st1322 0
Hi, I have a question related to VAS usage of My Traffic Pro latest release. Can someone share his knowledge regarding this? Perhaps developer knows? I'm interested in FSX. Thanks in advance, Tom
Burkhard 23
Sionce I even do not know what VAS is I'm afraid I cannot help much, so please explain in detail what you need to know.
Ian P 10
Virtual Address Space, Burkhard. It's running out of VAS that causes most crashes of FSX. PMDG posted a good knowledge base article about it here: http://support.precisionmanuals.com/kb/a108/vas-management-stopping-out-of-memory-oom-errors.aspxHowever, the answer to the OP is that it depends on how high he sets his sliders... if the VAS usage is too much, turn the AI down! ;) Ian P. Burkhard 23
Never had any problem with that, MyTraffic needs about 200MB of extra RAM compared to the normal 700 I see with FSX, so if you run into the 2.5GB limit you must have many addons that are far more demanding, and you are right, turning AI traffic slider down reduces the amount of memory FSX uses for AI traffic. jabloomf1230 3
Actually, there is another option. There is a freeware app (which of course runs in its own address space) that is commonly referred to as the FSX/P3d Traffic Optimizer, which can be found here: http://forum.avsim.net/topic/451048-traffic-optimizer-for-p3d/ FSX and P3D only set AI traffic levels as a percent of the maximum that can occur within the user's "bubble". What the app does in addition, is that it also limits AI aircraft within the bubble to a user specified number like either 50 or 100, while preserving local traffic at the user's airports. This app substantially improves performance and also reduces sim VAS usage while still giving realistic amounts of AI Traffic. It works great with My Traffic Pro. . if the VAS usage is too much, turn the AI down! ;)
Burkhard 23
Thanks for that hint, may help especially in those Areas where FSX/P3D Performance is poor anyways, like the NYC area...
