Arndt777
Hello, over the last days I had severe problems to start P3D. in approximately 50 % of the cases the start process of P3D is stopping after a few seconds. These problems seem to be related to FSUIPC. If I disable FsUIPC, these problems don't exist. I am using Windows 10 64bit, P3D 3.3.5.17625 and FSUIPC4995j. Here is the log file of an unsuccessful start of FSUIPC: ********* FSUIPC4, Version 4.955j (30th August 2016) by Pete Dowson ********* Windows version reported as 6.2.?.9200 Prepar3D.exe version = 3.3.5.17625 Reading options from "D:\Prepar3D v3\Modules\FSUIPC4.ini" Running inside Prepar3D v3 on Windows 8.0 or later Module base=57870000 User Name="Arndt Laube" User Addr="laube54@gmx.de" FSUIPC4 Key is provided WIDEFS7 not user registered, or expired 15 System time = 31/08/2016 16:41:05 15 FLT path = "C:\Users\Arndt777\Documents\Prepar3D v3 Files\" 15 ------ Module Version Check ------ 15 acontain.dll: 3.3.5.17625 15 api.dll: 3.3.5.17625 15 controls.dll: 3.3.5.17625 15 fs-traffic.dll: 3.3.5.17625 15 G3D.dll: 3.3.5.17625 15 language.dll: 3.3.5.17625 15 sim1.dll: 3.3.5.17625 15 visualfx.dll: 3.3.5.17625 15 weather.dll: 3.3.5.17625 15 window.dll: 3.3.5.17625 15 ---------------------------------- 15 Trying D:\Prepar3D v3\Modules\SimConnectP3D3.dll 15 Found it: trying to connect 15 FS path = "D:\Prepar3D v3\" 187 ---------------------- Joystick Device Scan ----------------------- 203 Product= Saitek Pro Flight Quadrant 203 Manufacturer= Saitek 203 Vendor=06A3, Product=0C2D (Version 2.1) 203 Serial Number= Saitek 203 Product= vJoy - Virtual Joystick 203 Manufacturer= Shaul Eizikovich 203 Vendor=1234, Product=BEAD (Version 2.5) 203 Serial Number= 2.0.5 203 Product= PFC MFD Rudder Pedals 218 Manufacturer= Precision Flight Controls, Inc. 218 Vendor=0689, Product=D010 (Version 2.0) 218 Serial Number= Precision Flight Controls, Inc. 234 Product= Saitek Pro Flight Quadrant 234 Manufacturer= Saitek 234 Vendor=06A3, Product=0C2D (Version 2.1) 234 Serial Number= Saitek 234 ------------------------------------------------------------------- 250 LogOptions=00000000 00000001 250 ------------------------------------------------------------------- 250 ------ Setting the hooks and direct calls into the simulator ------ 250 --- CONTROLS timer memory location obtained ok 250 --- SIM1 Frictions access gained 250 --- FS Controls Table located ok 250 --- Installed Mouse Macro hooks ok. 250 --- Wind smoothing fix is installed 250 --- SimConnect intercept for texts and menus option is off 250 --- All links okay (except older global weather setting method) 250 ------------------------------------------------------------------- 250 SimConnect_Open succeeded: waiting to check version okay 250 Trying to use SimConnect Prepar3D 35187 Running in "Lockheed Martin® Prepar3D® v3", Version: 3.3.3.3 (SimConnect: 3.3.0.0) 35187 Initialising SimConnect data requests now 35187 FSUIPC Menu entry added 35187 LUA.0: beginning "D:\Prepar3D v3\Modules\ipcInit.lua" 35187 LUA.0: ended "D:\Prepar3D v3\Modules\ipcInit.lua" 35203 LUA.1: server: waiting for client connection... 35218 C:\Users\Arndt777\Documents\Prepar3D v3 Files\Start Duke B60.fxml 35218 D:\Prepar3D v3\SimObjects\Airplanes\RealAir Duke B60 V2\RealAir_Duke.air 163093 === NOTE: not calling SimConnect_Close ... 164093 System time = 31/08/2016 16:43:49 164093 *** FSUIPC log file being closed Minimum frame rate was 32768.0 fps, Maximum was 0.0 fps Minimum available memory recorded was 32768Mb Maximum AI traffic for session was 1 aircraft Memory managed: 5 Allocs, 5 Freed ********* FSUIPC Log file closed *********** And here you find the dll.xml: ?xml version="1.0" encoding="Windows-1252"?> <SimBase.Document Type="Launch" version="1,0"> <Descr>Launch</Descr> <Filename>dll.xml</Filename> <Disabled>False</Disabled> <Launch.ManualLoad>False</Launch.ManualLoad> <Launch.Addon> <Name>ObjectFlow</Name> <Path>D:\Prepar3D v3\ORBX\FTX_AU\FTXAA_ORBXLIBS\Scenery\ObjectFlow_P3D.dll</Path> </Launch.Addon> <Launch.Addon> <Name>Sode</Name> <Path>D:\12bPilot\SODE\SimObjectAnimationModule.dll</Path> </Launch.Addon> <Launch.Addon> <Name>FSUIPC 4</Name> <Disabled>False</Disabled> <Path>Modules\FSUIPC4.dll</Path> </Launch.Addon> </SimBase.Document> Can you detect from this information the cause of my problem? Pete Dowson
2 minutes ago, Arndt777 said: Here is the log file of an unsuccessful start of FSUIPC: But it did run, and it couldn't stop P3D running. It was running fine till you closed P3D, as shown here: 4 minutes ago, Arndt777 said: 164093 System time = 31/08/2016 16:43:49 164093 *** FSUIPC log file being closed Minimum frame rate was 32768.0 fps, Maximum was 0.0 fps Minimum available memory recorded was 32768Mb Maximum AI traffic for session was 1 aircraft Memory managed: 5 Allocs, 5 Freed ********* FSUIPC Log file closed *********** What appears to be missing is the "Starting everything now" line, which means FSUIPC never got a signal from SimConnect to tell it things were ready to go. How long were you in the initial menu where you choose flights, or do you bypass that? When the correct signal arrives, FSUIPC logs these lines (obviously with different data): 48220 System time = 31/08/2016 15:52:25, Simulator time = 12:22:30 (12:22Z) 48391 Aircraft="Prosim 738 British Airways" 50217 Starting everything now ... The lines are logged as soon as SimConnect responds with the User's Aircraft data. Without this FSUIPC cannot proceed. I've really no idea what could cause that. I've never known it happen before. Could you try starting P3D with a default Prepar3D.CFG file (i.e. temporarily rename the current one, so it makes a new default one). If that's okay then it might be something to do with the Flight or the Aircraft it is trying to load above, i.e. 35218 C:\Users\Arndt777\Documents\Prepar3D v3 Files\Start Duke B60.fxml35218 D:\Prepar3D v3\SimObjects\Airplanes\RealAir Duke B60 V2\RealAir_Duke.airIf you are loading that flight from the menu, try another, or just select an airport and different aircraft. You say: 25 minutes ago, Arndt777 said: over the last days I had severe problems to start P3D. in approximately 50 % of the cases the start process of P3D is stopping If you can work out what you've changed or updated before these "last days", and what the difference is between the 50% which work and the 50% which don't, that would certainly help a lot to narrow things down. Arndt777
I followed your recommendations (thank you very much!) , but without success. Either P3D is hanging after start and does not reach the initial menu, or it is reaching the initial menu without any problems. There seems to be no logic. I even tried the repair function of P3D, but again without success. What changes had I conducted over the last weeks? Some new sceneries, and I updated P3D to the newest version. Pete Dowson
Did you try starting P3D with a default CFG file? If so and it didn't help, please show me the fSUIPC4 log. Pete

Since both times, after removing those Lua files, FSUIPC has started correctly according to the logs, I believe something in one of those Lua plug-ins does things which shouldn't be attempted before FS is finished initialising. So, could you please paste their contents here, or attach them (Zipped) please? Evidently the reason things apeared okay when FSUIPC isn't running was because the damaging Lua plug-ins then weren't being run. Maybe the other problems you now see are due to something you are running needing those Lua plug-ins running? You say you don't know which program installed them ... so, is it not now about time to go through a process of elimination, not running any other programs initially then adding them back one by one. Pete Dowson
The "gitlua" you are running appears to be dealing with other Lua files in your modules folder -- sending details over a Networked connection to a Client program. I tried to find details of "GIT" but the only things I can find by that name are all to do with programming and programming tools. Are you a programmer? Unless you know what these Lua plug-ins are doing for you I suggest to leave them out of the system. If you do need them for a known reason, rename the "ipcIni.lua" file as "ipcReady.lua" so it doesn't cause the GIT part to snarl up FS initialisation. Arndt777
Unfortunately I am not a programmer ... GIT means GoFlight Interface Tool. It is enabling owners of GoFlight modules to put a wider range of programs to the buttons, knobs, etv. of this GoFlight modules. I already erased GIT, but there is no positive effect. FSUIPC ran properly both times since you removed the Lua plug-ins. Who produced this "GoFlight Interface Tool"? Why does it use an Network connection? Well, there's no other point to that GITlua program, though I suppose it may be using the network protocol just to talk to programs on the same PC? If you need it, change the ipcInit to ipcReady. Pete Dowson
22 minutes ago, Arndt777 said: P.S.: www.pollypotsoftware.org.uk I just checked there, and there's no mention of GIT needing a registered version of FSUIPC, which it certainly would if it were dependent upon any Lua plug-ins. Maybe your GIT installation is out of date and they've changed? Might be a good idea to make sure you are up to date -- then you can remove those Lua plugins altogether. Arndt777
I now finished the process of elimination. I erased all dll's and exe's, starting with P3D (I cannot imagine, that FSUIPC is conflicting with sceneries). And the end I erased FSUIPC. And now it is clear: if FSUIPC isn't there, my P3D is starting without problems. If it is there, the starting process is hanging. I even erased all FSUIPS files and did a new install. Same result. But I don't know, why I have this effect. I am working with FSUIPC for decades, without problems. I think, that I need a complete reinstall of everything. If it is there, the starting process is hanging. But if the starting process is hanging, how is it that all of the logs you show, every single one of them, show FSUIPC terminating normally at the end of a session? And, what's more, with a decent FS frame rate showing? look: Quote Average frame rate for running time of 447 secs = 20.2 fps How is it possible for it to both hang AND continue with a decent frame rate and terminate normally? How is is lasting, as in the last log, for nearly 8 minutes with a decent average FS frame rate and then being closed normally? Is it showing all these frames invisibly? Is something else magically closing the session normally, with you only standing by? Maybe you mean something entirely different to me when you say "hang"? To get out of a hang, which is where things appear to freeze, no crash, just freeze, you'd have to call up Windows Task Manager and terminate the process. That's a "hang". It can't be hung and terminate normally. It can't be hung and give an average frame rate of 20 fps! I cannot possibly help when everything you've shown me since removing the GIT plug-in shows everything is okay. That plug-in did stop FSUIPC receiving the correct conditions to do what it normally does, but even then it terminated normally at the end of the session. It just didn't get the needed information from SimConnect. In fact, looking more at what the GITlua was doing I wouldn't at all be surprised if there wasn't a clash with SimConnect's own TCP/IP sockets/ports causing that. Sorry, I think you need to be a lot clearer in your reporting. Pete
Arndt777
Pete, I believe, our definitions of hanging are identical: I am starting the program, the first window 'Prepar3D is showing up, then at a RAM usage of around 70 MB, CPU usage is going down to 0%, the selection window (for selecting airport, plane, ...) is not showing up, this condition is remaining constant, and I have to end the P3D process via the task manager. Therefore the information in the log file about frames is not correct: I do not reach the level of a flight. And the P3D process doesn't terminate 'normally', when P3D is hanging. My interpretation is, that FSUIPC is conflicting with something. Not always, but mostly. Unfortunately I don't find the 'devil'... Thank you for all your efforts! And sorry; if I haven't been clear all the time, but English is not by mother's language... Arndt
Pete Dowson
33 minutes ago, Arndt777 said: I have to end the P3D process via the task manager. That's a quick death for the program, which most certainly cannot allow FSUIPC to continue through to a normal close down. So where are these logs coming from? They absolutely cannot in any way be from a session terminated in that way! Apart from the termination, after 8-10 minutes varying in your logs, it manages to show successfully a minimum, maximum and average frame rate -- once those Lua plug-ins are removed. Those values are gleaned from regular updates sent to FSUIPC by SimConnect. With 0% CPU usage this could not happen! It takes some sort of processing to do this, and also processing just to make that log, ending after 8 minutes or so, of what, you looking at a blank screen? I can only help if I can see how far the log gets to the point where it is ruthlessly stopped by Task manager. There's no way I can diagnose it at all without that, sorry.
