Alex Koshterek
Hi Paul panel.cfg seems to be correct. Try not to use IP in flight info 2 config app, just set default localhost and check if it started listening on the port
Paul Gariepy
that was my thoughts too. but the instructions said to put the ip in there. I also tried with localhost and 127.0.0.1 "Open the Config tool for your FS version and enter your computer's IP address into the local host field. If you don't know your IP address type ipconfig into a DOS command window." Alex Koshterek
actually localhost is the best option especially in case of several network connections Do you have file EFinfo2.log in FSX Gauges folder?
Paul Gariepy
I do not. even ran a search on the whole fsx directory only 3 files with that name .ini .gau and the config.exe Thanks Alex for your time I think we are getting to the heart of the issue. whatever runs the server/makes the log i don't believe is running. Alex Koshterek
Yep, seems so Are you familiar with Depends.exe? (MS tool that checks dll dependencies) It worth opening a .gau file with it, maybe it's broken somehow
Paul Gariepy
Ok I had some more time to play with this today, Thank You alex for the log file note. I completely reinstalled FSX on a a fresh load of windows on a test machine. then added sp1 , sp2, then the map network software and after messing with settings and monitoring the open ports and the folder the log is created in I caught it! By default FSX displays the virtual cockpit and in the challenger center simulator they have another computer handling the glass cockpit so the screen has nothing but outside on it. it appears the server is invoked through a hidden gauge that is tied to the main panel view. as soon as I go to view and check main panel the server starts. and i can see it listening. after this i was able to get the client to connect. so I now just need to find out how to make the hidden gauge run in the plane with no panels turned on. Alex Koshterek
LOL, it's so silly :) Glad that it works now. You can put the hidden gauge onto some VC texture
fvefa
Hi, purchased the Map Network edition yesterday. Did also everything as needed (Allowed the port 4444 under the firewall, put the correct iP number as Localhost on both machines ect. ect) but it is not connecting and not working. My system is connected via Simconnect also using WideFS for some other stuff. Is there any way rather then to uninstall the whole FSX with all add-on's ?????? Or is there any way to run this add-on on one machine instead of network ? On my panel its the GPS button which enables the MAP! on the other machine :) Now it works.
