STB + RAAS PRO

Recommended Posts

Hello Simon,

I would like to make you aware of something.

RAAS PRO and STB do not cooperate.
It took some time until I found out.

Prehistory:
RAAS PRO simply did not want to run.
So I've been waiting for a new version.
I installed the new version of RAAS.
Loved that RAAS the first time for a long time was running again.
And I did not notice the STB add-on menu was gone.

Since I usually start FSX briefly only to test other add-ons.(Tests my own software etc.)

Now to the problem.
Of course, I tried to normal away STB to bring back to run.
Did not work.

If I turn off RAAS PRO in dll.xml STB is back.

Since I in next few days longer flights plan, would both add-ons at the same course desirable.

Could you imagine what is responsible.

Thanks Thomas

Hello Thomas,

Can you provide me with a copy of your dll.xml please when:

1) STB is working, (RAAS switched off)

2) STB is not working, (RAAS switched on)

Thanks
Simon

Hello Simon,

this is my latest saved dll.xml file.

But I have tried at least 12 different combinations of the entries in the file dll.xml. So it will not help much.

The only thing I do is replace

   <Name>RAASPRO</Name>
    <Disabled>True</Disabled>

with

   <Name>RAASPRO</Name>
    <Disabled>False</Disabled>

Thanks Simon

Cheers
Thomas

Indeed, nothing wrong with the dll.xml.  I am trying to reproduce the problem here.  If I can't, I'll ask you for an STB Plugin Trace.

I could not reproduce the problem on FSX-SE, will look at FSX next.  Which one do you happen to be using?  In the meantime, would you mind doing a trace for me please?

  1. Create an empty file called “STBPlugin.txt” (STB V3.2) or “STB_SIM_Plugin.txt” (STB V3.3) in the main FSX program files folder.

  2. The file cannot be accessed while FSX is running with STBServer.dll, but afterwards you should at least see the following content:

  • STB Plug-in 3.2.0.0

  • SimConnect Interface opened

  • Simconnect Interface Closed.

First do the above trace with RAAS disabled, so we can prove the trace is working, and then a second trace with RAAS active.  Please send the trace file from both scenarios.

Thanks
Simon

I'm not able to reproduce the problem in either FSX or FSX-SE, so a trace on the affected system is the next step.

Thanks
Simon

So what we are seeing is a failure when trying to open the SimConnect interface, with no obvious explanation from FSX.

To try to analyse this further, I've rebuilt the Simulator Plugin (STBServer) to report the HResult that's given back to us from opening SimConnect, and also a catch to report any interface exceptions (however I don't think we get that far).  This is based on the upcoming STB V3.4, which as far as STBServer is concerned gives us a DLL built with VS2013 (instead of VS2005 for the current DLL!) and a connection via named pipes (FSX SP2 style) rather than TCP/IP (FSX RTM Style).

VS2013 means you'll need to ensure you already have the C++ x86 runtime for VS2013 installed on your computer.  If you need help finding that let me know.

If we are fortunate, everything will just start working with this rebuild.  If not, maybe the HResult gives us something to go on.

Please backup your current STBServer.dll and .pdb, and install this one:

www.supertrafficboard.com/downloads/STBServer.3.4.0.2.zip

The name of the trace file required for STBServer also changes in this release.  It is now " STB_SIM_Plugin.txt".  Please create an empty file by that name in your FSX folder, try to create the problem between FSX and RAAS, and send me the .txt file after closing down FSX.

Thanks
Simon

I get : The requested URL /downloads/STBServer.3.4.0.2.zip was not found on this server.

You've misplaced a "w"!  There should be three "w" at the front, i.e. "www"

www.supertrafficboard.com/downloads/STBServer.3.4.0.2.zip

You look like you have the c++ prereq already installed.

STB Plug-in for FSX/FSX-SE 3.4.0.2
SimConnect_Open HRESULT: 060481ea0.
SimConnect Interface opened.
Received 'Is STB Simulator Plug-in Available?' request. Replying 'yes' to all interested parties.
Received IS AIROUND AVAILABLE request.
AIRound is available, notifying clients, return code 5.
Selecting AIROUND_AI_VIEW_FLY_BY for object 16.
Received AIROUND_RET_OK.
Simconnect Interface Closed.

Results: I think that looks much better :) RAAS PRO is also available !!

Glad to hear it's working.  I can't say exactly what the problem was, but something in the rebuild clearly improved it.  Nice pictures of Nice I presume?

You got it right it's Nice.

I think VS2005 was too old. I have tested with VC++2008 Redists so many versions and think STBServer don't like my VC++ Redist installations.

Thanks again

Cheers Thomas
