation" which is no longer an option and the models do not look realistic like before.

By default, 5.3a installes the highest quality option. You have global texture quality maxed? This can be switched now from Communicator "Manage Aircraft Configuration" or the start menu.

thanks Burkhard but I already have what I believe is high res aircraft working. I check the first 2 check boxes and then select for all aircraft from Communicator. Also, the AI A/C landing gear does not appear until at close distance - What is this? It looks weird to see A/C landing without gear down.

This is the grafics driver. MyTraffic models are programmed to not display any part that is smaller than or equal one pixel on screen at full quality settings. Some grafics drivers, to achieve high benchmark values, cheat every games LOD system by telling it an object has 1 pixel only when in reality it still has four. You can stear this using the drivers sliders, put these to highest quality. But still they cheat you in fullscreen mode - fullscreen is intended for fast low quality ego shooters, not for detailed grafics.

This cheat effect gets worse with wide screen displays, they display 1920x1080 as example but report the object size as if it were 1280x1024. Since several versions, I'm slowly shifting the switch points on models that have this effect reported by users further away from the user - knowing that the CPU and GPU load goes with the square of this distance, so if it switches at 1650m instead of 1500m, the CPU load goes up by 20% - you see why this needs fine tuning.
