Problem w/ Not Being Allowed To Assign Planes To Profile

Recommended Posts

Hi: I have been having a bit of a problem assigning aircraft, especially A2A aircraft, to a profile under FSUIPC. I am posting this message on the A2A and FSUIPC support forums, in the hopes of finding a solution. I have a registered copy of FSUIPC, and it is set to use “profiles.” I have all of the A2A aircraft with accusim installed, except for the civilian version of the P-51. My computer specs are below, and I have Windows 7 64 bit set up with full administrator rights, and UAC turned off.

I have spent some time searching through various forums to find a solution, and I thought I had it licked until today. Here’s what has happened, and what I have done.

Yesterday, I had tinkered a little with the joystick assignment utility for the Accusim B-17, did not assign any controls, shut it down, and started FSX. I had a profile set up for four engine props, started FSX, loaded the B-17 (with Accusim), but every time that I clicked on the small box next to “profile specific,” FSUIPC would remove the check mark and not allow me to assign any of my B-17 repaints to the profile I had created. I then tried other non-A2A (the Milviz F-86 and default Cessna), no luck.

I checked the “FSUIPC4.ini” file in the modules folder, and under the relevant [profile.xxx] heading, FSUIPC had created a number for the plane that I tried to assign, but there was no reference to the aircraft itself. (i.e., “3= [empty space]”). I tried everything, including removing FSUIPC, installing the latest version, and attempting to create new profiles. No luck; same problem.

I came across this posting in the FSUIPC forum where someone was having the exact same problem ( (

page__hl__+profile%20+assign#entry443885). After reading through this, I uninstalled, rebooted, and reinstalled my FSX Acceleration (from what I read, to repair simconnect). I then reinstalled the Accusim B-17, reinstalled FSUIPC, and everything worked fine, including all the Accusim aircraft.

I attempted once more to use the A2A configuration tool to assign a controller to operate the boost control lever in the P-47 with accusim. The same problem arose. This time, I went to the “tools” folder (“C:/FSX/A2A/P-47/Tools”), and noted that the configuration tool created some form of “ini” files to set up the joystick assignment. I deleted everything – except for the installation “logs” created when I installed the aircraft and the configuration tool itself – and I could again assign planes to profiles in FSUIPC with no problem.

Today, I installed the Accusim core update (“accusim_fsx_core_update_v1.5.1”), tried to fly the P-51, but found that the same problem of not being able to assign planes to a profile has returned. I went through all of the A2A tool folders to see if there were files related to the configuration tools that I could remove, but found none.

Does anyone have an idea about what is going on, and how I can fix this?

Thanks

Mike Gutierrez

Can you please define what you mean by "latest version"? Is that 4.859i, or something easrlier? I always need Version Numberrs, please, else it could mean anything. See Download Links subforum for versions.

If you have the problem with any supported version (i.e 4.853 or later) I need to see the FSUIPC4.INI file.

I came across this posting in the FSUIPC forum where someone was having the exact same problem

I can't find that, and I'm afraid the link you provided doesn't work for me.

I attempted once more to use the A2A configuration tool to assign a controller to operate the boost control lever in the P-47 with accusim. The same problem arose. Sorry, I don't understand. What are these "tools"? This is now sounding like a problem with A2A's software/ Have you asked in their Support Forum?

Does anyone have an idea about what is going on, and how I can fix this?

Please try with the latest FSUIPC4 (4.859i) and let me see the INI file. You can paste it's contents here.

Pete

In response to your questions: (1) A2A has a unique joystick configuration tool for each of their aircraft. The tool allows one to assign a joystick axis for unique functions in each plane. In the case of the P-47, there is boost lever that you use to adjust the amount of boost supplied by a virtual supercharger (turbocharger?). Any way, I posted this same message on the A2A website. I am pretty certain that something is going on with the A2A planes, but I thought I would check here as well. (2) The version of FSUIPC I installed is the one that is available on the FSUIPC main page (FSUIPC4 4.853). Where can I obtain the version you referenced in your post? (3) The thread I referred to in my email was started on June 30, 2012 by "abh jc 03." I've printed the page as a "pdf" file that I can send to you. (4) Tonight, I removed and reinstalled FSX acceleration again. A could again assign planes to profiles, until I loaded the B-17, and the problem started all over again. What follows is the contents of my fsuipc.ini file. If you look under the last heading labeled "Profile.Twin Engine Jet Fighter" you will see an entry for "1=" with no aircraft title following. This is my last attempt to assign a plane to this profile, but, as I noted, FSUIPC removed the check mark and would not let me assign the plane. Thanks for your help. Mike Gutierrez

The version of FSUIPC I installed is the one that is available on the FSUIPC main page (FSUIPC4 4.853). Where can I obtain the version you referenced in your post?

Interim updates and other things are available here in the Support Forum, via the Download Links subforum. It is one of four useful resources at the top of this main Forum page.

(3) The thread I referred to in my email was started on June 30, 2012 by "abh jc 03." I've printed the page as a "pdf" file that I can send to you.

No thank you. Found it by date. I see that was due to the aircraft name being reported as null (""). There's no way FSUIPC can select profiles without the name. Did you go through the checks I advised in that thread? Is your aircraft name coming across as blank also?

I see that thread ended without any resolution being posted by the originator.

Yes, it is the same. There is no way possible for FSUIPC to operate Profiles without names for the aircraft being profiled. Sorry. There is something about those aircraft which is messing up how the aircraft name is supplied. If A2A can suggest anything I'd be glad to cooperate, but FSUIPC can only work with what it is given.

Regards

Pete

Just as a side note to this thread, I have all the A2A Accu-sim aircraft and I use "short aircraft names"

and assign my settings using "aircraft specific" and not "profiles".

On some of thos aircraft I do use the A2A configurator for some axis but most of my assignments

are done in FSUIPC4.

I have had NO issues with assignments not 'sticking'. Many of my assignments use compound

button programming and the ini file entries are quite extensive. There aren't any problems

with the A2A aircraft names. They are recognized when I load them and the correct set of

aircraft-specific controls are loaded.
