mip-mapped to DXT5

Hi all,

I am coming from FS9, just installed FSX and now looking for an AI Add on.

I have My traffic X 5.1 (which I bought because it came with an FS9 version as well), boxed version, and it seems to be from aerosoft.

My questions:

Can I update this version to My Traffic Pro 5.4?

If not I might buy MT Pro 5.4 but I would like to know the following first:

Does My Traffic 5.4 also come with the time machine function (I love that!)

Is it possible to import other AI models (like the propliners from calclassic.com) with help of MT pro?

Are the AI models that come with MT Pro 5.4 mip-mapped to DXT5?

(That sound very Pro like, but make no mistake I have no idea what I am talking about :-)

(I just read somewhere that such models would increase performance!)

Looking fwd to a reply, thx in advance

DXT5 is a special alternative to DXT3 which is putting an alpha channel to the textures. This alpha channel for AI aircraft always makes transparencies - but if we allow for transparencies this makes the draw calls a factor of 2 slower. MyTraffic has all textures as DXT1 since the non transparent part of the textures is identical for DXT1, 3 and 5, and all transparencies are made by much faster non textured materials.

In your case, please get the crossgrade from Simmarket and then send me a PM with the order number, since you need a slightly different file then the one you get.

And yes, the time machine still is in MyTraffic Professional.

Hi, Thx for the fast reply and for your nice offer !

Ok so I understand DXT1 is even better.

Just wanted to make sure that the AI aircraft models My Traffic X uses will have better performance than the default ones FSX uses.

Just bought the Cross Update  so I have an order number now.

A PM?

You mean like an Email?

I have looked, but I cant find your Email.
