I HAVE UPDATED MY FSUIPC TO VERSION 4.91 AND MY SAITEK HARDWARE IS NOT WORKING

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone!

I'm really worried! On 02/27/2012 I purchased Fsuipc version 4.80. Everything was working fine with my Saitek pro flight yoke and Tpm. A few months later, I updated it to a 4.90 version as Pete Dawson told us in the forum. Everything  was ok with this version too but when I installed my saitek pro flight switch panel drivers, my panel didn't work properly. I thought I should update my fsuipc to the latest version (4.91) so I checked existing registration user. When I restarted Fsx, my yoke and Tpm didn't work. I can't calibrate my yoke and tpm. I uninstalled everything (fsuipc.ini, dll, key, etc) and I returned to install my old Fsuipc version 4.80. Again everything worked fine! Today I have purchased the new version 4.91 thinking everything would work fine and Fsuipc don't recognize my Saitek pro flight yoke and Tpm systems. what should I do? Could I post my log file here? Please, I need your help.

Thank you very much

I moved your post from the "FAQ" subforum, where it is lucky I noticed it, to the Support Forum which is where you need to be to ask for support.

You NEVER need to re-purchase FSUIPC4. You are entitled to all updates, forever.

There is no difference whatsoever in the way FSUIPC 4.9 reads joysticks to that used in FSUIPC 4.8.  All versions of FSUIPC4 use standard DirectInput facilities in the same way as FSX itself.

Please, yes, post the log file from 4.91, and, more importantly, the INI file showing your settings. Just paste them into a message.

Thank you very much Pete, but It's too late for me now! I purchased it twice...  :???:  Here you can find my logs and ini file. I hope you can help me. It's very important for me.

Kind regards,

Fran

Well, if that's a newly generated INI file with 4.91, it is seeing the Saitek devices okay, as you can see. So there's no reason why you shouldn't be able to assign. What have you actually tried to do? Are you assigning buttons and axes in FSUIPC, or are you assigning in FSX and only claibrating in FSUIPC. I can't tell from the settings because there are no buton assignments, no axis assignments, and no calibrations.

Pete

I'm trying to assign axes and buttons in FSUIPC only. I have disabled controls in FSX. If I install FSUIPC version 4.80 everything work fine for me. In Axes and buttons window, when I move my yoke and Tpm, Fsuipc 4.91 don't recognize it.

Hmm. Very strange.

I've added some extra logging. Please download FSUIPC4913a and copy the DLL into your Modules folder. Edit the INI file, adding these lines to the [General] section:

Debug=Please

LogButtonsKeys=Yes

LogAxes=Yes

LogExtras=xA00008

This will (or should!) cause a lot of logging, so it's only temporary. It should log every single read of every joystick which is (a ) successful, and (b ) different from before. Go into FSUIPC's options, try to assign some buttons, then axes. Show me the log and tell me exactly what happened on screen.

Currently I don't understand it, because there's no difference at all in this part of FSUIPC since 4.80 (or even since 4.0). And it is perfectly fine here with Saitek axes and buttons.

Thank you again for your faster replies Pete. I'm going to try it, but while I would like to post here my old FSUIPC.INI (4.80 version). I think it could be useful for you too. Also I have tried to copy [Joynames]  [Axes] and [buttons] sections from my old version (4.80) to new (4.91) but it doesn't recognize my Saitek hardware. I will inform you when I test your temporary logging.

Hmm. See nothing there which is going to be different. And the Joystick names etc are identical to those detected by 4.91. It DOES recognse them because it adds them to the INI.

Hi again Pete,

I have tried your temporary solution, I have done everything step by step but it didn't work for me. I have tried to calibrate the yoke and assign some keys. You can see it in the log file attached, but my controls doesn't move in FSUIPC. It's very strange. If I could create a new profile and see the assigned buttons, why can't I move my Saitek yoke and Tpm?

I have tried your temporary solution, I have done everything step by step but it didn't work for me

What "temporary solution"? I've not come up with any solution yet because I don't understand the problem. I told you that! I added more logging in the interim release, version 4.913a, in order to try to find more information to tell me what is going on! Please read what I write a little more carefully or we'll get no where at all!

I have tried to calibrate the yoke and assign some keys.

Er, hold on. "Calibrate the yoke"? You cannot calibrate the yoke unless you've assigned the axes on it to something to calibrate!!!! I assumed you were talking about ASSIGNMENTS not CALIBRATION.

You can see it in the log file attached

I can't see anything at all in the log because you haven't supplied one. You just posted your INI file again! AND I can see that you haven't even bothered to add the lines I asked you to add! Those lines were to give me more information to help you out!!

If I could create a new profile and see the assigned buttons

So are you now saying you can see and assign buttons!!?? Earlier you were saying that FSUIPC didn't see your devices at all!

I'm sorry, but I have to finiish with this for now. I'm going to be out for the next few days. I respectfully suggest you read back over this thread, because there appears some misunderstandings going on. You don't add the lines to the INI as I asked, you don't supply the log, you talk abouty calibrations and not assignments,. All this suggests that you are perhaps not reading my messages and not understanding that you need to assign axes before you can calibrate.

I might be able to check back tomorrow night, or maybe Wednesday, but if not it could be a week from now as i'm away. If there is a genuine problem here I need information before I can provide any solutions, let alone "temporary" ones. That's what logging is all about. It tells me what is going on.

:sad:

Regards

Pete

Sorry Pete! I think there is a lot of misunderstandings here! For me it's very difficult trying to understand and write technical English. When I told you "temporary solution" I was referring to your comment " I've added some extra logging. This will (or should!) cause a lot of logging, so it's only temporary "...

1. I downloaded FSUIPC4913aI

2. I copied the DLL file into my Modules folder as you told me...

3. I Edited my INI file, adding these lines to the [General] section as you told me...

Debug=Please
LogButtonsKeys=Yes
LogAxes=Yes
LogExtras=xA00008

4. The following step was loading my FSX, I opened FSUIPC and tried to assign some buttons and axes but my Saitek Yoke and TPM didn't move! I created a new profile, I pressed some keys, I tried to calibrate, but the problem was exactly the same. FSUIPC didn't recognize my Saitek Hardware one more time.

5. I posted here my INI file when I closed FSX as you told me (you can see the following lines in it)

[General]
Debug=Please
UpdatedByVersion=4913a

But doesn't appear these lines (I don't know why)...

(LogButtonsKeys=Yes
LogAxes=Yes
LogExtras=xA00008

After to do this, I deleted all FSUIPC files from my Modules folder and all FSUIPC lines from my FSX.CFG, Again, I installed my older FSUIPC version 4.80, I loaded FSX, I opened FSUIPC and when I moved my Saitek controls, Everything worked fine!

I don't know what is happening in my computer! I'm not a personal programmer, I'm only a flight simmer and a customer who paid FSUPC twice!

Today I will try to read this post again and do everything you told me. If it doesn't work, I will revert to my old FSUIPC version 4.80.

I do apologise for all the inconvenience.

Kind regards,

Fran

I didn't sleep well, so got up rather earlier than usual, so I managed to see your new reply:

Sorry Pete! I think there is a lot of misunderstandings here! For me it's very difficult trying to understand and write technical English. When I told you "temporary solution" I was referring to your comment " I've added some extra logging. This will (or should!) cause a lot of logging, so it's only temporary "...

Yes, a temporary change in order to get more information of the problem, NOT any sort of "solution". I wouldn't have expected ANY changes in behaviour at all, just a much bigger log file!

1. I downloaded FSUIPC4913aI

2. I copied the DLL file into my Modules folder as you told me...

3. I Edited my INI file, adding these lines to the [General] section as you told me...

Debug=Please
LogButtonsKeys=Yes
LogAxes=Yes
LogExtras=xA00008

But only the first line is in the INI you showed me. If you really did add the lines properly, then this can only mean you tried adding the lines whilst FS was running, instead of before! That would remove those lines, because the logging options can't be changed whilst FSUIPC is running!

I don't know why you expected there to be any difference! The ONLY thing I changed was to add more logging, as I keep saying!

5. I posted here my INI file when I closed FSX as you told me (you can see the following lines in it)

No, I told you to post the LOG file, which would have provided more information if you had added the lines to the INI file correctly BEFORE running FS!

It seems you don't actually read what I write. It is nothing to do with technical misunderstandings, it is things like reading "INI" when I write "LOG".

Today I will try to read this post again and do everything you told me. If it doesn't work, I will revert to my old FSUIPC version 4.80.

If you do that then I cannot support you at all in future. I want to solve the problem in case anyone else gets it too. But I really cannot help unless you do the simple things I ask so I can obtain more information. Don't you see this? When you read the messages please read the actual words thast are there, like "LOG" instead of "INI". And do not edit the INI file when FS is running.

I do apologise for all the inconvenience.

That's okay. It isn't inconvenient for me, but it is for you, and because of this mess it could now be a week before it goes further as I am very busy for these two days (it is my 70th birthday today), and then I'm away till next Monday. However, I will try to get back later if I can.

Regards

Pete

Ok Pete, I will read everything again and I will do all this you told me, step by step. I will post my log file here this afternoon (I can't do it now because I'm in my job) but before do this, I will delete all my old FSUIPC files (version 4.80) from my Modules folder and lines from my FSX.CFG to do a clean install again.

Thank you very much for your replies and support. Happy birthday for your 70 and I hope that we can continue posting here next week.

Kind regards,

Fran

Below you can find the requested log files after to do you told me. I hope this can help you more.

I didn't need the Install log.

The main log is odd, as although it shows that joysticks 0 and 1 are detected without error, it never sees any input from them whatsoever. On my system with Saitek devices connected, the log rapidly fills with many messages showing input from those devices.

You don't have any other software installed for those dvices, do you? Saitek software?

It looks like I'm going to have to add more logging in a different area to see why there are no returns from these devices. I've not seen anything like this before. But unfortunately I'm away soon for a few days -- back Monday. So I can't get to it till then. I suggest you use whatever works for now and I'll get back to you then.

Pete

I only have installed "SPAD" software for my Saitek Pro Flight Switch Panel and the latest and original drivers for my Saitek Yoke and TPM. While you are away, I'm going to install my old FSUIPC version 4.80 and I will update it with the 4.90 version, which also work fine for me.

Thank you for your reply.

Er ... this is NEW information! So 4.90 works for you whilst 4.91 does not? That's amazing! There's really very little different between 4.90 and 4.91 but it is a much better clue than all the millions of little changes since 4.80!

I'll look again next week with this in mind!

Yes Pete!, I could check it yesterday. I was doing some "experiments". First of all I tried to uninstall my SPAD software (just in case...) and reinstall FSUIPC 4.91 without it, but didn't work, so I decided to delete all my FSUIPC files again (from Modules folder and lines from my Fsx.cfg) and reinstall my older version 4.80. Later, I tried to download FSUIPC 4.90 version to do a test and mysteriously it worked very fine! All my axes are calibrated and working, also the buttons.

No problem Pete, I can wait!

Thank you and regards,

Fran

Could you now just try slipping the 4.913a DLL in (download: FSUIPC 4.913a). Maybe it was something to do with the older files.

Else, if there's something only changed between 4.90 and 4.91 it might be easier for me to locate.

Back Sunday or Monday ...

Pete

Ok. I will copy your DLL file from 4.913a to my Modules folder, overwriting the existing. After that, I will post my log file here. May I have to add these lines again (in General)?

Yes, if you've deleted them already. Be sure to go into Butto and Axes tabs and see if you can assign anything.

Please now download FSUIPC4913b.zip and test assigning buttons in that, with those logging options still in place. There should be LOTS of logging, but only whilst you are in the Buttons or Axes options tabs. (This version is no different apart from the extra logging).

Do not wish to hijack link, but I have Saitek Pro yoke, pedals, Radio, switch and multi panels with FSUIPC 4.91 and SPAD. controllers did not work at first until I loaded Saitek drivers for them. Sometimes Multi-panel display does not work unless I reboot system. May be part of his problem, drivers.

Yes, this is what i was thinking. It might certainly apply to the radio, switch and multipanels, but I have had the yoke and i still have a throttle quadrant from Saitek, and i never had anything installed for them for FSUIPC to use them. Also he has said it works with 4.90, which is very very odd because there's no change in any way related to joysticks between 4.90 and 4.91  I'm assuming there's something odd going on somewhere and adding lots more logging is the only way i have of narrowing it down.

Unfortunately the process seems to have stalled since a few days ago.

Here is my log file after copying 4913a and after 4913b. I overwrited my older FSUIPC 4.90 version with them. Please, note that I already had the buttons and axes assigned in my 4.90 version.
