WideFS. Server FSX Win7 64bit, Client WinXP, no connect

Recommended Posts

Hello Peter

I run FSX on a new PC. i7 QuadCore, Win7 64bit, SSD-Disk, Nvidia GeForce GTX570, etc.; everything works well.

I want to run PlanG and/or Flight Sim Commander on my "old" PC. DualCore, WinXP (32bit), etc.; everything works well.

The PC's are connected via WLAN.

I bought FSUIPC4 and WideFS7 at simmarket:

Bestelldatum: Sonntag, 24. Juli 2011

Bestellte Produkte:

1 x PETE DOWSON - FSUIPC4 (2068) = EUR 18.00

Your Registration Key:

Name: Werner Schott

Email: werner.schott@bluewin.ch

FSUIPC4 Key: I will not publish here, but I have one :)

1 x PETE DOWSON - WIDEFS7 (2069) = EUR 18.00

Your Registration Key:

Name: Werner Schott

Email: werner.schott@bluewin.ch

WIDEFS7 Key: I will not publish here, but I have one :)

I installed FSUIPC and WideFS Server on the FSX PC, where I had to give the Keys (PrintSceen for registration available).

I installed (copied as described in the manual) WideFS Client on the "old" PC. But I had no opportunity to give in a Key!!!???

I deactivated WinFirewall on both PC's.

I started FSX and it shows "Microsoft Flight Simulator X with WideServer: Waiting for Clients" (PrintSceen available).

I started WideClient and it shows "WideClient FS98 Eliminator - Waiting for a connection" (PrintSceen available).

That's it ==> also after some minutes: no connection.

I'm one of the users, who read manuals, but it didn't help .

In the "WideFS User Guide.pdf" is written, what I have to send to you, that you can help me. The files are enclosed

I have also all other files (incl. PrintScreens) but as an attachment it seems to be too big, so please tell me, if you need it and where I can send it.

Please excuse my English.

Regards Werner (Vienna_45)

WideClient needs no key -- WideFS is registered on the FSX PC. You can have as many clients as you like. Why would clients need keys if they cannot talk to an unregistered server?

When you read the manuals, did you do what they suggested? It doesn't seem so, unfortunately ...

I don't want pictures. I need you to tell me what you have done. Do your computers see each other? Are they in the same workgroup, as suggested in the manual? If not, and you don't want them to be, have you edited the client INI file to provide the Server details -- the name and protocol, or the IP address and protocol?

[LATER]

Looking at the files you included, I see that WideClient is waiting for the Server to tell it who it is, where it is:

1188 Trying to locate server: Need details from Server Broadcast

1188 Failed to connect: waiting to try again

Yet the Server is broadcasting:

16099 Broadcasting service every 1000 mSecs

You appear to have not yet bothered to enter the ServerName and Protocol parameters into the Wideclient.INI, as suggested in the Manual. It actually looks like they cannot connect automatically because the two PCs are in different workgroups, so you did not bother to change those to be the same either? That's the first thing to do if you want a good working network. Unfortunately Win7/Vista and XP use different default workgrop names. I always change all mine to "PETES".

Which manuals did you actually read? You seem to have missed the main section on configuring your network. Please do check again.

Regards

Pete

Hello Peter

Yes, it's my fault. Of course I read the manual, but I was focussed on the firewall.

Now, I included the 2 lines and it works well (with normal activated firewall!). Plan-G ... no problem.

Anyway. Thank you very much for your support.

P.S. I'm not the specialist for networks, but I created manuals/checklists for a lot of aircraft and published it on several download servers as "flightsim.com" and others. I had more than 300'000 downloads. If you are interested, search there with my full name "Werner Schott".

Okay, I will! Thank you!
