Updating from MyTraffic 5.4 to MyTraffic 5.4a for FSX

Recommended Posts

MyTraffic 5.4a has been finished now. A detailed description of what is new will follow shortly once the full installer is on sales.

The biggest change will be the inclusion of MyCaptain, an extension of AI traffic to ships. This has a severe consequence for the installation process, it cannot be done the way we did it before, but needs a full installer which is able to add entries to the start menu. Therefore, unfortunately it is not possible to use the communicator process for the update, this must be done manually.

You find the incremental update from version 5.4 to version 5.4a under http://www.fsrail.com/MTXU54a.zip . Unpack it anywhwere and run the installer MTXU54a.exe that you find inside. This will install everything where it should be, no second step of the installation is needed.

After installation, since I do not know which of the schedules you currently fly, please start the communicator and select the schedule set you wish, most likely the DX9-and DX10 2012 schedule set or the MyTraffic Live compatible one.

Then you should be done, happy flying!

Please, place all questions or comments about MyCaptain into that subforum.

After downloading the update and opening the file I get an error saying Unexpected end of archive. When attempting to run the installer it says that the archive is either in unknown format or damaged, and that it cannot execute the file.

Have you tried a download manager?

I use Getright, personally, after having massive problems getting exactly this problem from the servers of a team that I was beta testing for. Getright is payware, from the days when all the download managers were, but there are freeware equivalents now and every time I have had similar issues, using a 3rd party download manager rather than the next to useless IE and Firefox internal ones has allowed me to get the full file.

Yes, I use DownThemAll in Firefox.

Are you saying you managed to d/l it successfully...?

I don't actually have MTX5.4 unfortunately, so no, I haven't tried downloading the 5.4a update. I was just making a suggestion based on my experiences with other similar problems.

Once I'm off the notebook and back onto my main PC, I'll try the update download myself and see what happens.

Cheers,

Ian P.

To update from MyTraffic 2010 any version, you need to purchase the "Crossgrade" from Simmarket http://secure.simmarket.com/mytraffic-x-cross-update.phtml which updates any of the MyTraffic 2010 versions to MyTraffic 5.4. You must have MyTraffic 2010 installed and working properly to apply this update. Once you have purchased this, you can as well install the free updates available from Simmarket as get the high discounts and special offers like any other Simmarket costumor - since you have contributed to the high costs this forum and the surrounding support infrastructure makes.

Only exception, if you purchased MyTraffic 2010 from Simmarket, then Simmarket allows you to use all the special offers already now - they know you.

MyTraffic 2013 is a different product line, produced and supported by Aerosoft and not here by Simmarket. It is optimized for consumer needs, while MyTraffic Professional is intended for people with higher skills and expectations, including a regular update path.
