karbil
I ran a successful install of FSUIPC4.82. When I start up FSX., no add-on drop down menu shows nor does any reference to FSUIPC show. I checked my FSX modules folder and all is there. I especially need FSUIPC to run FSFlyingSchool. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, BobK. Pete Dowson
You posted the same message twice -- I've deleted the other. I ran a successful install of FSUIPC4.82. When I start up FSX., no add-on drop down menu shows nor does any reference to FSUIPC show. Did FSX ask you to approve it being loaded the first time? If so did you say yes, to load it and to trust it? Is there an FSUIP4 log file and an INI file in the Modules folder? If there's a log please show it to me. If not, please find the DLL.XML file in this folder@ C:\Users\Bob\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX and paste it here. Pete
karbil
I do not have an FSUIPC4 log file nor an INI file in my Modules folder. Also, FSX did not ask me to approve it being loaded the first time. As requested, here is the DLL.XML file. Pete Dowson
I do not have an FSUIPC4 log file nor an INI file in my Modules folder. Also, FSX did not ask me to approve it being loaded the first time. As requested, here is the DLL.XML file. Okay, I see the problem. Your DLL.XML file was already corrupted at the end so that FSUIPC4's addition was ineffective. This section: <Launch.Addon> <Name>Feel </Launch.Addon> is incomplete and has mismatching bracketing. FS will stop processing the file when it gets to this. Delete those two lines and it should be okay. Regards Pete
karbil
Thanks for the help. I'll do as you suggested, give it a try, and let you know how it works out. BobK
karbil
Pete, I did as you suggested but still do not have FSUIPC as an add-on in FSX. Can I delete my modules folder and re-install FSUIPC4 and start all over again? BobK
Pete Dowson
Pete, I did as you suggested but still do not have FSUIPC as an add-on in FSX. Can I delete my modules folder and re-install FSUIPC4 and start all over again? Replacing the same program by the same program won't make any difference. Are you saying there is still no FSUIPC4.log file or FSUIPC4.ini file in the Modules folder? What files are there? Your DLL.XML file was most certainly wrong, and I cannot imagine there being two separate faults in your system, so I'd be more inclined to think that you didn't actually correct the DLL.XML file properly. Maybe you should post it again? Pete
karbil
That is correct. I still do not have an FSUIPC4.log file nor an FSUIPC4.ini file. Here is a copy of my corrected DLL.XML file. Pete Dowson
That is correct. I still do not have an FSUIPC4.log file nor an FSUIPC4.ini file. Here is a copy of my corrected DLL.XML file. It is as I thought. You deleted three lines instead of the two I said! You need to put this: <Launch.Addon> back in front of the line first mentioning FSUIPC4. Files like this are VERY fussy. You must be careful when editing them to do exactly as needed. I hate XML for this very reason -- INI and CFG files are much more flexible, but Microsoft chose to go down this XML route. :-( Pete
karbil
Thank you again for sticking with me. Does this look correct now? Pete Dowson
Thank you again for sticking with me. Does this look correct now? Yes, but the best test (and quickest!) would have been to try. Did you not? Pete
karbil
Yes, I initially did not because I wanted to check with you first. But, I have tried it and, HOORAH, it works. Thank you so much for staying with me and all of your help. You da man. Bobk.

Pete Dowson
Can you help me? I'm having the same problem, apart from the dll.xml file is different. As far as I can tell from that (difficult to read unformatted) rendition of the DLL.XML file, it is okay, so FSUIPC should be loading. Are you sure it's the same problem? You have no FSUIPC log file produced at all? Pete
