Uninstalling FSUIPC unregistered version

Recommended Posts

HI:

I would like to uninstall FSUIPC Version 4 but I have been unable to locate any uininstaller or have been unable to find the information in the forums or the Help file. I am using FSX with Acceleration fully updated, have alot of addons, running Windows XP 32bit with latest service pack. This is an unregistered version of FSUIPC I am referring to.

Simply delete FSUIPC.dll from FSX\modules. That's all you need to do to remove it. There's also a documentation folder and the configuration file (FSUIPC.ini) but those can remain without causing any problems if you want to reinstall it later.

However why do you want to uninstall it? Are you sure that nothing else you have installed requires it to work?

I see Ian answered well, but I'm surprised you looked in all those places yet not in the most obvious, i.e. the User Guide which has a section entitles "De-installation" within its first few pages and which it also lists in the contents on page 2! :-(

Yes i did find the Deinstallation in the read me, but that didnt work.

I installed FSUIPC unregistered version to see if it would improve my flight sim, it didnt. Now Flight Sim X now quit working. My first clue was my addons didnt load, I usually have to click 8 times to allow all add on modules to run. Today I got 1 which was in regards to FSUIPC as being trusted software, I clicked yes.

Flight sim loads but the aircraft preview is black and when I load a flight the load screen goes from 0 to 80% in 1 second then says loading complete but the screen is black, and when i use Task Manager it says Flight Simulator X is not responding.

Thanks for your time

Excuse me, but if you delete FSUIPC4.DLL it cannot possibly run, so such de-installation must "work"!

There's no difference between "registered" and "unregistered" if you don't use it. If it isn't used it cannot improve or change anything, it just sits there waiting to be used! It's a tool not a wonder cure.

Now Flight Sim X now quit working. My first clue was my addons didnt load, I usually have to click 8 times to allow all add on modules to run. Today I got 1 which was in regards to FSUIPC as being trusted software, I clicked yes.

In that case you most certainly have not deleted the DLL as instructed!

Flight sim loads but the aircraft preview is black and when I load a flight the load screen goes from 0 to 80% in 1 second then says loading complete but the screen is black, and when i use Task Manager it says Flight Simulator X is not responding.

Those sort of hangs are almost almost due to a corruption in the files being loaded -- you can tell which ones because it tells you in that progress bar. Also you might need to wait a while. I think mine stops at 83% for quite some time. I seem to recall that's when it is loading and sorting its Autogen, but it might be scenery objects. The last things are weather and traffic.

Regards

Pete

Traffic can be particularly bad if you have some of the FS9 freeware traffic installed such as ProjectAI or Military AI Works. For some reason, having either installed made a massive difference to my load times, which isn't replicated by having a far larger number of traffic models and liveries installed now with MyTrafficX.

I've never tried replacement autogen files to know if they make any difference, but the load time was reduced massively when I deleted the MAIW files.

Well Pete, I did delete as instructed.

Im not sure what happened. I went from a working Flight Simulator X with many paid for addons, I dont have or use freeware, installed FSUIPC and now I have a non working Flight Simulator X.

Heres the install logs from the Modules folder in Flight Simulator X

Try renaming fsx.cfg (you'll find it in C:\Users\*username*\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX) to "fsx.cfgold" and then restarting the sim, which will cause it to rebuild the CFG file. If that works, unfortunately, you will have to reset all your preferences and settings. If it doesn't help, you can always delete your new fsx.cfg and simply rename your fsx.cfgold back to fsx.cfg to restore it.

I seem to remember that the black aircraft preview window was something to do with graphics drivers - you haven't updated or changed settings on those recently, have you?

I believe it was a driver issue as Ian had mentioned.

I got a notification from Nvidia about the new Graphics driver out for us Nvidia useres. That installation failed. I never tried Flight Sim X between installing FSUPIC and updating the graphics driver. I had to revert back to the older Nvidia Graphics driver to get 3D applications to run.

I had already decided to uninstall my Flight Sim X and reinstall it so that is what I have done.

My framerate has almost doubled with new installation of Flight Sim X and all my add ons, so Im happy. I never installed FSUPIC because it looks like that product is to technical for me and my limited knowledge of PCs.

Thanks
