MTX 6 performance choices

Recommended Posts

I recently got Mytraffic 6. The manual is still from v5.4a. It says there's an option to select different models for the aircraft. Is this still an option? I can't find any menu in the communicator letting me change the aircraft models. In the former version, this menu was available. I found Manage_Aircraft_Config.exe in the aircraft directory.

Looking forward to your answers.

This should have been removed from the manual, and has been removed at many places, but survived somewhere. The option to change the models is no longer usable after some update to direct Draw about 2 years ago, which lead to severe stability problems - to identify this problem took me more than a year. Since any moden hardware has enough GPU memory, there is no longer any profit from using smaller textures.

The Manage Aircraft config can still be used to modify exists and strobe lights.

You are right, calling different textures required different mdl files, and in addition the LOD switching was done a bit nearer, but the performance advantage got smaller an smaller with every new hardware generation.
