P3D 1.4 ... STB-msg: Failed to make runway csv files !

Hi Simon,

yes "makerwsy.exe" is there. I ran it and it created the csv files, so that STB seems to work now. At least it connected to P3D and displayed a lot of scheduled flights. This is all I can report so far. What was the Problem ? Need I to do anything else ?

Thank you

Bruno

Please set up and run a trace as per Appendix C of the user guide, and with the trace running do a Make Runways and Compile Airport Database. It sounds like the P3D installation path may not be recorded in the registry, perhaps the trace will show that or something else. STB will run very well without either of these things being done, albeit with less detail (no future flights, distances to runway, etc.)

This is of interest:

29.03.2013 20:00:03.439: > FileHelper.GetRegistryValue() key:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\LockheedMartin\Prepar3D, subKey:SetupPath

29.03.2013 20:00:03.439: < FileHelper.GetRegistryValue: Read D:\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D from HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\LockheedMartin\Prepar3D/SetupPath

29.03.2013 20:00:03.439: FileHelper.ValidateInstallationPath: Returning D:\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D

The subtle thing here is there should be a trailing folder separator character (i.e. "\") following Prepar3D. This "bug" has been around since FSX, and I'm not sure why it affects a few people. I even put code into STB to try to deal with it, but it looks like P3D has danced around it somehow. It's possible these are responsible for both issues.

If you are confident about making registry changes, you just need to edit HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\LockheedMartin\Prepar3D\SetupPath and add the trailing slash to the value. If not, we'll have to figure something else out.
